Vallie V.S. Snapp
WILLIAMSPORT - Vallie Virginia Steed Snapp, 100, of 154 N. Artizan St., died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 13, 1896, in Front Royal, Warren County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Montville and Rebecca Frances Burke Steed.
Her husband, Boyd Anthony Snapp, preceded her in death.
She retired from L'Aiglon Dress Factory, and had been employed by Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a life member of Washington Square United Methodist Church, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by three daughters, Hazel Lorraine Sweeney of Sharpsburg, Peggy Rebecca Hildebrand of Williamsport and Virginia Carleen Colyer of Woodburn, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen W. Baum; one son, Boyd Wallace Snapp; five sisters; seven brothers; and one grandson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Hal Atkins will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

John W. Hollenshead
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - John W. Hollenshead, 91, of 282 Johnstons Lane, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born June 6, 1905, in Pleasant Ridge, Pa., he was the son of the late James E. and Rosa Mellott Hollenshead.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Brethren Church. The Rev. Henry Hunsberger will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa., Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Lorraine M.S. Statler
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lorraine M. Sheffler Statler, 70, of 216 1/2 Park St., died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born June 23, 1926, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Merle A. and Dorothy Pentz Sheffler.
She was a 1944 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She was employed at South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, Pa., as a nurses' assistant for 21 years, retiring Jan. 8, 1988.
She attended Antrim Faith Baptist Church in Waynesboro.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Potts of Waynesboro, Sharon A. Horton of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons, Cliff "Butch" Statler of Willard, N.C., and Harold H. Statler of Waynesboro; a twin sister, M. LaRue Jones of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Merle Allen Sheffler Jr.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Herbert S. Busick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Darlene H. Keefer
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Darlene H. Keefer, 56, of 14353 Dickeys Road, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at her home.
Born Aug. 19, 1940, in Cove Gap, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John D. and Maud Ensminger Keefer.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Brandts Church of the Brethren. Rick Hostetter will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
A viewing will be held at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Hannah E. M. Burkholder
Hannah E. Martin Burkholder, 96, of 12402 Burkholder Lane, Hagerstown, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at the home of her son, Chester D. Burkholder, of 12440 Burkholder Lane, Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 11, 1900, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Levi H. and Emma B. Eshleman Martin.
She was a member of Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar H. Burkholder, whom she married Nov. 2, 1922; four daughters, Mary E. Martin of Maugansville, Emma C. Eby and Ruth E. Burkholder, both of Hagerstown, and Fannie N. Diller of Greencastle, Pa.; five sons, Martin L. Burkholder and Chester D. Burkholder, both of Hagerstown, Irvin R. Burkholder of Cumberland, Md., Edgar L. Burkholder of Chambersburg, Pa., and Paul G. Burkholder of Manchester, Ky.; 29 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 45 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 32 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jacob H. Burkholder and Earl D. Burkholder; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Millers Mennonite Church on Millers Church Road near Leitersburg. The Millers Mennonite Church Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Wayne H. Miller
Wayne Hector "Doc" Miller, 69, of 3 Berner Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 6, 1927, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Elmer and Julia Ann Leonard Miller.
He was employed by Weather-Tite Home Improvements, retiring in 1990.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty J. Miller; one daughter, Barbara A. Shank of Hagerstown; five sons, George H. "Butch" Miller, James W. "Yave" Miller, Donald L. "Duck" Miller, Thomas E. "Tom" Miller and John R. "Rick" Miller, all of Hagerstown; one sister, Evelyn H. McAfee of Hagerstown; one brother, John E. Miller of Sharpsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith E. McAfee and Anna Mae Thomas; and one stepbrother, George E. Miller.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Betty D. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Malcolm C. Clouser Jr.
FAIRPLAY - Malcolm C. "Max" Clouser Jr., 69, of 18100 Lappans Road, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at his home.
Born, Nov. 26, 1927, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Malcolm Calvin and Margaret Eileen Rosensteel Clouser Sr.
He was employed as a service manager for Duncan Tire Co. until his retirement in 1992. He previously was employed by O.P. Bohman.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Clouser; one daughter, Deborah A. Stouffer of Hagerstown; one sister, Betty J. McCoy of Hagerstown; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Irvin Clouser.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Anne Weatherholt and the Rev. Raymond McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Lappans.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Wednesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Robert E. Benchoff
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Robert "Bob" Ennis Benchoff, 83, of Greencastle, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa.
Born April 10, 1913, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late B. Frank and Della M. Stottlemyer Benchoff.
Early in life, he worked at Frick Co. and Landis Tool Co., both in Waynesboro, as a drill-press operator. He later moved to the Fairchild plant where he worked for 16 years in the engineering section. He then worked for Allegheny Ballistics Laboratory in West Virginia, and retired from PennDOT in 1978.
He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard for more than 12 years. He served in Korea, earning the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Bronze Star.
A member of Calvary Bible Church in Greencastle, he served as a Sunday school teacher and was a trustee.
He also was a member of the Zembo Temple, Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite, South Penn Scottish Rite, Waynesboro Shrine Club, Acacia Lodge 586 Free and Accepted Masons in Waynesboro, and a life member of A.T.H.L. Fire Co. in Waynesboro, and the National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Davidson Benchoff, whom he married June 24, 1933; one sister, Lillian Wilhide of Pegway, Pa.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, John F. Benchoff; one sister; and three brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Glen A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery in Rouzerville, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where masonic services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. by Acacia Lodge 586 of Waynesboro.
