John H. Lower
MONT ALTO, Pa. - John Harold Lower, 52, of 1 S. Main St., died Monday, March 24, 1997, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.
Born July 21, 1944, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Frances "Fran" Kepner Lower of Waynesboro, and the late Dr. Harold C. Lower.
He was a 1962 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He graduated from the Arena School of Barbering in Norristown, Pa., and worked three years at Potomac Street Shopping Center in Waynesboro. He then opened his own shop on the square of Mont Alto on Dec. 10, 1968.
He served in the U.S. Army with the Army Security Agency.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro, where he served on several councils, and taught church school for a number of years.
He also was a member of Mont Alto Hunting and Fishing Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Faye L. Winters Lower, whom he married Aug. 24, 1969; two sons, Jeffrey M. Lower and David J. Lower, both of Mont Alto; and one sister, Kathryn Lower Filiatreau of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Paul Lower and Dr. Harry Fred Lower.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., Waynesboro. The Rev. James Tudor Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
There will be no public viewing.

Thomas D. Bailie
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Thomas D. Bailie, 71, of P.O. Box 303, 116 W. Market St., died Monday, March 24, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born Dec. 21, 1925, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Thomas Bailie and Elizabeth Caton Bailie.
He attended school to the 10th grade.
He was a retired mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth D. Deale Bailie; two sons, Thomas E. Bailie of Arlington, Va., and Kenneth W. Bailie of Albany, Ky.; and one grandchild.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg.
William L. B. Adams
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - William Lee Bain Adams, 64, of Route 2, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, south of Gerrardstown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
James V. Scaramuzzo
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - James V. Scaramuzzo, 78, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Services and burial will be private in New York.

MILLTOWN, N.J. - Ira Alta Sims Jr., 75, of Milltown, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Manhattan Veteran's Affairs Hospital in New York City.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Arden United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Edith C. Beck
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Edith Crissman Beck, 94, of Menno Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 8, 1903, in York Haven, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. F. Harry Crissman and Stella Amanda Brown Nichols.
Her husband, Robert S. Beck, died in 1974.
She was a graduate of Columbia University.
She was director of student labor at Northfield School in Northfield, Mass., from 1928 to 1930, and then was supervisor of household management for Children's Aid Society in New York from 1936 to 1940.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown.
She also was a member of Conococheague Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at Saturday at 11 a.m. at Menno Haven Chapel. Samuel J. Troyer, chaplain, will officiate.
