Alvey L. Churchey
Alvey Lee "Pete" Churchey, 60, of 11803 Peacock Trail, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born June 19, 1936, In Washington County, he was the son of the late George A. and Lela Harshman Churchey.
He was yardmaster by the Pennsylvania and Conrail Railroad for 22 years. He was the owner-broker of Jefferson House Realty for 25 years. He was president of Jefferson House Builders for 12 years. He also was the developer of Fountainhead North.
He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 378 and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He was vice president of The Greater Hagerstown Board of Realtors; chairman of Public Relations and chairman of Professional Standards. He served on the Maryland State Professional Standards Committee for nine years. He was certified instructor of Professional Standards for the National Association of Realtors for nine years.
He was a member of the United States of America Railroad Retirement Board. He was a member of and served on the Transportation Communications International Union Board.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a heavy weapons instructor at Fort Benning, Ga., during the Korean War. He was Corporal of Repile Company 25th Division, Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patsy Clem Churchey; one daughter, Rena L. Churchey Hoyle of Salisbury, Md.; one son, Warren Wesley Churchey of Hagerstown; one sister, Doris M. Cross of Hagerstown, one brother, Arthur L. Churchey of Hagerstown, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Loleta Snapp, Geraldine Shingleton and Peggy Churchey and two brothers, Harold Churchey and Cecil Churchey.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George W. Evans and the Rev. Steven Fleming will officiate. Burial, with military graveside services by American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42, will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Anna M. Mowen
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Anna M. Mowen, 94, of Franklin County Nursing Home and formerly of 81 West Main St., died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 18, 1902, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Catherine Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Mowen Sr.
She had been employed for many years by Sherman's Department store.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.
She also was a member of the Golden Star Mothers of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Joe Stickle Post 15, Waynesboro.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth F. Mowen of Greencastle, Pa.; one sister, Mildred (Pauline) Smith of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Hall; one son, Roy E. Mowen Jr.; one sister, Ethel Gladhill and one brother, Abram Sanders.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home, corners of South Church and West Second Streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard Seeks will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public visitation.

Clarence W. Gossard
Clarence William "Jim" Gossart, 78, of 132 S. Locust St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born May 8, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence Theodore and Estella Margaret Gower Gossard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Louise Mellott in 1993.
He was self-employed with Gossard and Son Construction Co. For 16 years he was employed as a supervisor by Callas Construction Co., retiring in 1979.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the European Theatre.
He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Williamsport.
He also was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Hagerstown; Issac Walton League; Conococheague Sportsmen's Club; First Hose Fire Co., Hagerstown; National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon L. Hawkins of Hagerstown; one son, Theodore W. Gossard of Hagerstown; one granddaughter; Briana Gossard of Hagerstown; and two grandsons, Matthew J. Hawkins and David A. Hawkins, both of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clarence W. Gossard Jr.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate. Burial, with Military graveside services by Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion Honor Guard, will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends may call at Osborne Funeral Home, 426 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

William N. Ambrose
KNOXVILLE, Md. - William "Butch" Nelson Ambrose, 47, of 806 Knoxville Road, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
Born Feb. 7, 1949, in Frederick he was the son of Evelyn Gosnell Ambrose of Knoxville and the late Raymond Nelson Ambrose.
He was employed by the Cindy Dee Restaurant, Knoxville.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Md.
He also was a member and commander of the Sons of the Legion of the Steadman-Keenan Post 96, Brunswick.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one stepsister, Iris Jean Johnson of Hagerstown; one aunt; one uncle and several cousins.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at John L. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. William M. Bucher and the Rev. Douglas Strachon will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville.

Henry E. Witt
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Henry E. Wilt, 73, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at City Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John W. Sr. and Clara Palmer Wilt.
He retired from the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Center.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of New Hope Assembly Church in Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Helen Shuster Wilt; one daughter, Sharon Wilt of Berkeley County, W.Va.; two brothers, John W. Wilt Jr. and James Wilt, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Sally Willingham of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth W. Wilt Sr.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Philip Bayliss will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Dorothy F. Arch
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy F. Arch, 79, of ManorCare Helath Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 611 Lincoln Way West, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at ManorCare Health Services.
Born March 2, 1917, in Bellmore, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George and Dora Bushbaum McCready.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Arch, who died on Dec. 7, 1983.
She was a homemaker.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
She was a member and pianist of the local chapter of AARP, Chambersburg and also of the Conococheague Audobon Society.
She enjoyed quilting and painting.
She is survived by two sons, John C. Arch of Chambersburg and Gary J. Arch of Westbury, N.Y.; and two granddaughters, Joanna Arch, attending college in Oxford, England and Allison Arch, attending college in New York, New York.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the home of John and Diane Arch, 121 Highfield Lane, South Chambersburg, Pa. Professor Harry Buck will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at their home following the burial.

BOONSBORO - Helen Jeanette "Peggy" Nalley, 70, of 15 Schoolhouse Court, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born April 20, 1926, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nannie Stull Hull.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward Charles Nalley; three daughters, Nancy Itnyre, Emma Jean Robertson and Connie Delosier, all of Boonsboro; four sons, James Nalley Sr. of Hagerstown, Eddie Nalley of Newport News, Va., Ronnie Reeves and Dennis Nalley, both of Boonsboro; one brother, Ivan "Jim" Hull of Hagerstown; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Emma Kate Castle, Blanche Turner, Rosemary Hoover and Jean Gross; and four brothers, Bill Hull, Clyde Hull, Harry Hull and Bud Hull.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. James Jones and the Rev. Kenneth Harrington will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Aube A. Reed
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Aude A. Reed, 96, formerly of Middletown, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at Frederick Healthcare Center, Frederick, Md.
Born Jan. 8, 1900, in Bent Mountain, Va., he was the son of the late John and Lillie Gardner Reed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Naomi Toms Reed on June 10, 1983.
He was a retired automobile dealer. He owned and operated a Studebaker dealership known as Reed's Garage in Middletown for over 20 years.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
He also was a member of Middletown Lions Club since 1933; Columbia Lodge 58 AF&AM since 1950 and the Junior Order of American Mechanics.
He is survived by one daughter, Ernestine Holmes of Earleville, Md.; two sons, Renice L. Reed of Middletown and Dr. Cletus A. Reed of Glen Burnie, Md.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Ethel D. Petersheim
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Ethel D. Petersheim, 78, of 4113 Coseytown Road, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Feb. 20, 1918, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie Shank Diller.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Salem Ridge Mennonite Church near Greencastle, where she was active in the sewing circle of the church, and the Bible Release Time program in the Greencastle area.
She and her husband would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Nov. 12.
She is survived by her husband, Olvier S. Petersheim; two daughters, Lorraine P. Burkholder of Chambersburg, and Linda L. Mosemann of Greencastle; four sons, Loren O. Petersheim of Paradise, Pa., and Lee O. Petersheim, LaVerne Petersheim and Lynn A. Petersheim, all of Greencastle; two sisters, Lois Eshleman and Anna Krouse, both of Greencastle; three brothers, Glenn Diller of Grants Pass, Ore., Aden Diller of Greencastle, and Leon Diller of Frederick, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Diller; and one granddaughter, Larissa Ann Petersheim.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Salem Ridge Mennonite Church, 475 Pensinger Road, Greencastle. Pastor Joe Martin, pastor Glenn Diller and Pastor Aden Diller will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Lawrence O. and Mary E. Alisea Payne Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ashman Payne.
He was a retired barber.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean war.
He is survived by one son, William Allen Dowle.
Services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. James L. Richard will officiate. Burial will be in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, Va.
