Norman Sheffield Sr.
FORT LITTLETON, Pa. - Norman Sheffield Sr., 62, of HCR 75, Box 296, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 7, 1935, in Fort Littleton, he was the son of the late Walter and Adda Locke Sheffield.
He was a truck driver for H.J. Culler Inc. in McConnellsburg, Pa.
He served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Chambersburg Moose and Orbisonia American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Wolfe Heinbaugh Sheffield; two daughters, Peggy Bailey and Mary Buterbaugh, both of McConnellsburg; two sons, Norman Sheffield Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Roger Sheffield of Waterfall, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Marsha McCoy and Linda Hershey, both of McConnellsburg, Stella Keefer of Knobsville, Pa., and Joyce Stern of Kensington, Ohio; two stepsons, Edward Heinbaugh of McConnellsburg, and Albert Heinbaugh of Harrisonville, Pa.; one sister, Velma Allen of Orrstown, Pa.; one brother, Clarence Sheffield of Fayetteville, Pa.; six grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Sheffield and James Sheffield; and one stepdaughter, Beverly Swope.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg.
The Rev. Richard Beatty will officiate.
Burial will be in Fair Ridge Cemetery in Shade Gap, Pa., with graveside military services conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Carrie M. Benchoff
SMITHSBURG - Carrie M. Benchoff, 89, of Comanche Drive, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 2, 1908, in Pleasant Valley near Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Elsie M. Bowman Recker.
Her husband, Lauran H. Brickey Benchoff, died in 1983.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg.
She also was a member of Sunshine Leisure Club in Smithsburg; and AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Powles of Mount Lake Park, Md.; one son, John R. Benchoff of Hagerstown; one sister, Josephine E. Shindledecker of Michaux Manor, Fayetteville, Pa.; one brother, Edward J. "Teddy" Recker of Smithsburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah I. Recker, Charlotte G. Cross and Marie H. Peiffer.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.
The Rev. Richard Hembrock will officiate.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Homer W. Staubs
Homer William Staubs, 80, of 14 Park Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 11, 1916, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Howard H. and Nina Martz Staubs.
He was formerly employed with Blue Ridge Transportation in Hagerstown for 15 years and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., after 20 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Boonsboro.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Belle Morrison Staubs, whom he married Sept. 16, 1940; two daughters, Barbara Lyne Mauk of Clear Spring and Bonnie Ann Burger of Hagerstown; one son, Ronald Lee Staubs of Clear Spring; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nina Jane Staubs.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
The Rev. David Kaplan will officiate.
Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sallie L. Rickard
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Sallie Louise Rickard, 60, of Shannondale, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born June 24, 1936, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. Sr. and Clara Lee Sowers Armstrong.
She was employed with Berryville Graphics in Berryville, Va., and was previously employed with Byrds Packing Co. in Charles Town, W.Va., and Basch's Fruit Co. in Ranson, W.Va.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles J. Rickard; one daughter, Lisa M. Buck of Harpers Ferry; two sons, Charles Daniel Rickard of Keyser, W.Va., and Stephen Eugene Rickard of Harpers Ferry; two sisters, Charlotte M. Hawkins of Charles Town and Ella Armstrong of Ranson, W.Va.; and three brothers, Daniel Armstrong Jr. of Charles Town, Robert L. Armstrong of Greenwood, N.Y., and Harry C. Armstrong of Harpers Ferry; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
The Rev. Lester Dillow will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens Cemetery in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Alice M. Douglas
Alice Margaret Douglas, 83, of 1214 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Sept. 26, 1913, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Hattie Blair Stallings.
Her husband, Albert L. Douglas, preceded her in death.
She was a former seamstress.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Barkdoll of Hagerstown, and Margaret A. Palmer of Williamsport; one son, George A. Barkdoll of Hagerstown; three sisters, Thelma Suffecool, Helen Kershner and Ruth Turner, all of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Rebecca Lynn Crawford, 8 1/2 -week-old daughter of Kenneth Matthew and Maggie Mae Alexander Crawford of Summit Point, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Kimberly Renee Moore, at home; a half-brother, Jonathan Jacob Alexander of North Carolina; maternal grandfather, Eugene Alexander of Inwood, W.Va., paternal grandparents, Junior and Patsy Crawford of Summit Point; paternal great-grandmother, Esther Crawford of Kearneysville, W.Va.; and paternal great-grandparents, Herman and Charity Barron of Summit Point.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, W.Va. The Rev. Roy Chapman will officiate.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
Eldon Brown
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eldon "Gene" Brown, 53, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at City Hospital.
Born Oct. 18, 1943, in Mount Herman, Ky., he was the son of the late Eldon Brown and Efflene Key Perdue.
He was employed by Rockingham Construction Co. in Gaithersburg, Md.
He served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Kearneysville, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Marcey Burwell Brown; seven daughters, Anna Marie Moore of Livingston, Tenn., Rosie Conner of Monroe, Tenn., Sandra Brown of Martinsburg, Amber Frazier of Falling Waters, W.Va., Sherry Brown of Middleway, W.Va., and Kelly Brown and Barbi Brown, both at home; five sons, Dwayne Brown, Evean Brown, Richard Brown and James Brown, all of Martinsburg, and Jonathon Brown, at home; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Kearneysville, W.Va.

Marshall McAboy Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Marshall "Teeny" McAboy Jr., 65, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, March 29, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 1, 1931, in Halltown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Marshall Sr. and Myrtle Courtney McAboy.
He was a self-employed painter.
He served with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by one sister, Shirley McKee of Kimberling City, Mo.; and one brother, David McAboy of Charles Town.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne McAboy and Gary McAboy.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Affairs Post Chapel in Martinsburg.
Jerry Mehaffey, chaplain, will officiate.
Burial will be private.
