Benjamin F. Bowser
Benjamin Franklin Bowser, 85, a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Home, Hagerstown, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 8, 1911, in Sabillasville, Md., he was the son of the late Isiah and Etta Pearl Kendall Bowser.
His wife, Savannah Edith Smith Bowser, died in 1990.
He was a retired self-employed house painter.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one brother, Earl "Bud" Bowser of Chewsville; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and 10 brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Elsie C.E. Cejka
REDONDO BEACH, Calif. - Elsie C.E. Cejka, 61, of 1900 Rockefeller Center, died Friday, March 28, 1997, at South Bay Medical Center in Redondo Beach.
Born Jan. 17, 1936, in Red Cloud, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cleo Norris.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Chris Norris and Corky Norris, both of Red Cloud; three sons, James E. Cejka and Dennis Cejka, both of New Bern, N.C., and Ken Cejka of Crystal Springs, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg.
Margaret A. Jordan
WILLIAMSPORT - Margaret Armenta "Maggie" Jordan, 76, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at the home.
Born May 14, 1920, in Tilghmanton, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Gladys V. Grumbaugh Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Keller Jordan, in 1976.
She was a member of Manor Church of the Brethren, Boonsboro.
She is survived by four sons, Larry W. Jordan of Crestview, Fla., Wayne E. Jordan of Boonsboro, Claude E. Jordan of Sharpsburg and Nevin F. Jordan of Cearfoss; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo Smith, Edgar Smith, Carl Smith and Claude Smith.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ernest Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Gladys R. Hutton
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gladys Rhea Hutton, 86, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of Vista, Calif., died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 25, 1910, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Zella Brandt Rhea.
Her husband, Henry Smith Hutton, died in 1979.
She was a 1928 graduate of Chambersburg High School and a 1930 graduate of the former Penn Hall Junior College in Chambersburg.
She and her husband owned and operated the former Hutton Realty Co. in Vista for about 20 years.
She was a member of Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg.
Prior to returning to Chambersburg, she was a member of First Lutheran Church in Vista, where she served on various committees and volunteered in the church office.
She was a member of Kittochtinny Historical Society in Chambersburg.
She is survived by one sister, Nancy Rhea Weaver of Chambersburg; two nieces; one nephew; and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Harry Rhea and Edwin Brandt Rhea.
Services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller and the Rev. Robert Dean Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Milton E. Walters
FROSTBURG, Md. - Milton E. "Sonny" Walters, 53, of 5 Broadway, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at his sister's home.
Born Sept. 19, 1943, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Milton R. and Mary Ellen Beeman Walters.
He was employed by Frostburg State University Housekeeping Department for the past 23 years.
He attended Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian, Md.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Farrady Post 24, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 348, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1273, Frostburg, and Aerie 2883, Cresaptown, Md.
He is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Marie Walters of Cumberland, Md.; one sister, Shirley M. Robinette of Frostburg; his girlfriend, Valinda Broadwater of Frostburg; one niece; and one nephew, both of Hagerstown; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian. The Rev. Jimmie Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, where Frostburg Eagles Aerie 1273 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Judith G. Phillips
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Judith Gladhill Phillips, 54, of Fort Collins, and formerly of Silver Spring, Md., died Monday, March 24, 1997, at home.
Born March 18, 1943, in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Mark E. and Helen E. Rohrer Gladhill.
She was a 1961 graduate of Middletown High School, and a graduate of Strayer College in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Burtonsville Lutheran Church.
She was a docent for Fort Collins Museum and a nursing home volunteer. An artist, she attended the Loveland Institute in Loveland, Colo., and was fond of gardening and creative floral design. She was a member of Fort Collins Garden Club and Collindale Women's nine-hole golf group.
She is survived by her husband, Roger S. Phillips of Fort Collins; one daughter, Valerie Beth Phillips Wilson of Westminster, Colo.; one son, Matthew Mark Phillips of Boulder, Colo.; two brothers, Mark Alan Gladhill and John Calvin Gladhill, both of Middletown and Hagerstown; one grandson; three aunts, two uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of her life was held at Allnut Chapel in Fort Collins on March 27. The Rev. Karen Lowe officiated.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion, Main Street, Middletown. Burial will be in Middletown at the convenience of the family.

Frederick H. Sheeley
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Frederick H. Sheeley, 77, of Port Charlotte, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1920, in St. James.
He received his bachelor's degree in education from Frostburg State University, and his master's degree from University of Maryland.
He retired from the Maryland Department of Education in Baltimore as a specialist in education.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and St. Mary's of the Annunciation in Lonaconing, Md., where he maintained a summer home.
He was a member of Sunnybreeze Palms Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leah Stakem Sheeley; three daughters, Carolyn Anne Sheeley, Mary Kay Sheeley Stafford and Barbara Sheeley, all of Port Charlotte; one son, William F. Sheeley of Golden, Colo.; one brother, Charles Howard Sheeley of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, March 26, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. The Rev. Nicholas McLoughlin officiated. Burial was in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, Fla.
Arrangements were by Port Charlotte Chapel of Kays Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Homes in Port Charlotte.
Violet L. Remsberg
JEFFERSON, Md. - Violet Lovetta Remsberg, 74, of 4412-B Jefferson Pike, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Nov. 3, 1922, in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Esworthy and Gertrude McBride Beachley.
Her husband, Melvin Augustus Remsberg, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth G. Blevins of Charlotte, N.C., and Kimberly S. Remsberg of Frederick, Md.; three sons, Augustus M. Remsberg of Jefferson, Elmer E. Remsberg of Boonsboro and David L. Remsberg of Frederick; three sisters, Grace Runkles and Della Trump, both of Frederick, and Lilly Alexander of Waynesboro, Pa.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Charles E. Shepard will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Reformed Cemetery in Jefferson.
