Anna M.W. Zody
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna M. Wishard Zody, 88, of Menno Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of 11705 Wharf Road, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 16, 1908, in Zullinger, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Carrie Garnes Wishard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin D. Zody on July 11, 1979. They were married on Oct. 22, 1927.
She was a 1926 graduate of Washington Township High School. She attended nursing school in Hagerstown.
She helped her husband open and operate Zody's Moving and Storage Inc., Zullinger.
During World War II, she was active in Civil Defense work.
She attended Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, Pa.
She was one of the original leaders in forming a Girl Scout troop in the Zullinger area. When she was younger, she was active in the Zullinger Community Association.
She is survived by one son, Donald E. Zody of Waynesboro; four sisters, Clara Ream of Spring Grove, Pa., Eva Zody of Waynesboro, Phyllis May and Charlotte Deschamps, both of Sun City, Fla.; one granddaughter; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Wilbur F. Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the funeral home.
Savilla B. Weaver
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Savilla Banks Weaver, 74, of 427 E. Washington St., died Friday, April 4, 1997, at her home.
Born March 3, 1923, in Millwood, Va., she was the daughter of the late Willie and Annie Carter Banks.
She was a 1941 graduate of Chambersburg High School. She attained her license as a practical nurse through The Chambersburg Hospital. She also took supervisor's courses with United Telephone Company of Chambersburg.
Early in life she was as a clerk of courts with Franklin County Court for a number of years, and then worked as a nurse's aide at Chambersburg Hospital. In 1964, she began employment with United Telephone Company in Chambersburg, retiring as a supervisor in 1986.
She was a life time member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Chambersburg, and served with the Mother of Members and as secretary for the Womens Auxiliary of the church.
She was a member of Benjamin Witmen Pioneer Club of United Telephone Company, Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, and served as a board member for both. She also was a member of Falling Springs Chapter of American Business Women Association in Chambersburg, where she was awarded Woman of the Year in 1986.
She volunteered with Cumberland Valley Tourist Center, Senior Citizens Tax Preparation at Eugene Clark Community Center in Chambersburg, and as clerk for Franklin County Board of Elections Second Ward for the Democratic Party.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Weaver Jr., whom she married Aug. 10, 1944; two daughters, Elvyann Leigh Weaver of Philadelphia, and Savilla "Tina" Jiles of Chambersburg; one sister, Henrietta Banks Williams of Millersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betsy McGill and Rebecca Robinson; and three brothers, George Banks, Nathaniel Banks and Belvin Banks.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. G. Nathan Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
There will be no public viewing; however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred M. Standley
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mildred M. Standley, 83, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, at Heartland of Martinsburg Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 5, 1913, in Wathena, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Flora Shuster Moskau.
Her husband, William Francis Standley, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlene S. Power of Martinsburg; two sisters, Maxine M. Pohl and Iona M. Hageman, both of Wathena; three grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Charles Moskau.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Christopher D. Fowler and the Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Samuel G. Barkdoll
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Samuel G. Barkdoll, 41, of 850 Cherry Hill, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1954, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Samuel L. and Nancy J. Glenn Barkdoll of Sabillasville, Md.
He was employed at Grove Manufacturing Co. in Shady Grove, Pa., for the past 18 years.
He served with the U.S. Air Force for two years, and the Air Force Reserve in Martinsburg for two years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Katherine E. Hensley Barkdoll; one daughter, Staci D. Barkdoll, at home; one son, Kaleb T. Barkdoll, at home; two brothers, W. Dean Barkdoll and Timothy S. Barkdoll, both of Smithsburg; and grandmother, Lois G. Barkdoll of Greensburg, Md.
He was preceded in death by one son, S. Shane Barkdoll.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Lee Harrell, 73, of 14601 Falling Waters Road, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at her home.
Born July 28, 1923, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Russell Delaware and Eva Shank Hose.
She was a member of Williamsport Assembly of God.
She is survived by her husband, Carney Luther Harrell; eight daughters, Mary Ruth Harrell and May Harrell, both at home, Gladys Elizabeth Revell of Winchester, Va., Naomi Louise Halley of Del City, Okla., Kay Swope of Smithsburg, Rebecca Ann Ryder of Hoonah, Alaska, Sharon Frances Ganglfinger of Charleston, Maine, and Karen Patricia Wilson of Cumberland, Md.; eight sons, David Luther Harrell of Martinsburg, W.Va., James Edward Lee Harrell and Joseph Allen Harrell, both of Hagerstown, John William Harrell and Phillip Leroy Harrell, both of Williamsport, Paul Vernon Harrell, at home, Samuel Lynn Harrell of Greencastle, Pa., and Michael Eugene Harrell of Moore, Okla.; 33 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jonathan Carney Harrell; one brother, Arthur Hose; and one granddaughter.

Margery S. Maurey
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Margery S. Maurey, 80, of 605 E. Main St., died Saturday, April 5, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born June 27, 1916, in Pine Hall, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Tillie Fern Johnson Snyder.
She graduated from Thompson Business College in Harrisburg, Pa.
She began her retail career with Sears-Roebuck in State College, Pa., where she worked in sales and service in the sporting goods and household appliance department. She also served as office manager at Woolco Department Store in Frederick during the 1960s and 1970s, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.
She enjoyed home and garden projects.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John R. Maurey; one daughter, Barbara L. Moran of Frederick; one sister, Ethel S. Grenoble of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth S. Stewart.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. William M. Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.

Merle E. Burns
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Merle E. Burns, 82, of 1085 Willowbrook Drive, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, at his home.
Born March 1, 1915, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late James and Edith Bone Burns.
His wife, Helen Lader Burns, died in 1966.
He was employed with the former Seal Test in Chambersburg for more than 40 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion in St. Thomas, Pa., Wesley-Yeager Post 606 American Legion in Fort Loudon, Pa., Men of the Mountain in Fort Loudon, Pa., and enjoyed hunting, fishing and throwing horseshoes.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. Yeager of Chambersburg; two sons, Samuel T. Burns of Chambersburg, and John E. Burns of Fort Loudon; one brother, James Burns of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Doyle; and five brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Barron Barley will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chambersburg.

Paul E. Semler
BOONSBORO - Paul Edward Semler, 82, of Boonsboro, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at his home.
Born Feb. 20, 1915, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Smith Semler.
His wife, Edith Eliza Semler, died in 1983.
He retired in 1977 from Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown, and was former owner and operator of Semler's Produce in Boonsboro.
He was a member of Church of Christ at Hagerstown, and the Keenager Group of the church.
He also was a member of AARP.
He is survived by one daughter, Paula K. Ford of Boonsboro; five sons, David L. Semler of Middletown, Md., Donald R. Semler of Braddock Heights, Md., James M. Semler and Nelson L. Semler, both of Martinsburg, and Merrick L. Semler of Boonsboro; one sister, Genevieve Good of Leitersburg; two brothers, Frank Semler of Smithsburg, and Donald "Mickey" Semler of Statton Island, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Semler and Richard Semler.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Curt Lowery and Bryan Bailey, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
