Joyce L. White
MAUGANSVILLE - Joyce L. White, 54, of 13817 Village Mill Drive, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born Nov. 25, 1942, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Goldie B. Stains Lorshbaugh.
She was employed by Freddies Corner and Alibi's.
She was a member of Faith Temple, Cearfoss.
She is survived by her husband, Joe White; two daughters, Kelli S. Shrader and Trudy L. Scott, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Raymond T. McCarney and Mark A. Hoffman, both of Hagerstown; one stepdaughter, Norma Jean White of Hagerstown; one stepson, Joe White of Hagerstown; one sister, Kimberly E. Eyler of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ronald L. Lorshbaugh and Michael W. Lorshbaugh, both of Maugansville; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ronald L. Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anthony C. Montanio, Sr.
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Anthony Carl Montanio Sr., 70, of Kearneysville, and formerly of Williamsport, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 13, 1926, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Josephine Ruotolo Montanio of Clifton, N.J., and the late Anthony Carl Montanio.
His wife, Edith Elaine Knowlton Montanio, died Jan. 18, 1997.
He owned and operated Maiday Housecleaning Service for 25 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Williamsport Assemblies of God.
He also was a member and past president of Full Gospel Business Men's Association in Kensington, Md.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Josephine L. Montanio, at home; one son, Anthony C. Montanio, Jr., at home; and one brother, Michael Montanio of Clifton.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clear Spring. The Rev. Daniel A. Jordan will officiate.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 16, at Williamsport Assemblies of God, Falling Waters Road, Williamsport. The Rev. Daniel A. Jordan will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Paul F. Litten
FAIRPLAY - Paul Franklin Litten, 83, of 17319 Spielman Road, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 16, 1914, in Downsville, he was the son of the late Thomas Edgar and Bessie W. Liskey Litten.
He was employed at Victor Hosiery Mill in Hagerstown for 21 years, and then at Montgomery Ward in Hagerstown for 11 years, retiring in 1979.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of Downsville Church of the Brethren.
He also was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, and Conococheague Tribe 84 Improved Order of Redmen, both in Williamsport; and North American Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Frances Litten Litten; one daughter, Eileen Plotner of Fayetteville, Pa.; three sons, Charles Litten of Williamsport, Robert Litten and Carl Litten, both of Fairplay; one brother, Clyde Litten of Martinsburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Nally and Lena Smith; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Jan Dorsey will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Cemetery in Tilghmanton, with miltiary graveside serivces conducted by Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Friday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Charles E. Diebert, Jr.
Charles Edward Diebert, Jr., 79, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at his home.
Born June 4, 1917, in St. James, Md., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Bessie M. Beitler Diebert, Sr.
He was employed by C.E. Routzahn Feed Mill and Donald Dayhoff Contractor. He was retired from Dixie Millwork.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Rowland Diebert, whom he married in February 1936; one sister, Pauline Miller of Hagerstown and one brother, Wilbur E. Diebert of Williamsport.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charles C. Dennis, Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles E. "C.E." Dennis, Jr., 64, of Route 2, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Urma Jane Swink Dennis, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Minneqerode Dennis.
He was the former owner of Dennis Watercress.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 778.
He is survived by one daughter, Jane Morgan Mills of Martinsburg; two sons, Charles E. Dennis III of Martinsburg and Richard T. Dennis of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Byrne; and one brother, E. Frost Dennis.
Services and burial will be private.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Edward Allen Tosten, 42, of 9 Bowie Drive, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1954, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Glenn O. and Margaret K. Tosten.
He attended Mountain View Baptist Church.
He is survived by a friend, Pat Heishman, with whom he resided and Sonya and Leroy Hillard of Falling Waters.
There will be no service.

Lillian K. Mellott
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Lillian K. Mellott, 91, of Meeting House Road, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at her home.
Born Nov. 21, 1905, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Longman Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert T. Mellott, in 1970.
She was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Susan Abin of Lander, Md.; four sons, George Marvin Stottlemyer, Vernon Stottlemyer, Roy Stottlemyer and Ercy "Tex" Stottlemyer, all of Myersville; one brother, Eldin "Pete" Hayes of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Jackson; and one son, Gordon Stottlemyer.
Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate.

Pauline M. Jones
Pauline Myrtle Jones, 97, of 950 Guilford Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at Clearview Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 31, 1899, in Cavetown, she was the daughter of the late Otho R. and Flora E. Kuhn Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Jones, on July 16, 1964.
She was employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co. and the Silk Mill in Williamsport. She also was a tavern owner.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church, Cavetown.
She is survived by three sisters, Luella Shoop of Leitersburg, Vera Moats of Williamsport and Margaret Ferguson of Smithsburg; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Maxine E. Haupt and Dorotha M. Leasure; three sisters, Goldie Martin, Olive Smith and Hilda Brewer; and one granddaughter, Donna Turner.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Ronald E. Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
