Lula M. Grandstaff
Lula May Grandstaff, 93, a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Center, and formerly of 442 Mechanic St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1903, in Charlton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Levi and Mary Ann Weaver Mills.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel E. Sirbaugh, and by her second husband, Marvin K. Grandstaff.
She had been employed by Fairchild Aircraft and retired from Routzahn's Department Store, formerly Leiter Brothers Department Store, after 22 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Gossard of Williamsport; two sons, Harry Eugene Sirbaugh and James Keller Grandstaff, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Helen C. Hays of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Lloyd C. Mills of Laureldale, Pa.; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane W. Sheppard; one son, William Grandstaff; one stepson, Forrest Sirbaugh; two sisters, Eleanor Artz and Kathryn Sheffer; two brothers, William Abraham Mills and Leonard Mills; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Timothy Mabbott and the Rev. Robert L. Regenold will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Charles W. Glass
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Charles W. Glass, 80, a resident of 10906 Steeding Horse Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Born Oct. 16, 1916, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Russell D. and Cora Biddle Glass.
He was a 1934 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He worked as the supervisor of maintenance at Letterkenny Army Depot for 30 years, prior to retiring in December 1970.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Cocoa, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Alice Alexander Glass, whom he married July 9, 1938; two daughters, Eleanore I. Black, with whom he resided, and Karen E. Bingaman of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Russell E. Glass of Irving, Texas; one half-sister, Janet Billet of York, Pa.; three half-brothers, Ralph Mentzer of Abbottstown, Pa., Ronald E. Mentzer of Colorado, and Richard Mentzer of York, Pa.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Carl L. Jacobs
WILLIAMSPORT - Carl Leroy Jacobs, 87, of 16709 Aqueduct Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996, in Mount Pleasant, Tenn.
Born Sept. 21, 1909, in Cedar Lake, Mich., he was the son of the late Lewen Ancel and Bertha Caroline Lea Jacobs.
His wife of 61 years, Ruth Jacobs, died Oct. 10, 1996.
He was employed as a teacher in Michigan, Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia, and as a book store manager in Tennessee, Mississippi, Maryland and New York.
He was a member of Williamsport Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Frank Jacobs of Williamsport, and Lloyd Jacobs of Cicero, Ind.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Valley View Chapel in Chattanooga, Tenn. Burial was in Collegedale Memorial Park in Collegedale, Tenn.

Kenneth D. Kline Sr.
SMITHSBURG - Kenneth D. Kline Sr., 75, of Cave Hill Road, Smithsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 1, 1921, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late John R. and Daisy O. Brunner Kline.
He was employed by Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, until his retirement in 1983 after 20 years of service.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the UAW and the NRA. He was a life member of Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Dept. and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Louise M. Barkdoll Kline; two daughters, Dorene J. Young of Mt. Airy, Md., and Sue Recher of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sons, Kenneth D. Kline Jr. of Hagerstown and Kerry D. Kline of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Vauda Martz of Mt. Aetna, Md., Martha Williams of Smithsburg and Mable Armstrong of Boonsboro; four brothers, John Junior Kline, Daniel Kline, both of Hagerstown, Clarence Kline of Chewsville and Jerry Kline of Smithsburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Kline and Grayson Kline Sr.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Julie Brigham will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Melissa L. Bivens
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Melissa Louise Bivens, 38, of Falling Waters, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at her home.
Born March 30, 1958, in Kingwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of Betty Cozad Graham of Hancock and the late John R. Graham.
She was a 1976 graduate of Hancock High School, where she was a member of the Color Guard.
She was employed as an office assistant-FSS Clerk for the Martinsburg Housing Authority. She also worked at the Handi Shopper Store, Falling Waters.
She was a member of the Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church, Hancock.
She was the "Soccer Mom" for her sons soccer teams in Berkeley County, W.Va.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, whom she married Aug. 24, 1974, Larry E. Bivens; two sons, Larry Bivens Jr. and Andrew Bivens, both at home; one sister, Penny Murphy of Hagerstown; two brothers, John "Bub" Graham of Ft. Meade, Md., and Tom Graham of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; five nieces and five nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, at 11 a.m. at the Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, Rt. 11 Berkeley County. Pastor Donald B. Smith will officiate. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family requests that flowers be sent to the church.

Charles F. Wall
RICHMOND, Va. - Charles Frank Wall, of Richmond, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996.
He was employed by IBM until his retirement after 44 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Val Perfater Wall; one son, Dan Franklin Wall of Winchester, Va.; and one granddaughter, Katlyn Stephenson Wall of Winchester, Va.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at River Road Presbyterian Church, Richmond, Va.
Arrangements were handled by Woody Funeral Home, Richmond.

Elsie M. Thomas
BOONSBORO - Elsie Marie Thomas, 95, of Reeders Memorial Home, and formerly of Benevola and 110 Bently Court, Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at the home.
Born Aug. 10, 1901, in Benevola, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Drusie A. Wissinger Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton V. Thomas in 1977.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Robert C. Thomas of McIntosh, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters, Viola E. Dubel, Carry E. Criswell, Lena R. Baker, Myrtle M. Baker, Marjorie R. Reeder, Lillie M. Davis and Beulah V. Shifler and five brothers, Harry D. Baker, Albert Baker, Raymond C. Baker, Willis Baker and Wilbur W. Baker.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Benevola Cemetery with the Rev. Helen S. Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
