William H. Andrews
William Harry Andrews, 65, of 17811 Thornberry Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 16, 1931, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Sigmund Henry Andrews and A. Catherine Springer Andrews Garvin.
He retired from the City of Hagerstown Light Department but returned to work for the Signal Dept., City of Hagerstown. He was employed by the City of Hagerstown for 37 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He also was a member of AARP Chapter 623 and American Legion, Funkstown Post 211.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Stotler Andrews; one son, Brian Andrews of Frankfort, Ky.; one sister, Betty Lerch of Rohrersville; one brother, Sigmund H. Andrews of Hagerstown and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George W. Ennis and the Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Izora E. Weaver
Izora E. Weaver, 78, of Little Antietam Road, Hagerstown, and formerly of Hancock, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1918, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Ida May Weller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Weaver in 1986.
She was employed by Jacob Brothers Inc., Hancock. Prior to that, she was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock.
She is survived by one brother, Floyd D. Weller of Hancock and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Effie "Polly" Rosenberry, Nan Weller and Iva Bishop and four brothers, George Weller, Luther Weller, Ben Weller and Charlie Weller.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. will officiate.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
Margaret E. Shipp
Margaret E. Shipp, who died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996, was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Shipp, in 1960.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Cromer.
Harvey S. Gatrell
Harvey S. Gatrell, of Hagerstown, who died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, is survived by two sons, Ray S. Gatrell and Edward Lee Gatrell, both of Berryville, Va., and five grandchildren.
J. Sanford Keedy
BOONSBORO - John Sanford Keedy, 80, of 7 Ford Ave., died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 24, 1916, in Rohrersville, he was the son of the late John David and Nellie A. Clopper Keedy.
He was a 1935 graduate of Boonsboro High School, and a graduate of Columbia Business College in Hagerstown.
He was formerly employed with Hardesty Electrical Supplies in Hagerstown and Potomac Edison Co.; was former owner and operator of the Western Auto store in Purcellville, Va.; and retired as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Purcellville. He received a 20-year safe-driving award from the National Safety Council of the U.S. Postal Service.
A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army's 11th Armored Division of the Third Army under Gen. George Patton in the European Theater.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville and the Otterbein Men's Class. He also was a member of the choir, a former trustee and Sunday school superintendent.
He also was a member of Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion in Boonsboro; R.S. Tagg Jr. Chapter 14 Disabled American Veterans of Hagerstown; W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW in Hagerstown; and Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown.
He was a volunteer for the Southeastern Washington County Food Closet and a member of the board for Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Wyand Keedy, whom he married Aug. 20, 1941; one daughter, Sandra K. Townsend of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Susan Amanda Townsend and Samuel Christian Townsend, both of Martinsburg; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Keedy Norris.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth J. Fizer Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
There will be no viewing at the funeral home, however, the family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

MAUGANSVILLE - Joyce L. White, 54, of 13817 Village Mill Drive, who died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home, is survived by her mother, Goldie B. Stains Lorshbaugh of Hagerstown.
Alva L. Griffin
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Alva L. Griffin, 63, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 18, 1933, in Marshville, N.C., he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Nora Dees Griffin.
He was a retired firefighter from the Washington, D.C., Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of American Legion in Wheaton, Md., and Firefighters Association Local 36 in Washington, D.C.; was a minor league baseball player; and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Irene Korintus Griffin; two daughters, Julie Griffin, at home, and Colleen Tubbs of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one son, John Thomas Griffin of Martinsburg; one brother, James Griffin of Ormond Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Earl Griffin, Emmett Griffin, Carroll Griffin, Glenn Griffin, Roy Griffin, Loren Griffin and Oren Griffin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19, at noon at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.
There will be no visitation.
H. Clarence Ramsburg
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - H. Clarence Ramsburg, 82, of Charles Town, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Herbert O. and Mary Jane Furr Ramsburg.
He retired after 39 years of service with Supertane Gas Corp. in Ranson, W.Va., and previously worked for Myers Coal Co. in Charles Town.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, and the Builder Bible Class.
He volunteered at Melvin T. Strider Co. Inc. in Charles Town.
He also was a member of Volunteer Fire Co. in Charles Town since June 4, 1953, and served as trustee of the fire department for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy E. Roberts Ramsburg; one daughter, Jeanie Snow of Charles Town; four sisters, Hilda Guth of Clinton, Md., Pauline DeHaven of Summit Point, W.Va., Florence James and Eva Clark, both of Charles Town; two brothers, W. Glenn Ramsburg of Charles Town, and Lee B. Ramsburg of Ellicott City, Md.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jessie Boyd.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. The Rev. James Chambly and the Rev. Marcus Earp will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.
Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
