Shirley B. Robison
Shirley B. Robison, 61, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 13, 1997.
Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Ruby Heil Sr.
She was formerly employed by L'Aligon Manufacturing, Dorbee Manufacturing and Maryland Ribbon.
She also was former co-owner of Funkstown Fountain and R&J Discount Store.
She also worked in a domestic capacity for several family members and friends.
She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown.
She was actively involved in outreach with fellow cancer survivors.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Robison; five daughters, Vicky Yates of Sharpsburg, Jessie "Susie" Kretzer, Jewel Collins, Janice Robison and Jamie Cannon, all of Hagerstown; two sons, Frederick Reeder of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert Reeder of Hagerstown; and 12 grandchildren, including James Aleshire, whom resided with her.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Robison Jr.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Raymond H. Davis and the Rev. Andre Blythe will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Edward A. Mumma
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Edward A. Mumma, 54, of 345 Antietam Drive, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at his home.
Born July 17, 1942, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Helen Fisher Mumma of Hagerstown and the late Charles E. Mumma.
He was a 1960 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School, Hagerstown.
While in high school, he played basketball, winning many awards and trophies.
He also was a 1964 graduate of LaSalle College in Philadelphia with a degree in political science and prelaw.
For the past 29 years, he was employed by Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa., as a traffic manager.
He began there in 1968 to start the International Traffic Department.
He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Hagerstown Traffic Company Association; National Defense Traffic Association; Maryland Fraternal Order of Police; and was a social member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro.
He helped with various sports programs in Franklin County, Pa., and at Waynesboro YMCA.
He was interested in thoroughbred horse racing and NASCAR racing.
He studied the family history of the Mumma farm in Sharpsburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Glenda Kay Whitlock Mumma, whom he married on Sept. 9, 1966; two sons, Eric Charles Mumma and Christopher Edward Mumma, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Richard Mumma and Thomas Mumma, both of Hagerstown; one niece; and one nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro.
The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Dolores V. Polley
WILLIAMSPORT - Dolores Virginia Polley, 56, of 15446 Falling Waters Road, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1941, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin and Helen May Boyer McKinsey.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Polley Sr.; two daughters, Betsy Virginia Polley, at home, and Sandra Jean Hill of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert Lee Polley Jr., Ronald Leroy Polley and Douglas Wayne Polley, all of Williamsport; four sisters, Betty Grove and Loretta Thompson, both of Hagerstown, Jeanntte Vaughn and Valerie Polley, both of Williamsport; two brothers, John McKinsey Sr. of Hagerstown and Robert McKinsey Sr. of Williamsport; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
The Rev. Daniel A. Jordan will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Elizabeth A.K. Besecker
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Knepper Besecker, 40, of 1972 Wenger Lane, died Friday, April 11, 1997, at her home.
Born Oct. 9, 1956, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of Wilmer and Agnes Keating Knepper of Chambersburg.
She was a 1974 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
She also was a 1986 graduate of Franklin County Vo-Tech Nursing Program.
She was employed as a licensed practical nurse for the past two years by ManorCare Nursing Home, Carlisle, Pa.
She had previously been employed by several other area nursing homes.
She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, Chambersburg, where she sang with the choir.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Besecker, whom she married on Sept. 2, 1977; one daughter, Emily Ann Besecker, at home; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; one sister, Colleen Wallace of Greenvillage, Pa.; one brother, Dennis Knepper of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; six step-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; and a brother, Daniel Knepper.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of The Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N. Main St., Chambersburg.
The Rev. William H. Harter will officiate.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa.
Catherine C. Wagner
Catherine C. Wagner, 82, formerly of Williamsport, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Avalon Manor, Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 26, 1914, in Mt. Savage, Md., she was the daughter of the late Owen and Clara Carter.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt. Savage.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
There will be no services or viewing.

Gareth W. Kline
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Gareth W. Kline, 58, of Middletown, who died Thursday, April 3, 1997, is also survived by a daughter, Lisa Kline Mills of Knoxville, Md.; and three grandsons.
Paul G. Shriver
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Paul Gilbert Shriver, 88, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Shenandoah Home, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 26, 1908, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles L. and Amanda Richard Shriver.
He had been employed by General Motors in Martinsburg.
He was previously a farmer.
He was a life member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, Hott Memorial Sunday School Class and Men's Chorus.
He was a baseball player for Blairton and Interwoven baseball teams.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Naomi Dick Shriver; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Gilbert Shriver; four sisters, Grace Shriver, Dicy A. Watson, Inez M. McIntyre and Helen V. Foltz; and two brothers, Calvin H. Shriver and C. Lester Shriver.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg. The Rev. Theodore D. Higby will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Mary D.F. Mowen
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary D. Fox Mowen, 85, a resident of ManorCare Nursing Home, and formerly of State Line, Pa., and Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born April 14, 1911, in Lemasters, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Henry Fox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Mowen, in 1980.
She was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
She is survived by one son, Clifford L. Mowen of State Line; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; four nieces; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Black and Ruth Clary.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. Pastor R. Edward Hampton and Pastor Eric H. Mowen will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
