Gregory A. Wine

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Gregory A. Wine, 49, formerly of Grand Rapids, died Friday, April 11, 1997, in Grandville, Mich.

He was the son of Helen A. Wine of Grand Rapids and the late Marion A. Wine.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wine of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Jonathan Wine of Martinsburg; one sister, Cynthia Leversay of Walker, Mich.; one niece; one nephew; one aunt; and his former wife, Katrina L. Wine.

Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie St., West Building, Grandville.

The Rev. Danner will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park, Grandville.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Robert E. Hurley

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Robert Edward Hurley, 73, of 8958 Tomstown Road, died Friday, April 11, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born April 15, 1923, in Mechanicsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward Isaac and Edythe Mae Renard Hurley.

Shortly after his mother's death, he entered Quincy Orphanage where he lived until he was 18 years old.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lorraine Creager Hurley, in 1963.

He attended Quincy, Pa., schools.

He learned his trade as a printer from Quincy Orphanage.

After leaving the orphanage, he worked for the Record Herald, Waynesboro, and then Caslon Press of Waynesboro.

He then was a printer at Robson and Kaye Printing Co. in Chambersburg, Pa., and went to Baltimore to work for U.S. Government Printing Office.

After returning to the area, he worked for Kerr Printing in Chambersburg.

He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, in the printing department and retired in 1983.

He was veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army, Headquarters Co., 2nd Battalion, 80th Infantry Division, in the European Theater.

He was the recipient of three Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and Middle Eastern Campaign.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fairview Ward, Waynesboro, where he was also a member of AARONIC Priesthood and the Melchizedek Priesthood.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He served as an advisor for Explorer Post 31.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Manahan Hurley, whom he married on Aug. 25, 1965; stepmother, Mable M. Zinn Hurley Mell of Newville, Pa.; one daughter, Deanna Mae Gossert Bonebrake of Waynesboro; one son, R. Eugene Hurley of Waynesboro; one sister, Helen M. Hopple of Camp Hill, Pa.; one half-sister, Blanche Leona Kelley of Newville; one half-brother, Carl J. Hurley of Newville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Louetta Mae Hurley; and one brother, Glenn Hurley.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro.

Bishop R. Eugene Hurley will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Vivian B. Moody

Vivian B. Moody, 84, of 458 Park Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at the home of her niece, Margaret E. Washington.

Born Jan. 24, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Margaret Broom Bell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Moody, in 1987.

She was a resident of Baltimore for more than 50 years and was a beautician during that time.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Joe Fowlkes will officiate.

Burial will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service Tuesday.

Walter M. Beard

Walter McCullian Beard, 86, of 13709 Lois St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 1, 1910, in State Line, Pa., he was the son of the late John H. and Mary Elizabeth Bouders Beard.

He was employed by Callas Construction and retired in 1975.

He enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie B. Beard; two daughters, Dorothy Kemmet and Mary Beard, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Lester Beard of Chambersburg, Pa., and Gary Showe of Kissimmee, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 15 sisters and brothers.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Richard W. Simpson will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Victor C. Robinson

Victor Clark Robinson, 75, of 45632 National Pike, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 1, 1922, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Roy McKinley and Charlotte Mae Clark Robinson.

He was a 1941 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He retired from Fairchild Industries after 46 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring.

He was a member of the reunion committee of the class of 1941 of Hagerstown High School.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene K. Coberly Robinson; two daughters, Vickie L. First of Columbus, Ohio, and Charlene Gale Carter of Perry Point, Md.; two sons, Steven D. Robinson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dwayne C. Robinson of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; four sisters, Vera V. Marker of Middletown, Md., Charlotte Reta Hamby of Hagerstown, Grace E. Linebaugh of Funkstown, and Jeane Shindle of Williamsport; one brother, Ned D. Robinson of Smithsburg; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Guy F. Robinson; and two brothers, Guy F. Robinson and Leroy M. Robinson.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Roger I. Martin will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Clear Spring, with military graveside honors conducted by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Boyd S. Godlove Jr.

Boyd Scott "Pete" Godlove Jr., 72, of 853 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 13, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Boyd Scott Godlove Sr. and Helen Leota Dorsey Godlove.

He was employed by Iron Workers Union Local 5.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 217 A.F.&A.M. and Board of Policy-Liberty Lobby.

He is survived by one sister, Nancy G. Ebersole of York Haven, Pa.; three nieces; four nephews; 23 grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward W. Godlove.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted by Hagerstown Lodge 217 at 7 p.m.

Patricia A. Delaney

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Patricia Ann Delaney, 53, of Route 4, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, in Morgan County, W.Va.

Born Feb. 11, 1944, in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John and Gloria Bettehlo Rosa and stepdaughter of Mary Rosa of Providence, R.I.

She was employed as a recreation center supervisor at The Woods Resort.

In addition to her stepmother, she is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Battista of Manassas, Va., and Lisa A. Hengemihle of Hedgesville; one son, Richard P. Raposa of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one foster daughter, Shelly Wilburn of Hedgesville; one sister, Madeline McElroy of Massachusetts; two brothers, John Rosa of Sommerset, Mass., and Ray Rosa of Rhode Island; two grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; and former husband and friend, Raymond J. Delaney.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

The Rev. Eddie H. Edmonds will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Willis C. Lane

Willis Carson Lane, 68, of 422 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Center, Washington, D.C.

Born Aug. 27, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Levering Joshua and Beulah Mae Hurtman Lane.

He was a 1946 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Air Force and was involved in the Berlin Airlift.

He was a member of Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 42, AARP, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 694.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1936 and AMVETS Post 10.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra Hines of Maugansville and Cathy Harnish of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sons, Dennis Lane of Greencastle, Pa., and Douglas Lane of Hagerstown; two sisters, Lillian Smith of Hagerstown and Alma Fay Durling of Indialantic, Fla.; three brothers, Alfred Lane and Orval Lane, both of Hagerstown, and Neil Lane of Delaware; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel A. Lane; and one brother, Cletus Lane.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Steven Lane will officiate.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 1936.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
