Davis G. Hall Sr.
SHELBY, Ohio - Davis Garvin Hall Sr., 73, of 16 Vernon Road, and formerly of 8 Bradley Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at MedCentral/Shelby Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Morehead, Ky., he was the son of the late Dennis and Cornelia Fisher Hall.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dessie Stevens Hall, who died in 1994.
A former resident of West Virginia, he moved to Hagerstown in 1968, and returned to Shelby in 1993.
He was formerly employed with Wilkins Air Force Depot, and had also worked at Shelby Equity, Shelby AMF Co., and farmed with Lowell Strauch, and was employed with Price Farms in Hagerstown for 22 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Normandy Beach invasion.
He was a member of Shelby American Legion O'Brien Post 326.
He is survived by three daughters, Patsy Hicks of Shelby, Betty Jo Benton of Hagerstown, and Patty Simmons of Wisconsin; five sons, Dennis Lee Hall, James C. Hall of Shelby, Davis Hall Jr. and Lowell Hall, all of Hagerstown, and Dennis Robert Hall, of Texas City, Texas; two sisters, Mary Ann Takos and Faye Walton Phillips, both of Shelby; two brothers, Cleo Hall of Mansfield, and Charles Hall of Shelby; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester Hall, Wilbur Hall and George Avery Hall.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Barkdull Funeral Home, 33 N. Gamble St., Shelby. The Rev. June M. Fryman will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Lewis O. Alewine
INWOOD, W.Va. - Lewis O. Alewine III, of Inwood, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Born Dec. 2, 1996, in Martinsburg, he was the infant son of Lewis Alewine Jr. and Rachel Cummins of Inwood.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his twin brother, Matthew Ernest Alewine, at home; paternal grandparents, Lewis O. and Betty Alewine of Lexington, S.C., and Gene and Elsie Allen of Kearneysville, W.Va.; maternal grandparents, Roger and Jennifer Moreland of Paw Paw, W.Va.; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Blackwelder of Martinsburg.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg. The Rev. Edward E. Rogers will officiate.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
Herbert D. Coss Sr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Herbert D. Coss Sr., 87, formerly of Leitersburg Pike, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at Penn Hall Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 2, 1909, near Leitersburg, he was the son of the late William S. and Emma K. Justice Coss.
He was employed at Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of St. Peters Beard Lutheran Church, Old Forge Road, Leitersburg.
He also was a member of M.C.E.A.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor M. Unger Coss; one daughter, Gloria Jean Cunningham of Hagerstown; one son, Herbert D. Coss Jr. of West Friendship, Md.; one sister, Mildred P. Bostetter of Hagerstown; three granddaughters; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Beard Lutheran Church, Old Forge Road, Leitersburg. The Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Olive C. Palmer
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Olive C. Palmer, 87, of Scravel Road, died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Oct. 18, 1909, in Wolfsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Calvin E. and Ada Alice Lizer Kline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Palmer, who died in 1975.
She was a member of Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church in Myersville.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Swope and Evelyn Lewis, both of Boonsboro; two sons, Glenn A. Palmer and Melvin Palmer, both of Myersville; two sisters, Ruth Flehing of Missouri and Hazel Watson of Hagerstown; one brother, Charles "Lindy" Kline of Smithsburg; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Gerald Palmer; two sisters; five brothers; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church in Myersville. The Rev. Nancy Green will officiate. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Amelia C. Wasson
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Amelia C. Wasson, 67, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at her home.
Born March 19, 1929, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Nelson H. and Pauline Byers Grove.
Her husband, George W. "Buddy" Wasson Jr., died in 1989.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris Wasson, at home, Cynthia Wasson and Paula LeHew, both of Martinsburg; one son, George W. "Bill" Wasson IV of Martinsburg; one sister, Carrie Copenhaver of Martinsburg; two brothers, Clifford N. Grove of Florence, S.C., and Paul E. Grove of Darkesville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, George W. Wasson III.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp and Earl Harriston, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Dale R. Winders
Dale Rodney Winders, 71, of 10817 Mapleville Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 8, 1925, in Beaver Creek, he was the son of the late Hubert B. and Elsie M. Martz Winders.
He was a 1943 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
He was a farmer.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Verda K. Pryor Winders, whom he married July 23, 1954; one daughter, Linda Wagner of Hagerstown; two sons, Mark A. Winders and Randy Mathew Winders, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Virginia Martin of Hagerstown; one brother, Norwood Winders of Hagerstown and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. David Eberly will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Ronald O. Ehrhart
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Ronald O. "Cris" Ehrhart, 81, of 36 S. Allison St., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Sept. 30, 1915, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late Crissey O. and Mary Ester Shatzer Ehrhart.
He was a 1934 graduate of St. Thomas High School. He then graduated from Naval Air Technical Training School in Norman, Okla., in 1944.
He was employed as a supervisor at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing in Hagerstown from 1942 until retiring in 1978.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.
He also was a member of Detrich Brechbill American Legion Post 612 in St. Thomas, Fairchild Retirees Club, and Last Man's Club of Detrich Brechbill American Legion Post 612 in St. Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Katherine "Kay" Morter Ehrhart, whom he married June 30, 1939; one daughter, Sandra McCulloh of Greencastle; one son, Cris Ronald Ehrhart of Greencastle; two sisters, Mary Ester Witmer of Greencastle, and Mildred Statler, a resident of Shook Home in Chambersburg; two brothers, Orrin Ehrhart of St. Thomas, Oscar Ehrhart of Edenville, Pa.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ortha Brant; and four brothers, Crissey O. Ehrhart, Forest Ehrhart, Winfield Ehrhart and Clayton Merie Ehrhart.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. David J. Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, Pa., with military graveside services conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles M. Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599 in Chambersburg.

Thomas W. Ingram Sr.
ROHRERSVILLE - Thomas William Ingram Sr., 72, of 20222 Rohrersville School Road, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 24, 1924, in Dargan, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Viola Virginia Burgan Ingram.
He retired from State Use Industries with Maryland state government in Hagerstown in 1989 after 28 years of service.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville.
He also was a member of Antietam Lodge 197 A.F.&A. Masons in Keedysville, and a former member of Rohrersville Ruritan Club.
He was former coach of Rohrersville Little League.
He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Sandy Ingram, whom he married June 14, 1945; one daughter, Debra K. "Debbie" Knight of Hagerstown; three sons, Thomas W. Ingram Jr. of Maugansville, Ronald L. Ingram of Sharpsburg and Chuck E. Ingram of Keedysville; one sister, Martha Wilkerson of Hagerstown; seven brothers, Herbert Ingram of Smithsburg, Bobby Ingram and Larry Ingram, both of Hagerstown, Eyerly Ingram and Donald Ingram, both of Sharpsburg, Roland Ingram of Keedysville, and Willis Ingram of Baltimore; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Giffin and Virginia Ingram; and one brother, Buddy Ingram.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Carolyn Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rohrersville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
