CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Melvin D. Shand, 53, of 1107 Hamilton Park, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
He was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Jamaica.
He graduated from high school.
He is survived by his wife, Connie S. Tucker and two daughters, Sherronica Tucker and Lisa Shand, both of Chambersburg.
Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Chambersburg Bible Church, corner of Stanley Avenue and Orchard Drive, Chambersburg. Pastor David W. Kraft will officiate.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro, Pa.
L. Virginia K. Brubaker
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - L. Virginia Kriner Brubaker, 78, of 14325 Buchanan Trail East, formerly of Greencastle, Pa., and Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., died Friday, April 25, 1997, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Sept. 29, 1918, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Homer C. and E. Ruth Decker Kriner.
She was a 1936 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She and her husband owned and operated Brubaker's Gas Mart in Blue Ridge Summit, for 25 years and retired in 1985.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, J. Harold Brubaker Sr.; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph H. Brubaker Jr., who died in Vietnam; and one sister, C. Elizabeth Stone.
Private graveside services will be today in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mary A.B. Barton
BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Mary Alice Birely Barton, 92, of 13639 Crawford Ave., died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at St. Catherine Nursing Center, Emmitsburg, Md.
Born June 16, 1904, in Highfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late Marvin F. and Alice V. Moser Birely. She lived her early life in Sabillasville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardon K. Barton, in 1967.
She was a 1923 graduate of Thurmont High School, Thurmont, Md. She then graduated from Waynesboro Business College, Waynesboro, Pa., and studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore.
She was first employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill, Waynesboro. She then was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk at the Blue Ridge Summit Post Office for 15 1/2 years and retired in 1972.
She was a member of Hawley's Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, where she was the church organist for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Women's Association.
She played the piano at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Sabillasville, at minstrel shows in Sabillasville, and at Thurmont High School during lunch time, dances and shows.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by four sisters, Ethel J. Zimmerman of Catonsville Md., Helen B. DeLawter of Timonium, Md., Eleanor R. Birely of Washington, D.C., and Doris M. Kepner of Oxen Hill, Md.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold F. Birely, M. Raymond Birely Sr., Donald L. Birely and infant William Birely.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit. Pastor Robert S. Edmundson will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday.

Victor L. Evans
Victor Lionel Evans, 90, formerly of 51 Elgin Blvd., and a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Home, Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 24, 1906, in Sistersville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Sallie Howard Evans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Thea Evans.
He was employed by Ray Kline Roofing and owner of Long's Barbecue.
He is survived by two daughters, Deleen Harris of Sistersville and JoAnn Smith of Mapleville, Md.; one sister, Hazel Grove of Frederick, Md.; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald N. Kretzer will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Archers Chapel Cemetery, Tyler County, W.Va.

Gladys M.R.F. Gilreath
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gladys Mae Ray Fleagle Gilreath, 73, of 321 Ringgold St., died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born June 9, 1923, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Ida Mae Summers Ray.
She attended Clay Hill schools.
She was employed as a machine operator for 36 years by Waynesboro Knitting Mill, Waynesboro, until its closing. She then attended Franklin County Vo-Tech to became a certified nurse's assistant. She worked in private homes until she retired in 1996.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro, and she visited shut-ins for the church.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette M. Naylor of Waynesboro; one son, Delbert Lee Fleagle of Waynesboro; one sister, Blanche Dunkin of Keedysville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Thompson; and three brothers, Kenneth Ray Sr., Norman Ray Sr. and Lloyd Ray.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro. Pastor Richard A. Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg, Pa.

WINCHESTER, Va. - Edith F. Harrison, 75, of Opequon Avenue, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1921, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late V.T. and Gertrude Cloud Hardy.
She was employed in the laundry department at Handley High School, Winchester.
She was a member of Peoples Country Church, Winchester.
She is survived by her husband, Evan W. "Bob" Harrison.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester. Pastor Phillip Roby will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

KEEDYSVILLE - Jacqueline Delores "Jackie" Williamson, 65, of 6431 Coffman Farms Road, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at her home.
She was born May 7, 1931, in Hagerstown.
She was employed by Washington County Hospital and the state of Maryland for 11 years.
She was a member of AARP and Redmen Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Williamson Sr.; one daughter, Victoria L. Sprecher of Hagerstown; three sons, Robert C. Williamson Jr. and Gary A. Brown, both of Hagerstown, and Curtis R. Williamson of Marlowe, W.Va.; one adopted sister, Esther Thomas of Keedysville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Andrew J. Cooney will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

LEITERSBURG - Anabel Mamie Barnes, 77, of 21449 Leiter St., died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at her daughters' home in Frederick, Md.
Born Oct. 3, 1919, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Iva Gardenhour.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Clyde Barnes, in 1986.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leitersburg.
She was a member of Homemakers Club.
She was interested in sports.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Weller of Frederick; two sons, Robert F. Barnes and Michael C. Barnes, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Helen Stephan of Miami; a friend, Richard Knight of Mt. Airy, Md.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one niece.
