George R. Pague
MONT ALTO, Pa. - George R. Pague, 77, of 318 Verdier Ave., formerly of Shippensburg, Pa., Waynesboro, Pa., and St. Cloud, Fla., died Friday, April 25, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George F. and Dove Priest Pague.
He was a graduate of Shippensburg High School. He attended the College of Medicine in Philadelphia for three years.
He was employed by South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa., as a supervisor in the electrical department. He retired in 1982 after 27 years of service.
He also owned and operated George's Electrical Service, Mont Alto.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army.
He attended Central Baptist Church, Mont Alto.
He was a life member of Mont Alto Fire Co., Mont Alto; A.T.H.&L. Fire Co., Waynesboro, Pa.; and Narcoossee Volunteer Fire Co., Narcoossee, Fla. He also was a volunteer emergency medical technician for Narcoossee Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Haugh Pague, whom he married on June 11, 1948; one daughter, Linda L. Bittle of Charles Town, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepsister, Louise McKean.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor R.W. Skidmore will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gwendolyn G. Hopkins
Gwendolyn Grace Hopkins, 73, of 1341 Cedarwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at her home.
Born Aug. 12, 1923, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Robinson Skelly.
She was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a supervisor, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse M. Hopkins; four stepdaughters, Ann Marie Hopkins of Gaithersburg, Md., Sarah C. Rachel of McLean, Va., Kathleen Selivonik of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Mary Claire Lantz of Huntingtown, Md.; one stepson, George Michael Hopkins of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several sisters and brothers; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Linda L.T. Wahler
WILLIAMSPORT - Linda Lee Toms Wahler, 53, of Milestone Garden Apartments, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 2, 1944, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Bernard L. and Marilyn L. Kennedy Toms.
She was a member of Paramount Brethren In Christ Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Ladies of Elks Lodge 378.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Wahler; one daughter, Michele Wahler Selby of Suffolk, Va.; two sons, John M. Wahler of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jeffery S. Wahler of Hagerstown; two brothers, Gary L. Toms and Terry A. Toms, both of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Paula Jean Toms; and one brother, Donald E. "Sharkey" Toms.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Emma L.D. Brown
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Emma Lolita Downin Brown, 93, of 803 N. Wahneta St., died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa.
Born Nov. 20, 1903, in Wilson, Md., she was the daughter of the late David Victor and Emma Katherine Corbett Downin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt W. Brown Sr.
She was a graduate of Towson State Normal School and Kutztown (Pa.) University.
She was a teacher at Palmer School, retiring in 1975. She also was a teacher at Hecktown and Surrey elementary schools in Hagerstown. She was a principal at Downsville Elementary School.
She was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Bethlehem, Pa. She was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent.
She was a member of Eastern Star Calypso Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma and American Association of University Women.
She is survived by one son, Merritt Brown Jr. of Easton, Pa.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Robert I. Brown; one sister, Nellie Wolfinger; and two brothers, Thomas Downin and Bruce Downin.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 75 E. Market St., Bethlehem. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Bethlehem.
There will be no visitation.

Clarence A. Coats Sr.
ADAMSTOWN, Md. - Clarence Allen Coats Sr., 70, of 7501 Mountain Approach Road, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 23, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Maxwell Eamean and Iva Blanch Wilson Coats.
He owned and operated E-Z Powr Distributors in Adamstown.
He was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, Adamstown, where he sang in the church choir.
He was a former member of Frederick Seratoma Club.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois Joyce Jackson Coats; five children, Clarence A. Coats Jr. of Frederick, Debra A. Beard of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Neil B. Coats of Walkersville, Md., Diane E. Ketterman of Sharpsburg and Harold K. Coats of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; four brothers, Maxwell Coats of Las Vegas, Robert Coats of St. Augustine, Fla., Lowell Coats of Adamstown and Charles Coats of Damascus, Md.; nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob Winters and Harold Coats.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Elmer R. Breeden will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Betty J. Swisher
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Betty Jane Swisher, 72, of Warfordsburg, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Mt. Union, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Homer D. and Elsie Snyder Estep.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Swisher, in 1980.
She was employed by the former Sagner Manufacturing Co., McConnellsburg. She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Winters of Warfordsburg, Cindy Mohar of Hagerstown, Colleen Swisher of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Debra Leatherman of Clear Spring; two sons, John D. Swisher of Berkeley Springs and Raymond Swisher of Clarksville, Tenn.; one half-sister in Alliance, Ohio; seven granddaughters; 10 grandsons; and seven great-granddaughters.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Denver Plessinger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Mildred B. Gaver
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Mildred B. Gaver, 89, of Myersville, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at Northampton Manor, Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 20, 1908, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Rosa C. Kinna Baker.
Her husband, Ralph R. Gaver, died in 1973.
She retired from Rosenauer's Department Store in Frederick in 1970.
She was a member of Harmony Community Lutheran Church, and attended Myersville Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn G. Venezky of Alexandria, Va.; three sons, Bernard L. Gaver and Merle R. Gaver, both of Myersville, and Donald G. Gaver of Ellicott City, Md.; two sisters, Alice Linton and Evelyn Rhoderick, both of Frederick; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was prececed in death by two sisters, Helen Shafrick and Thelma Baker; and one brother, Ray Baker.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Myersville. The Rev. Tracy Wiser will officiate.

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Tharon R. "Rose" Henretta, 73, of Route 2, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at I.H.S. Nursing Home, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born July 16, 1923, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late David H. and Lillian E. Walker Henretta.
She was a member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, Martinsburg.
She is survived by seven daughters, Sharon A. Young of Macon, Ga., Norma Jean Lawrence of Inwood, W.Va., Norma June Bageant of Martinsburg, Lillian B. Hahn of Kearneysville, Helen B. Heflin of California, Carolyn M. Enns of York, Pa., and Victoria L. Myers of Summit Point, W.Va.; four sons, Melvin D. Heflin of Eastlake, Ohio, Ernest L. Heflin of Inwood, Howard W. Alger of Bedington, W.Va., and William A. Heflin of Martinsburg; one sister, Katherine L. Crowell of Martinsburg; one brother, David H. Henretta of Sarasota, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
