Mary E. Beans
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Mary E. Beans, 96, formerly of Myersville, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born March 3, 1900, in Wolfsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Theophilis and Rosa Mae Kline Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Beans, in 1938.
She was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosa Michael of Hagerstown, and Ruth Smith of Boonsboro; one sister, Ruth Kline of Smithsburg; two brothers, Albert Pryor and Maurice Pryor, both of Fahrney-Keedy Village in Boonsboro; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Lily Delauter, May Kline, Ina Baumbaugh, Vera Willard, Susan Early and Nettie Woodring; and three brothers, Calvin Pryor, Edgar Pryor and Harry Pryor.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ted Yates
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ted Yates, 80, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
He was born March 14, 1916, in Middleburg, Va.
He was employed as a truck driver.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one son, Ted Yates Jr.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The Rev. Tom Tennis will officiate.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
Paul R. Coffman
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Paul R. Coffman, 88, of 81 W. Main St., died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 16, 1908, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Fannie Beard Coffman.
His wife, Janet Sarbaugh Coffman, died in 1967. They were married July 3, 1937.
He was a 1926 graduate of Waynesboro High School, and a 1932 graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., with a mechanical engineering degree.
He worked at Landis Tool Co. and Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro for a number of years. He was employed by Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown from 1959 until his retirement in 1974.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro, where he served on the church consistory for eight years. He also served as the church's representative to the Waynesboro Council of Churches and was a church usher for 10 years.
He was a life member of A.T.H.&L. Volunteer Fire Co., serving as chaplain from 1982 until his death. He also was a member of American Legion Joe Steckle Post 15, Eagles Club Inc., and Owls Club. He was past president of Order of the Owls Nest 1075 in Waynesboro, and was active in the Senior Citizens Center in Waynesboro.
He is survived by one son, Allen B. Coffman of Chambersburg; one sister, Mildred Coffman of Waynesboro; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Snyder-Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., corner of South Church and West Second streets, Waynesboro. The Rev. Frank Monroe will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

John D. Weller
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John David Weller, 79, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at his home.
Born Dec. 8, 1917, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Susan VanMetre Weller.
Early in life, he was a farmer, and was later a self-employed plasterer.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ashton Weller; three sisters, Elizabeth Jane Tabler of Garner, N.C., Bessie Pearl Porter of Hagerstown, and Ella Louise Richards of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Weller and Charles E. Weller Jr.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Chester F. Reecher
ANNANDALE, Va. - Chester Freeland Reecher, 90, of Annandale, died Monday, Oct. 21, 1996, at Woodbine Health and Rehabilitation Center in Alexandria, Va.
Born April 11, 1906, he was the son of the late Aaron E. and Nettie McCoy Reecher. He was the stepson of the late Alice Alberta Jones Reecher.
He is survived by two half-brothers, Marvin Reecher of Tulsa, Okla., and Kenneth Reecher of Portland, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Reecher; a brother, Frank Reecher, and an infant brother.
A memorial service was held Nov. 13, at Evergreen House in Annandale. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
George R. Rock
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - George R. Rock, 60, of 190 Chamberlin Road, and formerly of 1515 Highland Terrace, Wayne Heights, Waynesboro, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born Jan. 25, 1936, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Catherine W. Wink Rock of Waynesboro, and the late Cletus L. Rock.
He graduated from Washington Township High School in 1954. He also graduated from Norton Grinding School in Connecticut, and Dale Carnegie Speaking Course.
He learned the machinist trade at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro. He then was employed by Cavatron Corp. in Long Island, N.Y., as a salesperson and service manager, and then for Mack Trucks in Hagerstown as a foreman. He later owned and operated Rock's Atlantic Station and U-Haul on Main Street in Waynesboro.
After moving to Shippensburg, he and his wife owned and operated Rock's Arco and Rock's Exxon Stations, both in Shippensburg. He retired in October 1993 after suffering a heart attack.
He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro, and attended Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg.
He also was a member of Pennsylvania Auto Mechanics Association, American Diabetes Association, and National AARP.
He enjoyed restoring Ford Mustangs, auto racing, attending his grandchildren's sporting activities and helped to coach the Civitian Pony League in Chambersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sarah L. Gehr Rock, whom he married July 6, 1956; two daughters, Rose R. Martin of Waynesboro, and Georgia R. Adams of Willow Hill, Pa.; one son, Samuel E. Rock of Orrstown, Pa.; one sister, Leona Monn of Waynesboro; one brother, David Rock of Nokesville, Va.; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Jaye M. Bartle will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery near Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

James W. Prather Sr.
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - James W. Prather Sr., 62, of Route 5, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 12, 1934, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Earl and Virginia Lemaster Prather.
He was owner and operator of Poor Boys Recycling.
He was a member of Bethany Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Wise Prather; three daughters, Robin Lynn Norris of Kirby, W.Va., Wendy Marie Roy and Winnie F. Sine, both of Hedgesville; one son, James W. Prather Jr. of Virginia; two sisters, Virginia Chambers of Inwood, W.Va., and Agnes Warren of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Lewis William Prather of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Paul L. Flick will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.

William E. Newbill
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - William Edward Newbill, 84, of 120 Pickering Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at his home.
He was born in Clover, Va., and moved to the Central Florida area in 1974 from Hagerstown.
He was a retired mechanic with American Oil Co. in Washington, D.C.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by one daughter, Billie Louise Ferguson of Dayton, Ohio; one son, William Edward Newbill Jr. of Bunker Hill, Ind.; one sister, Hazel Gosney of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Grissom Funeral Home in Kissimmee.
Frances E. Plogger
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Frances Eileen Plogger, 65, of Route 2, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 2, 1931, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Turner and Frances Iota Hoover Noll.
Her first husband, George C. Siler, preceded her in death.
She retired from General Motors after 26 years of service.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Jones Spring, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin T. Plogger; one daughter, Joyce C. Pitzer of Hedgesville; seven stepchildren, Lanny Plogger, Brenda Hulvey, Linda Whetzel and Julia Wean, all of Broadway, Va., Denny Plogger and Elaina Tinnell, both of Timberville, Va., and Janet Spitler of Mount Jackson, Va.; three sisters, Ruth Ashton of Shanghai, W.Va., Lucille Michael of Martinsburg, and Carolyn Towner of Indianapolis; four brothers, Turner Noll Jr. of Hedgesville, Roy Noll of Pittsburgh, Paul Noll of Portland, Ore., and George Noll of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce H. Noll.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg. The Rev. Lester A. Kisner and the Rev. Jerry Holdman will officiate.
