Gary A. Stotler
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - Gary A. Stotler, 43, of 6521 Jodie St., died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at Doctors Hospital, Lanham, Md.
Born Nov. 20, 1953, in Germany, he was the son of Earl L. and Agnes L. Beach Stotler Sr. of Waynesboro, Pa.
He was self-employed as a carpenter, building and remodeling homes in the Silver Spring and Potomac, Md., areas.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Stotler of Silver Spring, Md.; one son, Bradley J. Stotler of Silver Spring; one sister, Terri S. Jewett of Woodbridge, Va.; one brother, Earl L. Stotler Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.
Colbie A. Daywalt
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Colbie A. Daywalt, 7, of 219 Joyce Drive, died Monday, April 28, 1997, at University Hospital/Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born March 23, 1990, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Troy E. and Kim Wilson Daywalt of Fayetteville.
He is survived by one sister, Emilie J. Daywalt, at home; one brother, Austin J.E. Daywalt, at home; maternal grandmother, LaWanda Wilson of Fayetteville; maternal grandparents, Gary and Ann Wilson of Dry Run, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Lee and Loretta Daywalt of Fayetteville; and maternal great-grandmother, Ruby Gray of Chambersburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ignasius Catholic Church, Buchanan Valley, Ortanna, Pa. The Rev. Carl Steffen will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ignasius Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.

Rosalie M.K. Gross
BOONSBORO - Rosalie M. Kretzer Gross, 71, of 27 Young Ave., died Monday, April 28, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 9, 1926, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late David Franklin and Carrie Mae Dean Kretzer.
She was a former employee of Leiter Brothers Department Store, Hagerstown, and Dr. Michael Doran, Boonsboro. She retired from the Washington County Board of Education, Boonsboro High School cafeteria.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Keedysville, where she was the church organist, youth choir director and former council member.
She also was a member of the ladies auxiliary to Clopper-Michael Post 10 American Legion, Boonsboro; South County Democratic Club; and AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Gross, whom she married July 23, 1960; one son, Robert W. Thomas of Pennsylvania; one brother, Donald D. Kretzer of Sharpsburg; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one brother, David Harold Kretzer.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Gary T. Bilbie and the Rev. Carroll L. Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John A. Phillips Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John A. Phillips Jr., 64, of Martinsburg, died Monday, April 28, 1997, at his home.
Born May 16, 1932, in Massillon, Ohio, he was the son of Mary C. Pittenger Phillips of Arbutus, Md., and the late John A. Phillips Sr.
He was a 1951 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School.
He retired from C&P Telephone Co. after 30 years; and Northern Telecom after 10 years as a supervisor.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Korean War.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Myersville, Md.
He also was a member of Telephone Pioneers and AMVETS.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doramae Peddicord Phillips; three daughters, Bonnie Jean Robinson of Myersville, Donna Mae Phillips of Martinsburg and Jo Ann Grigsby of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one son, John A. Phillips III of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Nina Mae Phillips of Arbutus, Md., and Priscilla Jane Walker of Bel Air, Md.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va. The Rev. Wendy Shullenbarger will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Panhandle Inc., 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Catherine C. Samuels
Catherine Chaminade Samuels, 80, of 208 W. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 11, 1916, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Orpha Nunamaker Leatherman.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was a life member of VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Paul Samuels; two sons, Donald E. Butts and Ronald A. Butts, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jo Leatherman; and a brother, Charles Albert Leatherman.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Keedysville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marshall V. Sharrer Sr.
THURMONT, Md. - Marshall Vernon Sharrer Sr., 77, of 153 N. Carroll St., died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Carroll County, Md., he was the son of the late David Leroy and Nova Matilda Bell Sharrer.
He was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He also was a dairy farmer in the Rocky Ridge Md., area.
He was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge.
He was instrumental in community projects of the Emmitsburg Lions Club, Emmitsburg, Md.
He served on the Mt. Tabor Park Board for years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He fished and camped.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Elvina Valentine Sharrer, whom he married Aug. 28, 1940; three daughters, Mary Ann Harbaugh of Thurmont, Jeanne Angleberger of Rocky Ridge and Sharon L. Froelich of Long Beach, Miss.; four sons, Marshall V. Sharrer Jr. of Emmitsburg, Dale L. Sharrer of Thurmont, Robert L. Sharrer of Ocala, Fla., and Paul David Sharrer of Fairfield, Pa.; three sisters, Esther Moffitt and Louise Price, both of Hanover, Pa., and Mabel Thomas of Taneytown, Md.; one brother, Kenneth Sharrer of Keymar, Md.; 16 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald L. Sharrer; and one brother, Francis Sharrer.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. The Rev. James Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born June 8, 1958, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Nickolas and Fern A. Walker Protos of Rockville, Md.
He was the manager and operator of the Greenbrier Inn, Boonsboro.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Terri Protos; two sisters, Soly Zdanis of Gaithersburg, Md., and Paula Siedlarz of Indian Mills, N.J.; two brothers, James Walker Protos of Sterling, Va., and Christopher Wayne Protos of Adamstown, Md.; four nieces and nephews; and aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W. Seventh St., Frederick. The Rev. Ernest Arambiges will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, Va.
