Margaret L. Pepper

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Margaret L. Pepper, 88, of the Shook Home, Chambersburg, and formerly of Twining Village, Holland, Pa., died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Oct. 3, 1908, in Bloomington, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Alva and Pearl Stockwell Owens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster L. Pepper, on Aug. 15, 1989.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara L. Urban of Lucas, Texas; one son, Kenneth O. Pepper of Fayetteville, Pa.; one sister, Maude Loos of Tonawanda, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son; one granddaughter; one sister; and one brother.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pa. Burial will be private.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests flowers be sent to the Shook Home, 55 S. Second St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Robert H. McCleaf Sr.

Robert Hartzel McCleaf Sr., 82, of 300 Cornell Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 26, 1914, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Hartzel and Mary Adella Carbaugh McCleaf.

He was employed by Fellows, Reed & Webber.

He also worked for Texaco for 35 years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.

He was a member of First Christian Church, where he was a Deacon, an usher and superintendent of Sunday school.

He was a member of BPO Elks 378 for 53 years and the American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42.

He was chairman of the board for Boy Scouts Troop 66.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel L. Palmer McCleaf; two daughters, Doris L. Wisler of Boonsboro and Joyce E. Kephart of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Steven L. McCleaf of Hagerstown and Robert H. McCleaf Jr. of Boonsboro; one sister, June Dann of Bellefonte, Pa.; one brother, Harold C. McCleaf of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, E. Louise Nuckels and Doris E. Showe; and two brothers, Ralph McCleaf and Grayson McCleaf.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Fred M. Harris and the Rev. Robert L. Reggenold will officiate.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. BPO Elks Lodge 378 will conduct a memorial service on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the John Marsh Cancer Center, Suite 129, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Kenneth F. Lowe Sr.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Kenneth Franklin Lowe Sr., 77, of Shepherdstown, died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at Canterbury of Shepherdstown.

Born June 16, 1919, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Douglas and Ella Walper Lowe Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Shultz Lowe.

He was the owner and operator of Lowe Brother's Construction Co., Shepherdstown, until his retirement.

He was a Knapp Shoe representative and was employed by Fairchild Aircraft.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during World War II.

He was interested in duckpin bowling, thoroughbred horse racing, golf and playing cards.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth F. Lowe Jr. of Shepherdstown; two sisters, Margaret Binns and Virginia Ramsburg, both of Shepherdstown; two brothers, Jay William Lowe of McLean, Va., and John Douglas Lowe Jr. of Shepherdstown; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Lowe and two brothers, Randolph Lowe and Eugene Lowe.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Randall Tremba will officiate.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.

Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, W.Va., 25443.

Paul J.J. Myers

WILLIAMSPORT - Paul J. Jiggs Myers, 86, of 327 S. Artizan St., died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 6, 1910, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Robert Lincoln and Ida Mae Davis Myers.

He was employed by Pangborn Corp., retiring in 1978 after 35 years of service.

He was a member of Williamsport Assembly of God.

He also was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club and Funkstown Rod & Gun Club.

He played baseball in the late 1930s for the Williamsport Wildcats, a semi-pro team.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Berneda J. Myers; one daughter, Ann G. Clinc of Hagerstown; one son, P. Philip Myers of Williamsport; two sisters, Myra Taylor and Ethel Hose, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Carl Myers and Kenneth Myers, both of Williamsport; one grandson; two great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Shank; and three brothers, Lester Myers, Robert Myers and Earl Myers.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Williamsport Assembly of God, Falling Waters Road, Williamsport.

The Rev. Daniel A. Jordan will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.

The funeral home will be open today after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Williamsport Assembly of God, 15251 Falling Waters Road, Williamsport, Md. 21795.

Charles W. Cox

Charles William Cox, 69, of 17428 Gay St., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 7, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles Cox and Anna Ferrazzano.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.

He retired from Mack Trucks.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He also was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and Mack Golden Bulldogs.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Cox; one daughter, Kathleen Kesecker of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one son, Charles W. Cox Jr. of Hagerstown; three sisters, Rose Lavelle of Cleveland, Lois Lavelle of Pittsburgh and Fran Hoffman of Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown.

The Rev. Keith Boisvert will be celebrant.

Burial, with military graveside services by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Donald W. Reeder

WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Elizabeth Roney, 94, who died Friday, May 2, 1997, is survived by a daughter, G. Harriet Downey of Williamsport.

Services will be officiated by the Rev. Victor Zuck.

Robert H. McCleaf Sr.

Services for Robert Hartzel McCleaf Sr., 82, who died Friday, May 2, 1997, will be officiated by the Rev. Robert L. Regenold.

Donna D.J. Bucchi

Donna D. Jennings Bucchi, 70, of Hagerstown, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Bousevain, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Emma Shoupe Jennings.

She was employed by Majestic Restaurant as a waitress until her retirement.

She was a member of the Walnut Towers Senior Citizens Association.

She was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by four daughters, Sheila Solarski of Robbinsville, N.J., Darlene Hay of Fairless Hills, N.J., Clara Ann Powell of Levittown, Pa., and Priscilla Corbo of San Bernadino, Calif.; two sons, Curtis Bucchi of Hamilton Township, N.J., and Roger Bucchi of Phoenix; one sister, Ruth Phipps of Morrisville, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday at Winowicz Funeral Home, Trenton, N.J.

The Rev. Leo A. Forstberg Jr. will officiate.

Burial will be in Saint Hedwig's Cemetery, Hamilton Township.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Reba M. Barkdoll

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Reba M. Barkdoll, 74, of Wolfsville Road, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at her home.

Born Nov. 20, 1922, in Wolfsville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Tabitha Palmer.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert S. Barkdoll; two daughters, Carolyn Garnand of Fairplay, and Janet I. Barkdoll of Myersville; one sister, Elsie Metzer of Myersville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Valerie Smith.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville.

The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery in Wolfsville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 1730 N. Market St., Frederick, Md. 21701.
