Amy A. McCormick
Amy A. McCormick, 74, of Garlock Nursing Home, and formerly of Hancock, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1922, in Millstone, Md., she was the daughter of the late John H. and Leslie Elizabeth Brakeall McCormick.
She was a life long member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hancock.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter W. McCormick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. George W. Glick will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Prayers will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock.
Elizabeth M. Younger
YARROWSBURG - Elizabeth M. "Lib" Younger, 79, of 19939 Yarrowsburg Road, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at her home.
Born Feb. 9, 1917, in Augusta Station, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Pinki Myrtle Long Potter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leonard Younger in 1982.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Brownsville Church of the Brethren, where she was a deacon and co-chairwoman of the Missions and Service Committee.
She was president of Pleasant Valley Senior Citizens and a member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by three sons, R. Joseph Younger of Manhattan, Kan., L. Perry Younger of Yarrowsburg and H. Vaughn Younger of Maugansville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Altha Best and one brother, Carson Potter.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Brownsville Heights Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

William A. Slaymaker
SHARPSBURG - William Abner Slaymaker, 50, of 17469 General Lee Dr., and formerly of Adamstown, Md., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 12, 1946, in White Hall, Md., he was the son of the late William Oliver and Esther Mae Laird Slaymaker.
He was the owner of Bill Slaymaker's Home Improvement Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Burnside Church of God.
He also was a member of American Legion Post 202, Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve A. Stine Slaymaker, whom he married April 27, 1971; one daughter, Lisa Mae Slaymaker of Sharpsburg; five sisters, Rose Wertz of Pomroy, Pa., Louise Coale of Adamstown, Florence Mitzel of Coatesville, Pa., Betty Berkeley of Honeybrook, Pa. and Nancy Shaub of Pennsylvania; and one brother, George Slaymaker of Honeybrook.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Ernest Witmer will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Ruth E.M. Skrabut
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Ruth E. Miller Skrabut, 98, formerly of 4566 Lemar Road, Lemasters, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Piney Mountain Nursing Home, where she resided.
Born July 20, 1898, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late David E. and Mary Seville Sharar.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Norris E. Sword and the Rev. H. Lyle Duffey will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Zula P. Knode
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Zula Park Knode, 85, a resident of Heartland of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 10, 1911, in Fabius, Hardy County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Irenus Larcenus and Cora Dell Bean Park.
Her husband, W. Edgar Knode, died in 1957. They were married September 1932.
After graduation from Moorefield High School in 1929 and Shepherd College in 1931, she taught school in Bethel, near Moorefield, W.Va.
She was a resident of Shepherdstown for 64 years.
She was an active business partner in W.H. Knode's Sons of Shepherdstown.
She was a member of New Street United Methodist Church.
She also was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 128.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Holcombe of Union Bridge, Md.; two sons, William E. Knode Jr. of Sharpsburg, and James G. Knode of Shepherdstown; one sister, Ada Halterman of New Martinsville, W.Va.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rockland, south of Shepherdstown, Saturday, Nov. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Burial will be private.

Mary M. McIntyre
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mary Madeline McIntyre, 78, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 1996, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born April 11, 1918, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Mamie Michael Miller.
She attended Mount Vernon School in Morgan County, W.Va.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She worked as a trimmer at Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Berkeley Springs, until its closing in 1964, and then worked as a presser at Londontown Manufacturing Co. in Hancock, until her retirement in 1984. She was a homemaker in recent years.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Wilbur Roscoe "Bud" McIntyre; one brother, Nevil E. Miller of Berkeley Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Mary Gebe Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Frederick County, Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday for the convenience of friends.
Fannie R.B. Ropp
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Fannie Rebecca Bussard Ropp, 97, formerly of Middletown, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick, Md.
Born March 9, 1899, near Middletown, she was the daughter of the late N.A. Steck and Alta Culler Bussard.
Her first husband, John A. Ropp, died in 1923.
Her second husband, George P. Ropp, died in 1983. They were married for 57 years.
She was a lifelong member, and at the time of her death, the oldest living member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. She taught Sunday school for several years in the junior department, and also was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class.
She is survived by three daughters, Helen Remsburg of Jefferson, Md., Evelyn Brandenburg of Middletown, and Beverly Campbell of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, M. Lee Ropp of Myersville, Md.; one brother, Maurice L. Bussard of Frederick; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Duvall; and one son, George Bernard Ropp.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and anytime Tuesday at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The family will receive friends today and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends also may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Chester A. Billman
Chester Adam Billman, 35, of 2003 Day Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, on Fritz Road near Mercersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 10, 1961, in Hagerstown, he is the son of Dimitra S. Eftim Billman of Hagerstown and the late Jack R. Billman.
He was employed as a master carpenter for Personal Touch Inc. Earl Wilk Construction Co., Hagerstown.
He was a former member of Hagerstown Lodge 212 Loyal Order of Moose.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Teresa A. Phetteplace Billman; three sons, Jack R. Billman, Clint B. Billman and Brandon W. Billman, all at home; seven sisters, Carol Martin of Lancaster, Pa., Linda Winebrenner of Waynesboro, Pa., Crystal Denlinger of Walkersville, Md., Jacqueline Crabtree and Frances Wade, both of Hagerstown, Darlene Billman of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Cheryl Green of Myersville, Md.; four brothers, Gerald Whiteside of Bald Knob, Ark., Jack Billman Jr. of Concrete, Wash., William Billman of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Jeffrey Billman of Hagerstown; and 30 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don Kretzer will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
