Ernest E. Laye
SMITHSBURG - Ernest Edward Laye, 81, of Bayer Drive and formerly of Fort Loudon Road, Mercersburg, Pa., who died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, was the son of the late R. Leonard Leigh and Blanche V. Mills.

Gladys P. Rowe
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Gladys P. Rowe, 83, of 5402 Treher Road, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, at her home.
Born July 27, 1913, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George R. and Laura H. Kuhn Swope.
Her husband, Wayne B. Rowe, died in 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Fayetteville Church of God.
She was a charter member of Fayetteville Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Joretta A. Wile and Laura H. Wishard, both of Fayetteville; two sons, Wayne J. Rowe Sr. and Glenn E. Rowe, both of Fayetteville; one sister, Verna Kissinger of Marion, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Frances C. Snively
KEEDYSVILLE - Frances Champ Snively, 92, of 75 N. Main St., died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born July 29, 1904, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Vada Taylor Champ.
Her husband, George Bovey Snively, died in 1973.
She was a former employee of Field's in Chicago and retired from Eyerly's/The Bon Ton in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Hagerstown.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Hill of Milpitas, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kelly Hill and Terry Burns, both of California; five great-grandsons; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Hagerstown. Roger Ridenour will officiate. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.
The family will receive friends at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
D. Kathryn Sipes
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - D. Kathryn Sipes, 75, a resident of Manor Care Health Services Nursing Home, and formerly of RD 1, Harrisonville, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 17, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born June 25, 1921, in Brush Valley, Indiana County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elaine Joyce Welch.
Her husband, Robert Sipes, died in 1985.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sideling Hill Christian Church near Needmore, Pa.
She is survived by one son, Earl Sipes of Harrisonville; one sister, Lois Ehlenfeldt of Cleveland; one brother, William Welch of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown, Pa. The Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Sideling Hill Christian Church Cemetery near Needmore.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Chester Adam Billman, who died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, is survived by a sister, Kimberly Swope of Waynesboro, Pa.
Lois D. Barron
BALTIMORE - Lois Dephene Barron, 76, of 6201 Lockraven Road, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, at Avalon Manor in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 21, 1919, in Halfway, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Arthur and Myda Cary Dellinger Jenkins.
Her husband, Lawrence Brucester Barron, died in 1990.
She was employed as a licensed practical nurse by Johns Hopkins Hospital, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Lockraven United Methodist Church, Baltimore.
She did scheduling for the Home for the Incurables in Baltimore.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen Reid and Betty Vaughn, both of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Jenkins.
There will be no viewing.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Bessie Amelia Arnold, 96, formerly of Ambrose Towers, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 1996, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born March 19, 1900, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Brate Pixley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence John McCabe, and by her second husband, Arthur W. Arnold.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Kowalczyk of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Patricia M. Hartley of Martinsburg; one son, John L. McCabe of Vineland, N.J.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Haines, and one brother, Frank Pixley.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 101 W. Martin St., Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be private.

Madeline J. Malejko
PHOENIX - Madeline J. Malejko, 81, of Phoenix, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1996.
She was born in Dayton, Pa.
Her husband, Frank J. Malejko, preceded her in death.
She was a volunteer for eight years at Deer Valley Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Malejko of Hagerstown, and Daniel Malejko of Phoenix; two brothers, Peter Formica and Nick Formica; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Road, Phoenix.
