Elva C. Harrison
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Elva C. "Kate" Harrison, 84, a resident of Manor Care Health Services, and formerly of 1174 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, died Sunday. Nov. 17, 1996, at Manor Care Health Services.
Born Nov. 9, 1912, in Guilford Springs, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Mary E. Fields Miller.
Her husband, Glenn W. Harrison, died in 1979.
She was a homemaker, and worked part time at the former H.J. Heinz Co.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one sister, Ethel Myers of Roxbury, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg. The Rev. K. Hull Byers will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
William E. Bailey
RANSON, W.Va. - William Edward Bailey, 71, of Ranson, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 1996, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 16, 1925, in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., he was the son of the late Aubrey and Matha Pinckett Bailey.
He retired after 30 years as a construction worker in Washington, D.C.
He was a member of House of Prayer Church of God No. 4 in Charles Town, W.Va.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Agnes Geraldine Jackson Bailey; one daughter, Betty A. Twyman of Ranson; one son, William "Billy" Bailey Jr. of Ranson; two sisters, Mazie Taylor and Genevieve Hosby, both of Charles Town; two brothers, Eddie Bailey of Charles Town, and Johnnie Bailey of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Christian and Martha Harris; and three brothers, Fred Bailey, Jim Bailey and David Bailey.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at House of Prayer Church of God No. 4, East Congress Street, Charles Town, W.Va. Walter Newman, bishop, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Charles C. Gageby
INWOOD, W.Va. - Charles Curtis Gageby, 79, of Inwood, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 1996, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born June 24, 1917, in Ganotown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles T. and Florida Anna Virginia "Dottie" VanHorn Gageby.
He reitred from C.H. Musselman Co. after 32 years of service.
He was a member of Inwood United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Amanda Kitchen Gageby; one daughter, Ruth Ellen Widmyer of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one son, Charles Robert Gageby, at home; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Huffman; two brothers, George W. "Frank" Gageby and John Gageby; and one half-sister, Marjorie Shultz.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Inwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. John E. Wright and Carl Dunn, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va., today from 7 to 9 p.m.
The casket will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Margaret E. Bishop
BEAN STATION, Tenn. - Margaret E. Bishop, 74, of Route 3, Box 2488, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn.
Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Hazel Flora Poole.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Bishop; one daughter, Sharon Whittaker of Hagerstown; two sons, James L. Mongan of Greencastle, Pa., and Charles Cross of Morristown, Tenn.; 10 step children, David Bishop of Rutledge, Tenn., Betty Bishop of West Virginia, Peggy Adkins, Joyce Adkins, Scotty Bishop and Stanley Cross, all of Bean Station, Larry Cross of Hancock, Donald Cross of St. Louis, Mo., Joe Cross and Nancy Walters, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Doris Fox of Hagerstown; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lolita Wishard, Hazel Poole and Bernice Guessford; and one brother, Charles Poole Jr.
The service was held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Mooresburg Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Burial was in Hamblen Memory Gardens in Morristown.
Cheryl J. Deal
Cheryl J. Deal, 50, of Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1946, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Nettie Elizabeth Weaver Bowers of Hagerstown and the late Glenn Linford Bowers.
She was employed by Caring Hands Connection, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Black Rock Bible Church, Hagerstown.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Gwen E. Deal of Hagerstown; two sons, Timothy C. Deal of Smithsburg and Eric J.D. Deal of Hagerstown; three sisters, Virginia B. Deal of Boonsboro, Carolyn E. Shifler of Hagerstown and Joann Rowland of Williamsport; three brothers, Glenn L. Bowers, Charles C. Bowers and Joseph A. Bowers, all of Hagerstown; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Black Rock Bilbe Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Grace P. Breslin
LITITZ, Pa. - Grace Pearrell Breslin, 90, of Lititz, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Lutheran Acres, Lititz.
Born Jan. 6, 1907, in Hedgesville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert K. and Frances F. Brown Pearrell. She lived for many years in Washington, D.C., and McLean, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Breslin.
She was a graduate of Hedgesville High School.
She was a member of the Moravian Congregation of Lititz.
She is survived by one daughter, Ellen Kay Breslin Dell of Camp Hill, Pa.; one sister, M. Ione "Tommie" Pearrell Breslin of Lititz; three granddaughters, Karen Ford of Orangeburg, S.C., Susan Muma of Gaithersburg, Md., and Gretchen Hanrahan of Camp Hill, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Frances Pearrell.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Samaritan, Lititz, Pa. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hedgesville Cemetery. The Rev. Terri Cofiell will officiate.
Family and friends will gather at Hedgesville United Methodist Church following the service on Saturday.

Elsie M. Davis
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Elsie Marie Davis, 92, of Wide River Farms, Harpers Ferry, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at her home.
Born April 30, 1905, in Alexandria, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ida Sutherland Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jacob Davis, in 1956.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Catherine P. King of Belmont, Calif.; three sons, Hilton L. Davis of Fredericksburg, Va., Robert J. Davis of Alexandria and Wade D. Davis of Harpers Ferry; 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elsie Horton; one son, Alfred T. Davis; and two brothers, Robert Tyler and Walter C. Tyler.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. B. Guilford Turner will officiate. Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Daniel C. Grove Sr.
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Daniel C. Grove Sr., 60, of 11191 Loop Road, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born June 8, 1936, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Orville C. and Evelyn M. Brown Grove. He lived in the Scotland Soldier Orphan School, Scotland, Pa., from 1946 until 1950. He also lived in the South Mountain, Pa., area.
He was a 1954 graduate of Quincy High School. He took courses through the military.
He was employed by Hess Manufacturing. He was a power support systems mechanic foreman at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1990 after 34 years. Following retirement, he worked part time at the South Mountain Golf Course.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served two tours of duty during the Korean War.
He was a member and umpire of the United States Softball Association of Pittsburgh; a member of the South Mountain Fish and Game Association; the National AARP and a life member of the South Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. and Ambulance Squad.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria E. Strang Grove, whom he married April 10, 1961; one daughter, Kandi Sue Grove of South Mountain; three sons, Jeffrey L. Grove, Daniel E. Grove Jr. and Timothy A. Grove, all of South Mountain; a twin brother, Robert C. Grove of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Ray Grove.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa. The Rev. Mervil R. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial, with military services conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, Chambersburg, will be in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
