Suzanne L. Garde
Suzanne L. Garde, 34, of 10024 Garis Shop Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 27, 1962, in Washington County, she was the daughter of P. Lowell and Sonja J. Mills Fox Sr. of Hagerstown.
She was employed by Central Farm and Tractor, Valley Plaza, Hagerstown.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Heather R. Starleper at home; one son, Roland Garde III at home; one sister, Kendra S. Baer of Waynesboro, Pa.; two brothers, Philip L. Fox Jr. and James A. Fox, both of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Adaline Mills of Hagerstown; paternal grandfather, Ethel J. Fox of Williamsport; and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Bryan Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Thursday after noon for the convenience of family and friends.

Betty L. Dawson
Betty Louise Dawson, 67, of 115 N. Jonathan St., Hagerstown, died Monday, May 5, 1997, at her home.
Born April 18, 1930, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John Gershan and Margie Viola Sprankle Dawson.
She was employed as a cashier by A&P Supermarket, McCrory's and J.J. Newberry Co.
She attended John Wesley United Methodist Church and the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her former husband, Joseph R. Stotelmyer; three daughters, Vivian C. Bostetter, Cheryl Cousin and Margianna Stotelmyer, all of Hagerstown; one son, Steven Stotelmyer of Hagerstown; two sisters, Hazel Grove and Frances Smith, both of Hagerstown; five brothers, James Dawson, William Dawson, Roy Dawson, Gary Dawson and George Dawson, all of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard W. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be held in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen O.H. Prosper
Helen Olivine Hoover Prosper, 83, of 18030 Hollyhock Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 5, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 14, 1914, in Smithsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late David Alexander and Mary Crewey Hoover.
She was employed by Fairchild Aircraft.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Prosper; five daughters, Linda Kearns of Martinsburg, W.Va., Sheilah Greer of Colonial Heights, Va., Frances Gladhill, Debbie Vinson and Edith Kinnamont, all of Hagerstown; four sisters, Ruth Hoover and Rachel Clapp, both of Saltville, Va., Grace Bailey of Charleston, W.Va., and Ethel Cox of St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ann Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Annabelle V. Miller
Annabelle Virginia Miller, 76, of 13021 Resh Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at her home.
Born Oct. 14, 1920, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Darlington and Mary Rachel Chaney Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Jacob Miller, on Oct. 14, 1995.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by one son, David W. Miller of Hagerstown; and one sister, Viola Burger of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Davis.
Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Ronnie Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Florence C. Duffey
Florence Catherine Duffey, 73, formerly of 724 Chestnut St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born June 30, 1923, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Foster and Mary Hockensmith Bowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Duffey, in 1978.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.
She also was a member of American Legion, Funkstown Post 211 Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Bessie Mae Decker and Margaret L. "Peggy" Dawson of Mont Alto, Pa.; one son, Michael O. Duffey; one sister, Mary Matthews; two brothers, Paul Bowers and Ira Bowers; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

James T. Murphy
James Thomas Murphy, 61, of 852 Snyder Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md.
Born June 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late James Michael and Rose Mary Morrissey Murphy.
He was self-employed. He retired as a manufacturers representative.
He was a member of the Broadfording Church of God.
He also was a member of Grand Lodge AF&AM of Kansas, Sunflower 0086; Ithiel RA Chapter 27, Past High Priest, Hagerstown; Palestine Council 16 R&SM, Hagerstown; St. Bernard Commandery 9, Knights Templar, Hagerstown; and AARP.
He was a volunteer with Hospice of Washington County.
He is survived by his wife, June Resh Murphy; one daughter, Beatrice June Morrell of Hagerstown; three sons, James Wesley Murphy of Harrisburg, Pa., Timothy Michael Murphy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Thomas Patrick Murphy of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Ellen Quinn of Center Moriches, N.Y.; three brothers, Edward Murphy of Shoreham, N.Y., Thomas Murphy of Bethpage, N.Y., and Peter Murphy of Garner, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Alan N. Clingan will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.

Blaine H. Freels
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Blaine H. Freels, 56, of Great Cacapon, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1940, in Anderson County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Hugh Chester Freels.
He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by one daughter, Tanna Marie Bonincontria of Phoenix; two sisters, Anna J. Thompson of Great Cacapon and Lisa Melton of Mohawk, Tenn.; three brothers, Samuel B. Freels Sr. of Great Cacapon, Paul Freels of Baltimore and Chester W. Freels of Hixon, Tenn.; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Jeffrey L. Strachan will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Friday from noon to 9 p.m.

Doris L. McPherson
PARKTON, Md. - Doris L. McPherson, of Parkton, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at her home.
She was the daughter of Harold R. and Ruth C. Lewis of Myersville, Md.
She was a 1964 graduate of Frostburg State University. She received her master's degree in special education from Johns Hopkins University.
She retired as a reading specialist from the Baltimore County School System, Prettyboy Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Douglas R. McPherson; one stepdaughter, Sheri E. Pessagno of Baltimore; two sisters, Anne M. Harne of Myersville and Linda C. Graham of Big Pool; and two brothers, Richard E. Lewis of Frederick, Md., and Donald L. Lewis of Myersville.
A memorial service sill be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Ruck Towson Funeral home, 1050 York Road, Towson, Md. A memorial reception will follow the service.
