Hartzel M. Watson
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Hartzel M. "Sheik" Watson Sr., 73, of 213 S. Fayette St., died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born March 23, 1924, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Parker B. and Nellie R. Stoner Watson.
He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in June, 1983, after 39 years. He was superintendent of Zion Union Cemetery, Mercersburg, for 36 years.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II in the Bismark, New Guinea and Luzon campaigns.
He was a former member and commander of Lewis H. Himes American Legion Post 830, Mercersburg; and a former member of Mercersburg Giants semipro baseball team.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen McCullough Watson, whom he married Dec. 10, 1949; two daughters, Elizabeth R. "Cookie" Brown of Mercersburg and Diana E. Robinson of Harrisburg, Pa.; one son, Hartzel M. "Buster" Watson Jr. of Mercersburg; one sister, Agnes Lanier of Cleveland; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Gary A. Keefer will officiate. Burial, with military graveside services conducted by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, Pa., will be in Zion Union Cemetery.

Cora E. Green
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Cora E. Green, 93, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born April 16, 1904, in Lawrenceville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Mose and Cora Ann Brichett Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Green.
She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church, Summit Point, W.Va., where she served as a deaconess and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Frances Green, with whom she resided; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. John T. Green will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will meet at the family residence Sunday at 2 p.m. before going to the funeral home for the services.
Joshua W. Baugher
KEEDYSVILLE - Joshua William Baugher, 16, of Keedysville, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, in Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 8, 1980, in Leesburg, Va., he was the son of George W. and Deborah Mae Bright Baugher of Keedysville.
He was a student at Loudoun Valley High School, Purcellville, Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Nathan G. Baugher and Jack Matthew Baugher, both of Keedysville, maternal grandmother, Anne Bright of Lovettsville, Va., and aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Loudoun Heights, Va. The Rev. Chris Suerdieck will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Loudoun Heights.

Peggy A. Coiner
Peggy Ann Coiner, 57, of 16944 Shady Brook Terrace, Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at her home.
She was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Rockbridge County, Va.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Coiner; one daughter, Roxanne Gordon; one son, Timothy Gordon of Staunton, Va.; two stepdaughters, Martha Ellen Camden of Dallas and Teri Jacobson of Dayton, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Kenneth M. Silver
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Kenneth Melvin Silver, 71, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 22, 1925, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Howard D. and Ada Mae Payne Silver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Silver on Feb. 14, 1994.
He was employed by Interwoven Hosiery Mill and Potomac Edison, both of Berkeley Springs. He was a farmer.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of VFW Post 896, American Legion Post 14 and DAV Chapter 14, all in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Lou Silver of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Vada Lea Hovermale of Berkeley Springs and Gladys Viola Sterns of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, Cecil Conrad Silver of Cherry Run, W.Va.; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Dortha Bowers and Tennie Viana Silver; and three brothers, Charles Leroy Silver, Norman Avery Silver and Howard Elwood Silver.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis H. Fox will officiate. Burial, with military graveside honors, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
Ralph E. Myers
INWOOD, W.Va. - Ralph Edmond Myers, 85, of Inwood, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 2, 1912, in Middleway, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel Edmond and Lena Evans Anderson Myers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Ziegler Myers, on Nov. 22, 1961.
He was a self-employed farmer in Berkeley County, W.Va.
He attended Summit Point Methodist Church, Summit Point, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathleen Jenkins Myers; one daughter, Clara Myers Tabler of Inwood; one stepdaughter, Joy Whitacre of Charles Town, W.Va.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Middleway Masonic Cemetery, Middleway. John A. Tabler will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Lucille F. Poffenberger
Lucille Frances Poffenberger, 73, of 13619 Paradise Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Howard W. and Janet L. Poffenberger.
Born Nov. 29, 1923, in Downsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Carson and Minnie Virginia Ridenour Artz.
She was employed by Fairchild Aircraft and Mack Trucks Inc. in the accounting department. She retired in 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Beard of Hagerstown; son and daughter-in-law, Howard W. and Janet L. Poffenberger of Hagerstown, who took care of her; six sisters, Margaret Smith of Abington, Pa., Helen Waddington of Jenkinstown, Pa., Fae Beam of Shinglehouse, Pa., Lupa Reidi of Daytona Beach, Fla., Barbara Breichner of Hagerstown and Bonnie Grerier of New Hampshire; three brothers, Irvin Artz of Williamsport, James Artz of Boonsboro and Robert Artz of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and 12 nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Artz Jr.; and two nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth J. Dorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Victor M. Bowers
Victor Marvin Bowers, 68, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at his home.
Born March 18, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Russell J. and Alma Olsen Bowers.
He was a 1947 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a 1951 graduate of Western Maryland College.
He retired from Potomac Edison Co., as the manager of compensation and benefits, on Oct. 1, 1993, after 42 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the personnel committee.
He also was a member of the area Corporate Center Employees Association. He was a 33-year member and past president of the Suburban Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown; a member and former president of Northwood Swim Club; Hagerstown BPO Elks 378; Eagles Club Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.; Hagerstown Country-Western Dance Association; and the Cumberland Valley Country Western Dance Association of Waynesboro. He was a board member and past president of Girls Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Verner Bowers; two daughters, Lisa A. Strickland of Hagerstown and Linda K. Eckrich of Germantown, Md.; two sisters, Dorothy B. Hammond of Hagerstown and Mildred B. Cannon of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren; one stepgrandson; three nieces; two nephews; one grand-niece; and one grand-nephew.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
