Ray W. Lamp Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ray W. Lamp Jr., 66, of Martinsburg, died Friday, May 9, 1997, in Hardy County, W.Va.
Born March 29, 1931, in Ganotown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ray W. and Mary C. Stilwell Lamp Sr.
He was a 1949 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He retired as fire chief of the Martinsburg Fire Department.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving with the Air Police.
He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 805 and a lifetime member of the Shepherdstown and Bedington Volunteer Fire Departments.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose; and served as past director of the Eastern Panhandle Training Center.
An avid hunter, he was a member of the Big Lick Hunt Club and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Sharron Frame Lamp; one daughter, Catherine Lamp; one sister, Jean FitzGerald of Kensington, Md.; two brothers, Paul G. Lamp of Inwood, W.Va., and Calvin R. Lamp of Martinsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ray W. Lamp III.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Henrietta L.B. Walsh
EMMITSBURG, Md. - Henrietta Louise Brassard Walsh, 76, of St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg, and formerly of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at the center.
Born Oct. 27, 1920, in West Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Bridget Courtney Brassard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joseph Walsh.
She was a 1938 graduate of Holy Name High School, Chicopee, Mass.
She was employed as a secretary by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, International Affairs Division, Washington, D.C.
She was a former member of the Blessed Sacrament of Alexandria, Va. and St. Bernadette Parish. She attended St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters.
She also was a member of the AARP.
She is survived by four daughters, Maryellen Walsh of West Springfield, Nancy Walsh of Gaithersburg, Md., Katie Walsh of Hagerstown and Peggy Turner of Timberville, Va.; two sons, Donald Joseph Walsh Jr. of Alexandria and Martin Walsh of Baltimore; one sister, Annette Mayou of Ludlow, Mass.; one brother, Oliver Brassard of Chicopee; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Brassard and Martha Brassard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Andrew Mohl will be celebrant. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Va.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Ralph Stoner
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ralph Stoner, 91, of 239 E. King St., died Friday, May 9, 1997, at Franklin County Nursing Home in Chambersburg.
Born Dec. 21, 1905, in Marion, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis E. and Mary E. Zeigler Stoner.
He was a salesman with the former Capitol Bakers in Chambersburg for 32 years, retiring in 1967. After his retirement, he was appointed deputy warden for Franklin County Prison.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg.
He also was a member of Goodwill Fire Co., a social member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 V.F.W., and a former member of B.P.O. Elks No. 600, all in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret H. Hollinger Stoner, whom he married April 14, 1932; one son, Richard L. Stoner of Chambersburg; one sister, Mary L. Geiman of Chambersburg; two grandsons; and four great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Lauren P. Downin
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Lauren P. Downin, 98, of Midlothian, and formerly of 1740 Edgewood Hills, Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at B.J.'s Home in Richmond, Va.
Born March 17, 1899, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Otha B. and Cora Lewis Downin.
His wife, Nellie Cavanaugh Downin, died in 1989.
He was a graduate of the University of Maryland.
He was a retired asphalt sales representative in Alexandria, Va.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Carole A. McGinnis of MIdlothian; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate.

Robert C. Radcliffe
Robert C. Radcliffe, 71, of 7 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 8, 1997, at his home.
Born April 28, 1926, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert A. and D. Mae Zembower Radcliffe.
A resident of Baltimore for many years, he worked for several cemeteries.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by two sisters, Ruth M. Fatkin of Frostburg, Md., and Helen P. Willison of Manheim, Pa.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md.
Dale L. Copeland
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Dale Lee Copeland, 46, of 5705 Timmons Drive, died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 2, 1950, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George R. Copeland and Emily M. Bongiorno Copeland. He was the stepson of Wannita Copeland Mowery of Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a high school graduate.
He was employed as a truck driver.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He formerly attended Wesleyan Chapel Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Greencastle.
He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Saville Copeland; one daughter, Denise Copeland of Hancock; two sons, Matthew Copeland of Hagerstown, and Dustin Copeland, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa; one stepdaughter, Misti Nicarry of Greencastle; one stepson, Shawn Talhelm of Chambersburg; one half-sister, Ester Hileman of Martinsburg; one brother, Kenneth Copeland of Berkeley Springs; one half-brother, David Arndt of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery in Berkeley Springs, with graveside military services conducted by Tri-State Honor Guard.

Ilene M. Miller
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Ilene Marie Miller, 68, of 6387 Wagner Drive, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at Piney Mountain in Fayetteville, Pa.
Born Sept. 16, 1928, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of Edith E. Shope Roles of Mercersburg, Pa., and the late Raymond E. Roles.
Her husband, George W.S. Miller, died in 1973.
She was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School, and attended Gallinger Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., for two years.
She was a clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Chambersburg for 12 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of First Church of God in Altoona.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by four daughters, Ilene M. McElwain, Edith I. McNew and Christine A. Wenger, all of Fayetteville, and Laurie L. Millard of Farmville, Va.; three sons, George W.S. Miller Jr. of Chambersburg, John R. Miller of Waynesboro, Pa., and Robert B. Miller of Fayetteville; two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Holidaysburg, Pa., and Donna Miller of Greencastle, Pa.; four brothers, Ken Roles of Youngstown, Ohio, Dean Roles of Mercersburg, Ralph Roles of Silver Spring, Md., and Thomas Roles of Upton, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Michael J. Wentz will officiate. Burial will be in Alta Reste Park in Altoona.
There will be no viewing. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Ada G.B. Hicks
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Ada G. Bonebrake Hicks, 93, formerly of North Church Street, Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at her daughter's home in Bloomsburg, where she resided.
Born June 13, 1903, in Washington Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob M. and Lillie A. Mickley Bonebrake.
Her husband, Carey U. Hicks, died in 1981. They were married July 29, 1942.
She was a 1934 graduate of Waynesboro High School, and attended Juniata College in Huntington, Pa.
Early in life, she was employed as an elementary teacher in Washington Township schools for seven years, prior to her marriage.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, Pa., where she taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school superintendent of the primary department, and served on the church council.
She also was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and National AARP.
She enjoyed doing the genealogy of the Mickley and Bonebrake families.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan R. Hicks of Bloomsburg; and one brother, Roy C. Bonebrake of New York, N.Y.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service on Tuesday.
