Edna M. Charles
Edna Manila Charles, 99, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 16, 1898, in Porterstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nannie Elizabeth Smith Swain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Clay Charles, in 1968.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Boonsboro.
She is survived by three sons, Jack M. Charles and Jerry D. Charles, both of Hagerstown, and Ronald L. Charles of Clear Spring; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Roger S. Charles; two sisters, Flossie Weaver and Gwendolyn Marshall; and one brother, Garrott M. Swain.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Ray Schriver will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

William F. Dean
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William Franklin "Bill" Dean, 71, of 2009 Davis Drive, Route 2, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born June 12, 1925, in Dekalb County, Ill., he was the son of the late Arthur L. and Gladys Mae Ambler Dean.
He was employed as a machinist by Mack Trucks.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Lewis Dean; two daughters, Diana Mellott of Chambersburg, Pa., and Joy Dean of Hagerstown; two sons, David Dean and Larry Dean, both of Hagerstown; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Crystal Dean.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. A. Paul will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
Jeffry A. Windholz
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jeffry A. Windholz, 51, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born, Nov. 20, 1945, in St. Paul, Minn., he was the son of Bernice Knick Windholz of Martinsburg and the late Alain H. Windholz.
He was a 1963 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a 1967 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in journalism.
He was employed in public relations by the The Children's Museum in Indianapolis, Ind. He also was employed as a speech writer by the American Legion National Office. He was recently employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Martinsburg.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a captain, commanding the Armed Forces Television Network in Korea.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Windholz and Alain Windholz, both of Gainesville, Fla.; and one sister, Kathy L. Murphy, of Hedgesville, W.Va.
A memorial service will held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr., will officiate. Burial will be private.

Geneva E. Crowl
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Geneva Elizabeth Crowl, 72, of 508 9th Ave., Brunswick, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at College View Center in Frederick, Md.
Born March 2, 1925, in Stanley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Vinda Burns Lucas.
Her husband, Robert J. Crowl, died in 1981.
She retired from Brunswick High School Cafeteria, where she was a cook.
She was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.
She is survived by two sons, Alan R. Crowl and Craig J. Crowl, both of Brunswick; four sisters, Ollie Shugars of Lovettsville, Va., Lurene Saunders of Leesburg, Va., Beaulah Derflinger of Brunswick, and Anna Wigington of Knoxville; one brother, Everett Lucas of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Wenner and Jean Baker; and one brother, Elmer Lucas.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert A. McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Lovettsville.
The family will receive friends at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

FAIRPLAY - Ronnie Lee Hoover, 54, of 8729 Sharpsburg Pike, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at his home.
Born Aug 1, 1942, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Lester Russell and Marion Josephine Bailey Hoover.
He retired from Mack Trucks.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and a junior warden of the church.
He also was a member of American Legion, Clear Spring Post 222.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Divelbiss Hoover; two daughters, Celia H. Connor of Baltimore and Jo Beth Hoover of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Frances Kell of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Herbert Hoover of Gap Mills, W.Va.; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Hoover and Ted C. Hoover.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Ann O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial, with graveside services by American Legion Clear Spring Post 222, will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Lillian M. Myers
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lillian M. Myers, 82, of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 133 N. Main St., Mercersburg, Pa., died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at the home.
Born April 2, 1915, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Emma S. Shaffer Starliper.
She retired from the former Mercersburg Dress Co. in Mercersburg. After retiring, she worked as a cook at the former Lowengart and Co. Tannery and Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 VFW, both in Mercersburg.
She was a member of Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nephews, John "Danny" Starliper of Mercersburg, and William "Randy" Starliper of Greencastle, Pa.; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
Services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park St., Mercersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing.

Eugene A. Ahalt
Eugene A. Ahalt, 83, of West Baltimore Street, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 12, at his home.
Born July 15, 1913, he was the son of the late Roscoe C. and Clara K. Pearl Ahalt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie L. Rudy Ahalt, in 1997.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Hagerstown, and was employed by Brandt Cabinet Work, Kreider-Reisner and Fairchild Aircraft.
He was a past member of Woodmen of the World; Eagles Club, Hagerstown; and Alsatia Club, Hagerstown.
He is survived by two sisters, Marie A. Dahlhamer of Hagerstown and Carmel Wierts of Reisterstown; and nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, at the convenience of the family. Burial also will be in the cemetery.

David Snyder
David Snyder, 83, of 700 Georgia Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 16, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 3, 1913, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., he was the son of the late George R. and Daisy Irene Shoemaker Snyder.
He was employed by Leroy Myers Mason Contractor for 20 years, retiring in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Luella Mary Snyder; two daughters, Connie Snyder of Salt Lake City and Virginia Snyder of Hagerstown; one son, Charles Snyder of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary Hensel and Katherine Harbaugh, both of Hagerstown; four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Bishop Philip D. Lord will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
