Lillian V. Whittington
RANSON, W.Va. - Lillian Viola Whittington, 73, of Ranson, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Murrel and Reatha Shields Brown.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Melvin S. Whittington; two sons, Gary W. Whittington of Ranson and David E. Whittington of Martinsburg; one sister, Yvonne Brown of Martinsburg; three brothers, Charles Brown, Murrel Brown Jr. and Paul Brown, all of Martinsburg; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Edward Whittington, in 1965.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, with the Rev. James Chambly and the Rev. John Bower officiating.
Friends may call today at the residence, 209 E. 2nd St., Ranson.

James L. Clements
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - James Leonard Clements, 85, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born June 11, 1911, in Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ellen Davis Clements.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Amanda Balcom Clements, on March 6, 1990.
He attended grade school in Ridgetown. After moving to Detroit in 1924 with his family, he attended high school and worked in the family's wholesale grocery business. He also sold religious literature and booklets starting in 1943. He moved to Takoma Park, Md., in 1962 and started working with the Review and Herald Publishing Co. He retired as a circulation manager and moved to Berkeley Springs in 1979.
He was a member of the Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was ordained as an elder of the church in 1954.
He is survived by one sister, Frances LaCroix of Paynesville, Minn.; and two caregivers, Donald and Carolyn Eckenroth of Billingsley, Ala.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters; and one son, Mark Douglas Clements on July 23, 1989.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Frank D. Bondurant officiating. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today for the convenience of friends.

Glenn E. Marks Sr.
Glenn Eugene Marks Sr., 74, of Avalon Manor Nursing Home and formerly of 908 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 16, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Paul Irvin and Nannie Victoria Smith Marks.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, N. La Rue Marks, in 1993.
He was a retired employee of Statton Furniture Co. and owned and operated Mark's Tavern from 1953 to 1963.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a life member of W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW.
He is survived by one daughter, Vicki L. Miller of Hagerstown; one son, Glenn E. Marks Jr. of Hagerstown; two brothers, William A. Marks of Hagerstown and Raymond R. Marks of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert R. Marks.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial, with military graveside services by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mona J. Sibert
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mona Jean Sibert, 72, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at her home.
Born Oct. 4, 1996, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leslie Monroe and Alice Carr Sibert.
She was a 1942 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.
She was a pianist for the Senior Citizens and various other groups.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick William Sibert.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Rosedale Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Hollida officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
George D. Cool
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - George David Cool, 65, of 186 Kennedy St., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at his home.
Born Sept. 15, 1931, in Fairfield, Pa., he was the son of the late John William and Mary Elizabeth Riley Cool.
He worked as a sheet metal worker at the former Robert F. Zeigler Inc. Heating and Air Conditioning, Hagerstown, from 1965 until the firm closed in 1995.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a life member of and helped form AMVETS Post 172, Fairfield, where he was a member of the Sad Sacks of the Post. After moving to Chambersburg, he helped form the Hume-McNiel-Byers Post 224 AMVETS. He was a social member of the Marine Corps League, Chambersburg; a social veteran of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; and a life member of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, St. Thomas, Pa., where he also was a member of the 40 et 8.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja Kay Shindledecker Cool, whom he married on April 16, 1960; two daughters, Mitzi A. Hoover of Chambersburg and Sherry D. Cool, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Lakenheath, England; three sons, Paul E. Cool of Colorado Springs, Colo., William W. Cool and David K. Cool, both of Chambersburg; three sisters, Mary Bentz of Waynesboro, Pa., and Anna E. Lewis and Jane Hurley, both of Thurmont, Md.; three brothers, Samuel Cool of Taneytown, Md., James W. Cool of Rouzerville, Pa., and Glenn I. Cool of Thurmont; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Monsignor Thomas R. Brenner will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing.
Margaret L. Jones
Margaret Lucille Jones, 42, of 463 Park Place, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1954, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Wallace Brooks and Cleo Smith, both of Hagerstown.
She was a 1972 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She attended Hagerstown Junior College.
She was employed as an outreach worker by Washington County Health Department.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Missionary Board.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Don Jones; one son, Fernando E. Broadus of Hagerstown; one stepdaughter, Terri Williams of Hagerstown; four sisters, Zina Moody, Aloha Broadus, Sonya Broadus and Tonya Smith, all of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 61 W. Bethel St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Haru Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Rhoda M. Warrenfeltz
Rhoda Mae Warrenfeltz, 81, of 11 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 17, 1915, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl Bingaman.
She attended Broadfording Bible Brethren Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Gettel of Tuscon, Ariz.; and several cousins.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Lois J. T. Johns
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lois Jean Tipton Johns, 51, of 785 Antrim Lane, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at her home.
Born Sept. 17, 1945, in Somerset County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James Russell and Cordilla E. Shockey Tipton.
She graduated from Somerset Area Senior High School in 1963. She was a 1974 graduate of Allegheny Community College, Cumberland, Md., where she received her bachelor of arts degree in nursing.
She was employed as a registered nurse by the Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown, since 1981.
She was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Greencastle.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Johns, whom she married May 12, 1982; three sons, John Philip Stoner Jr. of Hagerstown, Theodore Russell "Rusty" Stoner of Clear Spring and Mark Alan Stoner of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Edith M. Morgan of Somerset, Pa., Emma L. Stanfield of Atwater, Ohio, and Barbara A. Tipton of LeCanto, Fla.; one half sister, Grace Thiel of Somerset; two brothers, Jacob H. Tipton of Sagamore Hills, Ohio and Harold E. Tipton of Ravenna, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma I. Ritenour and one brother, Charles Russell Tipton.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Steven S. McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
