Hilda L. Davis
Hilda Louise Davis, 72, of 243 N. Locust St., Hagerstown, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 3, 1925, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Floria Baker Morrison.
Her husband, Allen V. Davis, died in 1982.
She retired from Londontown Manufacturing in Boonsboro, after 20 years of service.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by three sons, Dale L. Davis Sr., Terry E. Davis Sr. and Ronald W. Davis, all of Hagerstown; two sisters, Helen Spong of Keedysville, and Betty Mills of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Stoneburger.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Timothy E. Button
Timothy E. "Tim" Button, 32, of 20532 Bluebird Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at his home.
Born July 28, 1964, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Edward N. Button and D. Kay Hoover Button, both of Hagerstown.
He was a 1984 graduate of Smithsburg High School, and received his associate's degree from Hagerstown Junior College.
He was employed as a computer programmer with Electronic Banking Systems.
He enjoyed working with computers.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Kimberly Button of Manassas, Va., Susan Pugh and Rebecca Button, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Preston Button of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Hoover of Greencastle, Pa.; two aunts; one uncle; and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. Pastor David Armstrong and Ed Button will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Lewis W. Trumpower
Lewis William Trumpower, 73, of 1114 Security Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at his home.
Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Isaac and Bessie Hose Trumpower.
His wife, Margaret D. Trumpower, died in 1988.
He was employed with Dixie Millworks, and previously with Cushwa Coal Yards and Victor Products.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a former member of American Legion, Funkstown Post 211, and a member of Hagerstown Suns Fan Club.
He was a founding member of Community Rescue Service.
He is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Metzer of Keedysville, Dee Dee Flick of Ridgeley, W.Va., Donna Glaser of Pittsburgh, and Tammy Monroe of Cumberland; two sons, Donald Trumpower of Maugansville and David Trumpower of Cavetown; two sisters, Sarah Brunner of Myersville, Md., and Beulah Younkers of Marlowe, W.Va.; one brother, Richard Trumpower of Hagerstown; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Negley and Louise Kirby; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Randall Reid, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary F. Knicely
Mary Frances Knicely, 89, formerly of 10 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 17, 1997, at Coffman Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 25, 1907, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Julia Neibert Hogan.
She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by five sisters, Julia Donovan of Flushing, N.Y., Naomi Horn, Ruth Troupe and Betty Meeker, all of Hagerstown, and Doris McCallum of Bethesda, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Haines and Mildred Weller; and two brothers, John Hogan and Bob Hogan.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond Lytle will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Rodger L. Bachtell, Sr.
Rodger Lee Bachtell, Sr., 44, of Woodland Way, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 17, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 5, 1952, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Juanita C. Spessard Linton of Hagerstown and the late Clarence L. "Bud" Bachtell.
He was employed by Turner Transportation, Hagerstown, for 29 years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Rodger Lee Bachtell, Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Debora J. Earnest of Williamsport and Robin M. Crumlich both of Hagerstown; and a companion, Vanessa Ashby.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Smithsburg Cemetery.
The Rev. William Brice will officiate.

TAMPA, Fla. - A Masonic service for Glen D. Gordon, Jr., 63, of Tampa, will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Blount, Curry and Roel A.P. Boza Town and Country Chapel, 6902 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. Lodge 257 F.&A.M. will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gordon; two daughters, Barbara Gordon and Casey Seefus; one son, Jeffrey Gordon; one stepdaughter, Deidra Nealon; one stepson, Joseph Nealon; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Lewis W. Smith, Sr.
KEEDYSVILLE - Lewis William Smith Sr., 78, of 4718 Toyer Road, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 3, 1919, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late David W. and Edna Boward Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Smith, on July 24, 1980.
He retired as an auto mechanic from Montgomery Ward.
He had also been employed by Dale Moore Used Cars, Hagerstown and Fairchild Industries.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II.
He was wounded on Guadalcanal.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of American Legion, Boonsboro Post 10.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Zimmerman of Boonsboro; two sons, Lewis Smith, Jr. of Boonsboro and Gary W. Smith, Sr. of Brunswick, Md.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Ellen Smith.
Services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside services by Bravo Company 4th LAR Battalion, Fort Detrick, Md., will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
