Charles E. Round

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles E. Round, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg.

Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Arlington, Va., he was the son of the late George C. and Inez Oliver Round.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.

He is survived by one brother, Wendell Round of Falls Church, Va.

He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Affairs Post Chapel. Burial will be in Culpeper National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home.

Edgar L. Moats

Edgar Lee Moats, 69, of 743 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Fairplay, he was the son of the late Wyatt Franklin and Launa Missouri Boyer Moats Sr.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Mijanovich Moats on Nov. 22, 1993.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, L'Aiglon, and Dorbee Manufacturing. He retired from Homewood Retirement Center.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of the American Legion, Funkstown Post 211; the Amvets 10; Moose Lodge 1191 of Waynesboro, Pa.; FOE 1758 of Waynesboro; VFW 695 of Waynesboro; Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro; Owls Club of Waynesboro; VFW 6319 of Greencastle, Pa.; and the Redmen of Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Rice Moats; one daughter, Launa Bender of Forest Hill, Md.; one son, Randy L. Moats; three stepdaughters, Debra Boward of Williamsport, Donna Lynn Minnick and Denise Minnich, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Allen R. Patterson

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Allen R. "Al" Patterson, 57, of 101 S. Potomac St., died Monday, May 19, 1997, at his home.

Born Nov. 18, 1939, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Edward and Armatha Belle Whitmore Patterson.

During the early 1960s and 1970s he was employed as an automatic pin-setter operator by Zook's Recreation Center, Waynesboro. Also during the 1960s, he worked at the Freeman Shoe Co., Waynesboro, as a machine operator. He later worked for 16 years at Keystone Homes Inc., Rouzerville, Pa.

He is survived by three sisters, Kathleen M. O'Dell of Norfolk, Va., Ellen V. Patterson and Pamela J. Patterson, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Robert F. Patterson of Windsor, Pa.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald E. Patterson, in 1981.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery, Rouzerville.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to the Allen Patterson Memorial Fund, c/o First National Bank of Waynesboro, Center Square, Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematory, Waynesboro.

J. Richard Keckler

J. Richard "Dick" Keckler, 79, of 18333 College Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.

Born near Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John A. and E. Grace Crider Keckler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Niad A. Tarsus Keckler, in 1995.

He was a retired guard from the Penal Farm. He had been an officer with the Hagerstown Police Department and a driver for Blue Ridge Bus Lines in Hagerstown.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 217 AF&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 95, Hagerstown; Funkstown American Legion Post 211; and FOE Aerie 694.

He is survived by one daughter, Jo Ellen Knight of Hagerstown; one son, Thomas D. Keckler of Williamsport; one stepdaughter, Dian E. Dingle of Dillsburg, Pa.; one stepson, Ron E. Linder of Temple, Texas; one sister, Jean E. "Pat" Trott of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. James C. Brinkley Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mae E. Evans

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mae Emily Evans, 85, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at her home.

Born May 4, 1912, in Confluence, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Knight Reynolds.

She was a charter member of Church of Christ in Martinsburg.

She bowled.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Albert U. Evans; one daughter, Gail Evans of Helena, Mont., one son, Arnold Evans of Beaumont, Texas; one brother, Charles Reynolds of North Carolina; two granddaughters; four grandsons; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Morris, Elsie Cornell, Mary Bingaman and Olive Voorhees; and one brother, George Reynolds.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Warren Kenney will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Lula I. Arnett

GREENVILLE, Ohio - Lula I. Arnett, 99, of Brethrens Home Medical Center, Greenville, and formerly of Laura, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at the home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Arnett, in January 1983.

She was a member of Potsdam Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two sons, Don Arnett of Laura and Waldo Arnett of Hagerstown; one half brother, Paul Shuff of Sun City, Ariz.; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Shuff and Robert Shuff; and a half brother, Mark Shuff.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, Ohio. Pastor Robert Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Mote Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Potsdam Church of the Brethren.

Mary C.E. Kline

Mary C. Evans Kline, 95, of Bunker Hill, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia at Charles Town, W.Va.

Born Oct. 17, 1901, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Susan Powell.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Roy "Red" Evans; and by her second husband, James W. "Bill" Kline.

She was employed with Martinsburg Laundry and Perfection Garment Factory.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Wolford of Martinsburg; one son, C. William Evans Sr. of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one grandson, C. William Evans Jr. of Martinsburg; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Weller and Ruth Kline; and one grandson.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Kenneth Click will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Mark E. Tracey

SMITHSBURG - Mark E. Tracey, 83, of Wolfsville Road, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

Born Oct. 20, 1913, near Edgemont, he was the son of the late Columbus and Martha V. Cline Tracey.

He was employed as a farmer and orchard worker.

He was a member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Smithsburg.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David Tracey; half-sisters and half-brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Paul Heefner will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Foxville, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
