Donald W. Burger
Donald William Burger, 71, of 309 Woodpoint Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 26, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary R. Mills Burger.
He was employed by Western Maryland Railway, retiring after 38 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He also was a member of Williamsport American Legion Post 202, Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans, VFW Post 1936, and AARP.
He also volunteered with American Red Cross and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
He is survived by his wife, Cora G. Burger of Hagerstown; one daughter, Linda Marie Petro of Mount Airy, Md.; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. George A. Limmer as celebrant.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown on Tuesday.
Visitation will be held at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Angelina M.S. Becker
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Angelina Margaret "Angie" Scalone Becker, 68, of Pembroke Grove, Charles Town, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born May 14, 1929, in Seat Pleasant, Md., she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Marie Filiponi DiGennaro.
She was a retired bank teller with NationsBank in Maryland.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, where she was a Eucharistic minister.
She was a member of Shannondale Club Ltd., Shannondale Women's Club and Shannondale Garden Club, all in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband of six years, Charles E. "Ernie" Becker; one daughter, Margaret Anne Berry of Takoma Park, Md.; one son, Anthony Joseph Scalone of Edgewater, Md.; three stepdaughters, Carol Lynn Becker of Baltimore, Catherine Jeanne Kirby of Glen Rock, Pa., and Sandra Ann Hollins of Freeland, Md.; one stepson, Dr. Stephen Ernest Becker of Towanda, Pa.; two brothers, Ernest DiGennaro of Charles Town, Gabriel L. DiGennaro of Clinton, Md.; and 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Catherine Kitterman; one sister, Grace DiGennaro; and two brothers, Dominic DiGennaro and Anthony DiGennaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, South George Street, Charles Town, with the Rev. Bert Valdes as celebrant.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 301 Happy Retreat, Pembroke Grove, Charles Town, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.; and at Cedar Hill Cemetery Chapel on Monday from 2 to 2:30 p.m., prior to the commital service.

Edith B. Cameron
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edith Belle Cameron, 86, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born March 14, 1911, in Everson, Wash., she was the daughter of the late Alex and Mary Edith Campbell McGregor.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver J. Cameron; two sons, James M. Cameron of Silver Spring, Md., and Thomas A. Cameron of Natick, Mass.; one grandson; two stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth McGregor, Gordon McGregor and Wallace McGregor.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs.
Chester M. Rock
LINTHICUM, Md. - Chester M. "Chet" Rock, 93, of 590 Forest View Drive, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Genesis Eldercare in Severna Park, Md.
Born March 6, 1904, in Quincy Township, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Katherine Utz Rock.
Early in life, he was employed as a pipefitter at Frick Co. in Waynesboro.
He later worked as a fireman for the B&O Railroad.
In 1977, he retired from Steamfitters Local 438 in Baltimore, as a steamfitter.
He was a member of Lutheran Resurrection Church in Baltimore.
He also was a member of Eagles Club Inc. in Waynesboro and Boosters Club of Baltimore.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah M. Fahrney Rock, whom he married Aug. 10, 1929, and five grandchildren, Kathryn M. Rock of Raleigh, N.C., Victoria L. Stone of Annapolis, Gwendolyn A. Rock of Ownings Mills, Md., Aaron von Rock of New York City and Jason von Rock of Pensacola, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Marion L. Rock and Larry B. Rock; three sisters, Cora Kauffman, Ruth Smith, and Irene Sharrah; and two brothers, Charles Rock and Harry Rock.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
Pastor Wilbur F. Besecker will officiate.
Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery in Rouzerville, Pa.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at George J. Gonce Funeral Home, 4001 Ritchey Highway, Baltimore, and one hour prior to the services Tuesday afternoon at Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.

Mary E.B. Benshoff
MONT ALTO, Pa. - Mary E. Bonebrake Benshoff, 73, of 305 Greenwood Ave., died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at her home.
Born Sept. 1, 1923, in Quincy Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Preston H. and Carrie Ethel Small Bonebrake.
She was a 1942 graduate of Quincy High School.
Early in life, she was employed as a switchboard operator at Waynesboro Knitting Mill for nine years.
She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd W. Benshoff, whom she married Jan. 23, 1943; two sisters, Rhoda F. Forney of Greencastle, and Lois Jean Gonder of Chambersburg, Pa.; two stepsisters, Esther Fleagle of Waynesboro, and Naomi Nagy of Lancaster, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Anna Gift Myers Bonebrake; and one brother, Theodore Bonebrake.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
The Rev. Wilber L. Sites will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.

SMITHSBURG - Eleanor Janet Poet, 58, of Comanche Drive, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Jan. 20, 1939, in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Pearly and Eva Sweeney Toothaker.
She was employed by Hagerstown Trust, Books 'n Things and High's Dairy.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Poet; one daughter, Karen Snyder of Smithsburg; three sons, Ronald W. Poet of Clear Spring, Mark D. Poet of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Michael W. Poet of Hagerstown; one sister, Dorothy Hause of Branson, Mo.; two brothers, Ralph Toothaker of Lowell and Ernie Toothaker of Helfer Springs, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and one niece.

Catharine M. Hawbaker
MAUGANSVILLE - Catharine Myers Hawbaker, 89, a resident of Mennonite Old People's Home, and formerly of 12477 Mercersburg Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at the home.
Born Dec. 19, 1907, in Letterkenny Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ernest H. and Mary Elizabeth Meyers Myers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Hawbaker, in 1996.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Old Order River Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Mellinger of Shippensburg, Pa., and Louise Wenger of Greencastle; four sons, Rodger J. Hawbaker of Waynesboro, Pa., E. Harmon Hawbaker of Chambersburg, Pa., Dwight M. Hawbaker and Wayne L. Hawbaker, both of Greencastle; three sisters, Mary Bricker and Verda Bricker, both of Chambersburg, and Elva Burkholder of Pleasant Hill, Pa.; one brother, Christian Myers of South Mountain, Pa.; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Horst; one sister; one brother; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Upton Church of the Brethren, near Upton, Pa.
Minister Howard Meyers, Minister Carl Meyers and Minister Kenneth Meyers will officiate.
Burial will be in Meyers Cemetery near Welsh Run, Pa.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, today from 6 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.

Laura H. Forsythe
Laura H. Forsythe, 90, of 130 Broadway, Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 22, 1907, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Maurice N. and Laura L. Hammond Arnsparger.
Her husband, Henry E. Forsythe, died in 1972.
She retired from Washington County Hospital as a nursing assistant with 28 years of service.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by three sons, Lauren N. Forsythe and Charles H. Forsythe, both of Hagerstown, and Henry E. Forsythe of Frederick, Md.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held Saturday at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
