Elmer L. Fry
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Elmer Lee Fry, 59, of Route 6, Butler's Chapel Road, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at his home.
Born April 16, 1938, in Strasburg, Va., he was the son of the late James Milton and Lillian Bowser Fry.
He was a salesman at Sears in Martinsburg.
He was a member of the Army National Guard of Virginia.
He also was a member of Independent Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Sager Fry; two daughters, Lisa M. Southard and Kimberly D. Starner, both of Martinsburg; one son, David L. Fry of Hedgesville, W.Va.; six sisters, Jean Snow, Jeannette Pangle, Thelma Shiflett, Ellen Barrick, Martha Stonis and Dorothy Henry; five brothers, James Fry, Marshall Fry, Clarence Fry, Jerry Fry and Ray Fry; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia A. Fry; and one brother, Bobby Fry.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Independent Bible Church.
The Rev. Dan Dugan, the Rev. Mark Johnson and the Rev. Van Marsceau will officiate.
Burial will be private.

J. Richard Keckler
J. Richard "Dick" Keckler, 79, of 18333 College Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born near Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John A. and E. Grace Crider Keckler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Niad A. Tarsus Keckler, in 1995.
He was a retired guard from the Penal Farm.
He had been an officer with the Hagerstown Police Department and a driver for Blue Ridge Bus Lines in Hagerstown.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 217 AF&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 95, Hagerstown; Funkstown American Legion Post 211; and FOE Aerie 694.
He is survived by one daughter, Jo Ellen Knight of Hagerstown; one son, Thomas D. Keckler of Williamsport; one stepdaughter, Dian E. Dingle of Dillsburg, Pa.; one stepson, Ron E. Linder of Temple, Texas; one sister, Jean E. "Pat" Trott of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. James C. Brinkley, Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
M. Jacquelin S. Watts
M. Jacquelin "Jackie" Stine Watts, 67, of 11530 Selema Drive No. 5, Hagerstown, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Nov. 19, 1929, in Maryland, she was the daughter of Nellie Irene Gutshall Stine of Hagerstown, and the late John Gilbert Stine.
She served as a corporate treasurer with the family business, Serv-U-Vending in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Deborah Ann Watts of Annandale, Va., Diane Jacquelyn Ballentine and Cheryl Watts Kendig, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Joan Jordan of Rockville, Md.; two brothers, Charles Stine of Rockville and Douglas Stine of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and her former husband, George D. Watts of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Stine.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Glen P. Lapp
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Glen Paul Lapp, 44, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 8, 1952, in Baltimore, he was the son of Dr. Herbert W. and Larry Traenkle Lapp of Berkeley Springs.
He was to graduate this week from Shepherd College with a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
He previously graduated from Shepherd College in 1974 with a baccalaureate degree in business administration.
He was formerly employed as an accountant with Eddie's Tire Service in Berkeley Springs.
He also was a paramedic with Morgan County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Trevor A. Lapp of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Warren S. Lapp of Berkeley Springs, and Brian J. Lapp of Lexington Park, Md.; and one nephew.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.
The Rev. Stephen J. Cuff will officiate assisted by Adam Kradel, seminarian.
Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral home will be open from noon to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Edward R. Bedget, Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edward R. Bedget, Sr., 75, of Martinsburg, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1922, in Loom, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel I. and Hazel Whitacre Bedget.
He retired after 26 years with the 167th West Virginia Air National Guard.
His military career spanned 31 years, including service in the U.S. Navy.
He was assigned to the USS West Virginia when the battleship was destroyed in the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941.
He later served aboard the USS Champlain and the USS Meredith.
He joined the Air National Guard in 1955 as a charter member of the Tactical Airlift Group.
In the 167th, he served as an Air Policeman with the Weapons Security Flight.
His decorations included the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, West Virginia Meritorious Service Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Award and the West Virginia Distinguished Unit Award.
When he retired, he received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and the West Virginia Meritorious Service Medal.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Loom.
He was member of VFW 3522, Charles Town, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis Bedget; one daughter, Cathy P. Bedget Dellaven of Winchester, Va.; one son, Edward R. Bedget, Jr., of Berryville, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Reginald G. Bedget.
Services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg.
The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
There will be no visitation.

Rev. Bretherd Mellott
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - The Rev. Bretherd Mellott, 91, a resident of the Extended Care Facility of Fulton County Medical Center, and formerly of HCR 80, Box 64, Needmore, Pa., died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center.
Born Aug. 20, 1905, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Isiah and Gertrude Gordon Mellott.
His first wife, Lola Gail Reams Mellott, died in 1976.
He was a retired minister, farmer and carpenter.
He was a former minister at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren and Corner Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren in Needmore.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Keefer Mellott; four daughters, Lucille Knepper of Waterfall, Pa., Jeniene Carter of Independence, Mo., Linda Clark of Greencastle, Pa., and Elizabeth McCray of Warfordsburg, Pa.; one son, Max Mellott of Leesburg, Va.; one sister, Gwendolyn Regi of Menno Haven Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Dwight Mellott of Hanover, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Eloise Mellott; one son, Hillis Mellott; and two sisters, Freda Carnell and Marie Winters.
Services will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren.
The Rev. Roger Truax and the Rev. Christian Elliott will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Brethren Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Angelina Margaret "Angie" Scalone Becker, 68, of Pembroke Grove, Charles Town, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, South George Street, Charles Town, with the Rev. Bert Valdes as celebrant.
Burial will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 301 Happy Retreat, Pembroke Grove, Charles Town, Sunday afternoon and evening, where a vigil will be at 5 p.m.; and at Cedar Hill Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
A committal service will follow.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Jeanaleah Carr Seibel, 65, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born Sept. 29, 1931, in Hendricks, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Delbert H. and Louiessa Carr Carr.
She was a retired supervisor at Fireman's Inc., Howard and Hoffman Insurance Co. in Washington, D.C., where she had worked for 30 years.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis F. Seibel; one daughter, Melanie S. Harman of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Rose Marie Carr and Lorraine Carr, both of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Shirley Carr of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas, W.Va.
