Daniels S. Jenkins
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Daniels S. Jenkins, 92, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Charles Town.
Born March 20, 1904, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Millard Moore and Lacie Anna Daniels Jenkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary Charlotte Walker Jenkins, in 1972.
He was the owner and operator of Jenkins Motor Service, Ranson, W.Va. He retired as a clerk at Charles Town Races; the Shenandoah Race Track and owned Jenkins Grocery Co., Charles Town.
He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police; Charles Town Loyal Order of Moose, and a charter member of the Kiwanis.
He is survivied by one duaghter, Lacie Mary Jenkins Mumaw of Charles Town; two grandchildren, Brenda Lee Wright and Daniels V. Mumaw, both of Charels Town; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town. The Rev. Keith Nickle will officiate.

Helen R. Hemp
FREDERICK, Md. - Helen R. Hemp, 65, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, at Washington Hospital Center.
Born March 6, 1931, in Marion, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Blackwell Ross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Hemp, on March 12, 1989.
She and her husband owned and operated Hemp's Electric Motor Service, first in Burkittsville, Md., and later in Knoxville, Md. She also had worked with Juvenile Services of Washington County and had been a foster mother to 12 children.
She is survived by three daughters, Helen G. Stottlemyer of Hagerstown, Holly M. High of Marlow, W.Va., and Patricia D. Rice of Thurmont, Md.; two sons, Alan E. Hemp of Hartwood, Va., and Galen E. Hemp of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sisters; three brothers; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Burkittsville. The Rev. George M. Harpel will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Frank Sheffer
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Frank Sheffer, 96, formerly of 320B Old National Pike, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at Frederick Healthcare Center, Frederick, Md.
Born June 26, 1900, in Bolivar, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edgar L. and Anna Derr Sheffer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Alexander Sheffer, on Nov. 17, 1967.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Zion Luthern Church, Middletown.
He also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1067, Frederick, and a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 371, Frederick.
He is survived by one daughter, Joan Blystone of Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sereta R. Mercer; two sons, Frank D. Sheffer and George W. SheFfer; and two sisters, Myrtle Moser and Mary Routzahn.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call any time Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Doris E. K. Moats
BOONSBORO - Doris Elaine Kershner Moats, 70, of 7727 Sharpsburg Pike, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 17, 1926, in Tilghmanton, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Blanche S. Clark Kershner.
She was a former employee of the Fairchild Aircraft cafeteria; the Ogden Food Co. and retired from the Gorham Co., all of Hagerstown.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband, Milton D. Moats; two sons, Gregory W. Churchey of Elerslie, Md., and P. David Churchey of Colorado; one stepdaughter, Maxine Sweeney of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two stepsons, M. Richard Moats of Williamsport and M. Eugene Moats of Hagerstown; three brothers, Edwin Kershner, John Kershner and Fred Kershner, all of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Kershner and Howard Kershner.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Manor Cemetery, Tilghmanton. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Catherine C. Burnett
Catherine C. Burnett, 66, of 1021 E. Lanvale St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, in Hagerstown.
Born April 3, 1930, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Lillian Mae Johnson.
She graduated from North Street School.
She was a retired registered nurse.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, and a former member of Asbury Board of Trustees.
She also was a member of PTA/Board of Education, and American Legion Womens Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda J. Burnett of Hagerstown; one son, Ricky Alan Duiguid Burnett of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters; and nine brothers.
Services will be held Monday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. The Rev. Anthony Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Williamsport.
A viewing will be held at the church Monday at noon.

Kermit S. Weller
SPRING HILL, Fla. - Kermit S. "Kerm" Weller, 62, of Timber Pines and Farmington Hills, Mich., died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996, at his home in Florida.
Born March 2, 1934, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Jacob S. and Ethel L. Exline Weller.
He was a 1952 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He was employed as a representative for Ciba - Geigy Pharmaceutical Co., in Michigan.
He was a member of Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church, Michigan, an elder deacon, and a member of the Hudson Methodist Church, Florida.
He also was a member of Boy Scouts of America - Corps Five; was a Special Olympics swim coach; past vice president of the Association for Retarded Citizens Northwest of Michigan; a hospice volunteer in Florida; volunteer for the literacy program in Michigan; and a volunteer for senior citizens services in Farmington Hills.
He is survived by his wife Roxana L. Weller; one daughter, Dylan R. Weller of Detroit; one son, Derek S. Weller of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Darlene W. Long of Owings Mills, Md., and Nelda L. Baker of Hagerstown; one aunt and one uncle.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. George W. Ennis will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Elsie V. Gray
Elsie Violet Gray, 91, of 704 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, at Colton Villa Nursing Home.
Born March 3, 1905, in Lost Hollow, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Francis M. and Ivy Law Reed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Lyle Gray.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Union.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Jack A. Gray of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one niece.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Francis M. Reed Jr.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Wendell Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Francis A. Coburn Jr.
Francis Allen "Frank" Coburn Jr., 67, of 28 Mealey Parkway, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 11, 1929, in Phoenixville, Pa., he was the son of the late Francis A. and Sarah Grace Kimes Coburn Sr.
He was a graduate of Lower Marion (Pa.) High School and Franklin and Marshall College.
He was the former owner of and present consultant with The Printing Place in Hagerstown.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean war. He received the Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, where he was chalicist and lay reader and a former member of the vestry and choir. He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church choir, the Hagerstown Choral Arts Choir and a former member of the Potomac Playmakers.
He was a former member of the Manheim Township, Pa., planning commission; past president of the Bicentennial Committee of Lancaster County, Pa., and past president of the sales and marketing executive in Lancaster.
He was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Nine and Ninety Club. He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, and a life member of W. D. Byron Post 1936 VFW, both in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Schultz Coburn, whom he married Dec. 22, 1982; one daughter, Margurite Coburn Green of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Brooks A. Coburn of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Jane Coburn Allison of Exton, Pa. and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth Dorsch, the Rev. Victor Zuck, the Rev. David Buchenroth and the Rev. Charles McGinley will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
