Thelma G. Collins
YORK, Pa. - Thelma Grosh Collins, 88, a resident of Rest Haven Nursing Home in York, Pa., and formerly of Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 24, 1997.
Born March 15, 1909, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Chester L. and Della S. Daley Grosh.
Her husband, Joseph Collins, preceded her in death.
She was the former owner and operator of Southern Texaco Service Station of Greencastle, and owned and operated Latch Spring Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa.
She is survived by one brother, Charles Eldon Grosh of Chambersburg; and one grandson, Lee V. Harmon of York.
She was preceded in death by one son, Chester C. Harmon; and two brothers, Glenn L. Grosh and Omer Grosh.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Robert E. Stumbaugh
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Robert E. Stumbaugh, 80, of 2550 Rogers Drive, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at Manor Care Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 15, 1917, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Earl S. and Mildred Ott Stumbaugh.
He received his G.E.D. from Chambersburg High School.
He was employed at the Naval Supply Service Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa., retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service as an equipment specialist.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the 517th Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company.
He was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church in Maugansville.
He also was a member of Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, and National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Alice K. Barnhart Stumbaugh, whom he married Feb. 11, 1944; two sisters, Doris Fritz of Chambersburg, and Gladys Clapsaddl of Boiling Springs, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave., Maugansville. John C. Hoffman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg, with graveside military services conducted by the honor guard of Charles M. Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599, Chambersburg.

Merle Elizabeth Hanlin
LEBANON, Pa. - Merle Elizabeth Clements Hanlin, 86, a resident of Sprang Crest Nursing Home, and formerly of Zullinger, Pa., died Monday, May 26, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born April 30, 1911, in Amherst County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Lillie Belle Ogden Clements.
She was valedictorian for the 1929 class of Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Va.
Her husband, Jesse Edward Hanlin, died in 1963. They were married in 1936.
She was employed as a cashier at Waynesboro High School for a number of years. She then did private duty nursing for a time.
She was a former member of Trinity United Brethren Church in State Line, Pa., where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She then became a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro.
She also was a member of Zullinger Homemakers Group.
She is survived by one daughter, Jerle H. Hanlin Martin of Denver, Pa.; two sons, James E. Hanlin of Zullinger, and John G. Hanlin of San Francisco, Calif.; four foster children, Thelma E. Cash of Amherst, Va., Leonard Eaton of Greencastle, Pa., Betty Dodson and James Dodson, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Rachel Draper of Greensboro, Md.; one brother, Ashby E. Clements Sr. of Fairfield, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She also raised two sons of Betty Dodson, Stanley Dodson of Greencastle, and Steven Dodson of Rouzerville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elma G. Pennington and Helen M. Hughes; two brothers, Robert W. Clements and James W. Clements; and one foster sister, Louise O. Clough.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Wilbur L. Sites will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Russell W. Swope
WELLS TANNERY, Pa. - Russell Wayne Swope, 64, of Star Route 2, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born July 11, 1932, in Wells Tannery, Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Ruth Swope O'Brien.
He worked as an equipment operator for Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife Vera Ritchey Swope, whom he married Aug. 11, 1951; three daughters, Kay Snyder and Connie Seville, both of Wells Tannery, and Ann Morningstar of Everett, Pa.; three sons, Larry Swope of Everett, Gary Swope and Norman Swope, both of Wells Tannery; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery in Wells Tannery. Neil Daetz, pastor, will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Lewis Henry Dellinger
Lewis Henry Dellinger, 86, of 1176 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 22, 1910, in Downsville, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary Susan Rhodes Dellinger.
His first wife, Helen Dellinger, died in 1978.
He was employed with Middlekauff Automobile and previously with Potomac Edison Bus Lines.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor S. Snelling Dellinger; twin daughters, Norma Jean Lowman of Williamsport, and Nelda Jane Harbaugh of Austin, Texas; two sons, Lewis H. Dellinger Jr. of Hagerstown, and Donald R. Dellinger of Falling Waters; one stepdaughter, Mary Smith; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Kenneth Spielman; and two grandsons.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Thomas L. Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Helen B. Weiderhold
Helen Berre Wiederhold, 75, of 10 Cypress St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse W. and Edith Homer Berre.
Her husband, Laurence J. Wiederhold, preceded her in death.
She was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was employed with the National Park Service for 13 years, retiring in 1990. She was previously employed with Fairchild Industries for 17 years and Holtzapple and Fiery.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Suzi Stricker of Hagerstown, and Jan W. Smith of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Charles R. Wiederhold of Hagerstown; one sister, Dorothy Farr of Pace, Fla.; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Carrie Elizabeth Sterling, 82, formerly of Sterling Road, Williamsport, who died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Ravenwood Nursing Home, was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Smith; and one grandson.

James V. DiBacco
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James Vincent DiBacco, 47, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born June 25, 1949, in Clarksburg, W.Va., he is the son of Abe L. and Ellen R. Ponikvar DiBacco of Martinsburg.
He was a 1967 graduate of Mountaineer High School in Davis, W.Va., and attended Resurrection College in Kitchner, Ontario, Canada.
He was owner and operator of The Fish Place in Hagerstown and Martinsburg.
He was a member of St. Josephs Church in Martinsburg.
He also was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 120 and National Bass Pro and Cabellas Organization.
He is survived by three daughters, Julie Christina York of Berkeley Springs, Jody Paula DiBacco and Jamie Marie DiBacco, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Mary Ellen Parsons of Charleston, W.Va.; one granddaughter; and one niece.
A Mass for the Dead will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with the Rev. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Thomas, W.Va.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis today from 2 to 9 p.m., with a vigil for the deceased at 7:30 p.m. today.
Otis L. Strumb
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Otis Lee Strumb, 74, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at his home.
Born July 24, 1922, in Durham, N.C., he was the son of the late Thomas Mason and Minnie Luetta Rochell Strumb.
Services will be held Saturday, June 7 at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Burial will be private.
