Eleanor A. Slinkman
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va.- Eleanor A. Slinkman, 77, of Shannondale, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1996, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born March 19, 1919, in York, Ala., she was the daughter of the late George Tyler and Susie Mae Cutsail Funk.
She worked in the nursing profession, having been a nurse receptionist for several doctors in the Washington, D.C., area.
She volunteered at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and was involved in opening the gift shop at the hospital.
She is survived by her husband, M. Payne Slinkman; one daughter, Mary Ann Slinkman of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one son, Joseph Payne Slinkman of Columbia, Md.; one sister, Julia Mae Kennedy of Frederick, Md.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one son, George Jerome Slinkman; and one brother, Julius Hume Funk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Bert Valdes will be celebrant. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson.

Myrtle B. Morrisey
SMITHSBURG - Myrtle B. Morrisey, 79, of Windy Haven Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Homewood Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Rowe Beatty.
She was a member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Queen Esther No. 3 Order of Eastern Star, Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Richard B. Morrisey; two sons, James R. Morrisey of Sewickey, Pa., and Franklin P. Morrisey of Smithsburg; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Viola B. Oslislo; and one brother, William Beatty.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor George W. Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.

John T. Hellane, II
ELKTON, Md. - John T. Hellane, II, 62, of 104 State St., died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1996, at Union Hospital, Elkton.
He was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Hagerstown.
He retired after 37 years of service as a lineman and installer with C & P Telephone Co.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Japan during the Korean War.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Elkton.
He was a retired past president of Northern Council Telephone Pioneers; past president and manager of Elkton Community Little League; head coach of Immaculate Conception's Boys' Basketball team for 10 years; coach of Immaculate Conception's Girls' Basketball Team for one year; was a member and bishop of Becker Council 2427 Knights of Columbus; head of The Society of St. Vincent dePaul; and a supporter of the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Hellane; one daughter, Peggy M. Morrissey of Elkton; one son, John Thomas Hellane III of Newark, Del.; one sister, Julia E. Garrett of Hagerstown; one brother, Vincent Hellane of Hagerstown; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Elkton. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cherry Hill, Md.
The family will receive friends Sunday after 7 p.m. at Gee Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, Md. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m.

SMITHSBURG - Mildred Marie Rohrer, 75, of 23525 Leathers Road, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1921, in Pinesburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ginny Hose Guessford.
She was previously employed with L'Aiglon and Dorbee Manufacturing.
She was a member of Blue Mountain Church of God.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Leo Rohrer; two sons, Joseph L. Rohrer of Hedgesville, W.Va., and David Guessford of Hagerstown; two sisters, Hazel Swope of Smithsburg, and Jean McClanahan of Hagerstown; one brother, Joseph Guessford of Williamsport; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Francis McElroy; two brothers, David Guessford and Richard Guessford; two half sisters, Helen Hyde and Sis Bragunier; and one half brother, Paul Guessford.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Gladys M. Link
WILLIAMSPORT - Gladys Mae Link, 81, of Homewood Retirement Center, and formerly of 1607 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1915, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Cecil B. and Flossie Ambrose Ridenour.
Her husband, Louis Albert Link, died in 1994.
She was employed with Maryland Ribbon Co. for a number of years. She was previously employed with Eyerly's Department Store in the children's department, The Bon-Ton, and Leiter Brothers.
She was a former member of Lady Elks Lodge 378 and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Shirley Bowlus Hauver and Betty Jean Bowlus Lynch, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Blanche Eissner of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four nieces; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice V. Fox and Helen M. Grandstaff; and one brother, George E. Ridenour.
Services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

COUDERSPORT, Pa. - Edith E. Haight, 62, of RD 1, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.
Born March 5, 1934, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Blain and Elizabeth Phillips Jordan.
She was a homemaker, and a former employee of Cooper Slide Sales Inc. in Genesee, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur D. "Jim" Haight, whom she married Oct. 15, 1953; five daughters, Betty Ann Bunnell and Starlette VanHorn, both of Coudersport, Bonnie Butts and Lynn Manhart, both of Allegany, N.Y., and Marcia Studer of Wellsville, N.Y.; one son, David Haight of Salamanca, N.Y.; one sister, Rose Ann Kennedy of Greencastle, Pa.; three brothers, Branson R. Jordan of Auburn, N.Y., Blain J. Jordan and Clyde E. Jordan, both of Hagerstown; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Crystal Haight; one brother, Glenn Jordan; and one grandson.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East St., Coudersport. The Rev. Eugene Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Brookland Cemetery.

Earl L. Shoemaker
CLEAR SPRING - Earl Luther "Yittle" Shoemaker, 71, of 12215 Big Spring Road, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 4, 1925, in Millstone, Md., he was the son of the late William P. and Alice Snyder Shoemaker.
He retired from W.D. Byron Co. after 21 years of service.
He attended Mount Calvary Church of God in Clear Spring.
He was a lifetime member of Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Bridendolph Shoemaker; one daughter, Darlene E. Hovermale of Big Spring; six sons, Richard L. Shoemaker of Williamsport, Gilbert D. Shoemaker of Waynesboro, Pa., Earl Lynn Shoemaker of Hagerstown, Daryl W. Shoemaker, Ronald A. Shoemaker and Donald E. Shoemaker, all at home; one sister, Dorothy French of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jesse Shoemaker and Patsy Shoemaker, both of Clear Spring; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Doris L. Repp; one sister and three brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Shanktown Cemetery in Big Pool.

Melvin C. Harman
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Melvin Charles Harman, 64, of Harpers Ferry, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 3, 1932, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar Vincent and Alice Virginia Hann Harman.
He was an electrician and employed with FMC in Baltimore for 26 years.
He was a member of Mayberry Archery Club and Polly High Alumni.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Falk Harman; one daughter, Michele Gallihugh of Ranson; one son, Melvin C. Harman Jr., at home; one sister, Dorothy Johnson of Mooresburg, Tenn.; and two brothers, Marion C. Harman of Harpers Ferry and Samuel Harman of Baltimore.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Dwane Casteel will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
