B. Scott Hedrick
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - B. Scott Hedrick, 36, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born June 5, 1960, in Martinsburg, he is the son of Joseph R. and Patricia Swain Hedrick of Martinsburg;
He was a self-employed siding mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Donna Lynne James of Martinsburg; three brothers, Robert Joseph Hedrick of Bloomery, W.Va., Oland James Hedrick of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Michael Wayne Hedrick of Martinsburg.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
The Rev. Dan Dugan will officiate.
Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Maude M. Akers
WILLIAMSPORT - Maude M. Akers, 94, of Williamsport, and formerly of Crystal Springs, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born Dec. 7, 1902, in Brush Creek Township, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Christian W. and Margaret Welsh Spade.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Hendershot; and by her second husband, Earl M. Akers, in 1989.
She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Reece of Lutherville, Md., and Mable Clark of Clear Spring; one son, Wayne Milton Akers of San Rafael, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Virginia Shanholtz of Keymar, Md.; two sisters, Ruth Murray of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Gladys Smith of Crystal Spring; one brother, Warren Spade of Crystal Spring; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, Pa.
The Rev. Donald Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in McKendree Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the services.

John J. Miller Sr.
YORK, Pa. - John Jacob Miller Sr., 85, of York, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, Pa.
Born Jan. 27, 1911, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary Connors Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice V. Thompson Miller, in 1995.
He was a displayer and retired from Sears Roebuck in York in 1973.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Moose, Gettysburg, Pa.
He is survived by two daughters, Joan Kemper of Waynesboro, Pa., and Sharon Ehrmen of Butler, Pa.; two sons, John J. Miller Jr. of Glen Burnie, Md., and Robert E. Miller of McConnellsburg; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville.
The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Joseph D. Peddicord
Joseph D. Peddicord, 89, of 1312 Hamilton Blvd., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Baltimore County, Md., he was the son of the late Walter D. and Goldie D. Summerville Peddicord.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Miller Peddicord, in 1979.
He retired after 45 years of service in the accounting office of Western Maryland Railway.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy Air Force.
He was stationed in California.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Young Wingler Peddicord; one stepson, Richard R. Wingler of Morrisonville, N.Y.; one brother, Cloyd O. Peddicord of Hagerstown; and two step-grandsons.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the service.

M.E. Ruth Decker
Mary Ellen Ruth Decker, 94, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Potomac Towers, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 26, 1902, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Orpha Dubel Snook.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Friendly Philathea Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughters, P. Lucille Ingram and Annabell Wyant, both of Hagerstown; one son, Samuel Decker of Annapolis; one sister, Viola Fox of Hagerstown; one brother, Charles Snook of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Elwood R. Decker; and one great-grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Lydia B. Biesecker
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lydia B. Biesecker, 97, a resident of Menno-Haven, Inc., and formerly of 264 Miller St., died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Menno-Haven.
Born Oct. 22, 1899, in St. Thomas Township, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Frisby C. and Martha Armstrong Statler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George I. Biesecker, in 1980.
She was employed as a supervisor by H.J. Heinz Co. and retired in 1964 with 40 years of service.
She was the first lady to work at H.J. Heinz Co. in Chambersburg.
She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, St. Thomas.
She was a former member of Chambersburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Age Club and AARP.
She is survived by one brother, Harvey A. Statler of Chambersburg; one niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Herbert P. Spomer will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - O. Ray Smith, 70, of 14070 Dutchtown Road, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Jan. 27, 1926, in Welsh Run, Pa., he was the son of the late J. Rush and Barbara C. Grosh Smith.
He was employed as a painter by J.J. Smith & Sons of Greencastle, Pa., for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Mercersburg.
He was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241; Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1790; all of Mercersburg; and Wesley Yeager American Legion Post 606 of Fort Loudon, Pa.
He is survived by his companion of 19 years, Mildred Faith of Mercersburg; two sisters, Helen Kroll of Chambersburg and Kathryn Billow of Severna Park, Md.; and one brother, Donald L. Smith of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A wake and prayer service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.
The Rev. Daniel F. Lawler will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
