Doris C.J. Thompson
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Doris C. Johns Thompson, 78, of 420 Cleveland Ave., and a guest of Manor-Care, Chambersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Rush Melvin and Elsie Glen Brown Johns.
She lived her early life in the Chambersburg area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Thompson, in 1978.
She was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill and Waynesboro Shoe Factory.
She also operated an antique shop in her home for 20 years.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.
She was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Ladies Auxiliary; William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 Ladies Auxiliary; and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758 Ladies Auxiliary, all of Waynesboro, and National AARP.
She is survived by one son, Richard E. Thompson of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; six sisters, Gwendolyn McBride, a resident of Franklin County Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Gladys Gilbert of Waynesboro, Betty Spong of New Orleans, Janet Helfrick and Jean Smith, both of Stuart, Fla., and Dorothy Loy of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia R. Blubaugh; and one brother, Richard Johns.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove funeral home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
Pastor Jay A. Saxe and Pastor Roger E. Keech will officate.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

SMITHSBURG - Mildren Marie Rohrer, 75, of 23525 Leathers Road, who died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, is survived by a sister, Mary Jane McClanathan of Hagerstown.
Freeda D. Gregory
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Freeda Duvall Gregory, of 202 N. Second St., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
She was a retired beautician and had her beauty shop in her home.
Burial was in Everett Cemetery, Everett, Pa.

Anthony J. Bonacci
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anthony J. Bonacci, 72, of 20 Harbo Road, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at his home.
Born Aug. 5, 1924, in Carbondale, Pa., he was the son of the late Nicola and Catherine Molinaro Bonacci.
He was a 1942 graduate of the former Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.
He was employed as a small arms engineer by Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and retired in 1985.
He and his wife owned and operated the former Ann's Fabric Center, located at the former Nichol's Shopping Plaza, from 1977 to 1985.
Between his military service and government employment, he had a total of 35 years of service with the government.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army Depot.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Evans Bonacci, whom he married on Dec. 4, 1951; one daughter, Brenda A. Woodring of Chambersburg; three sisters, Clara Rosipko and Lucille Bonacci, both of Baltimore, and Elsie Zitterman of Carbondale; three brothers, Samuel Bonacci of Jessup, Md., Phillip Bonacci of Archibald, Pa., and Nicholas Bonacci of Baltimore; a nephew, Daniel DelGuercio of Denver, whom they raised; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service Tuesday.
Ronald C. McMurtrie
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Ronald Calvin McMurtrie, 55, of 8206 James St., died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born June 27, 1941, in Allentown, Pa., he was the son of Calvin Luther McMurtrie of Bethlehem, Pa., and the late Ruth Naomi Dialey McMurtrie.
He was the stepson of Mary Rose McMurtrie.
He was employed as a supervisor by A.T.&T.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Myersville Baptist Church.
He was a member of Valley Memorial Post 9 AMVETS, Middletown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary Case McMurtrie; one daughter, Donna Jane Reed of Middletown; two sons, Brian R. McMurtrie and Alan Dean McMurtrie, both of Boonsboro; two sisters, Joanne Kehley of Bethlehem and Joyce Koch of Emmaus, Pa.; one brother, Jack McMurtrie of Allentown; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.
The Rev. Wayne Spear will officiate.
Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Richard S. Shockey Sr.
Richard S. Shockey Sr., 82, a resident of Colton Villa, Hagerstown, and formerly of 12951 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1914, in Beartown, Washington Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Elmer H. and Ivy C. Emory Shockey.
He was a life-long resident of Beartown, near Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva E. Rowland Shockey, in 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Air Force.
In his early life, he was employed by Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro.
He then worked as a carpenter for Ormar Klecker of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
Following his discharge from the military, he returned to Landis Tool Co. as a laborer and then worked at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown.
Prior to retiring in 1989, he owned and operated Shockey's Salvage Yard in Beartown for 27 years.
He was a member of Calvary Chapel Episcopal Church, Beartown.
He is survived by two daughters, Janet L. Ocker of Marion, Pa., and Rosalie S. Harbaugh of Waynesboro; one son, Richard S. Shockey of Waynesboro; three sisters, Mary L. Malles of Florida, Ruth C. Price and Dorothy J. Pryor, both of Waynesboro; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances C. Hampton; three brothers, Christian Shockey, Reuben Shockey and Samuel Shockey; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Episcopal Church, Beartown.
Stephen D. Harris will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services Tuesday.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

BOONSBORO - Harry Joshua "Sam" Crum, 85, of Boonsboro, who died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, was a member of Tri-State Church of God, Boonsboro.
He also was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Crum.
