Raymond G. Breeden
ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Raymond G. Breeden, 72, of Orange Park, and formerly of Fairplay, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996.
Born Feb. 6, 1924, in Fairplay, he was the son of the late Benjamin Breeden and Letha Middlekauff Shatzer.
He moved to the Orange Park area in the 1960s, where he started the Breeden Construction Co., which he operated until his retirement.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle Breeden; one daughter, Nancy McNeill of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Ray Gary Breeden of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Joyce Ortagus, Cathy Patton and Janie Hunt, all of Orange Park; two sisters, Irene Greenfield of Boonsboro and Cornelia Davis of Greencastle, Pa.; one brother, John E. Breeden of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Nelson.
Services were held Thursday, Dec. 12, at Helm Funeral Home, Green Cove Springs. The Rev. Charlie Hunt and the Rev. Hal Kitchings officiated. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
Robert L. Sigler
Robert Lee Sigler, 70, of 11408 Rock Hill Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at his home.
Born July 31, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Henry and Mary L. Lynn Sigler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carleen E. Sigler, in 1989.
He retired in 1988 from Columbia Gas of Maryland.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Church of the Holy Trinity U.C.C.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1936; member of American Legion Post 222, Clear Spring, and National AARP.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda L. McClosky of Hagerstown; three sisters, Elizabeth Ogden and Regina Forrest, both of Boonsboro, and Thelma Jackson of Sharpsburg; two brothers, Maurice Sigler and Glenn Sigler, both of Hagerstown; one grandson; nieces and nephews; and a companion, Louise McCauley of Hagerstown.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David S. Templeton Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Jack L. Shrader Sr.
Jack Leroy Shrader Sr., 77, of 1945 Day Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 9, 1919, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Leroy and Pearl DeHaven Shrader.
He was employed by Certain-Teed and retired after 13 years of employment. He was previously employed by Fairchild Aircraft and Wilcraft Hosiery.
He was a 50-year member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown.
He was past president of Union Cement Lime and Allied Workers International AFLCIO No. 533.
He is survived by his wife, E. Hope Showe Shrader; one son, Jack Leroy Shrader Jr. of Annapolis; and three grandchildren, Meghan Shrader, Chelsea Shrader and Jacqueline Shrader, all of Annapolis.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward W. Simonsen will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Theodore K. Axline
SMITHSBURG - Theodore Kitchener Axline, 78, of 21312 Twin Springs Drive, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Ravenwood Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Born March 25, 1918, in Petersville, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Alma Henderson Axline.
He was employed as a carpenter by Washington D.C. Carpenters Union, Local 132.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville.
He was a charter member of Chewsville Lions Club.
He was the institutional representative of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 62.
He is survived by his wife, Marian E. Marker Axline; one daughter, Susan McAllister of Smithsburg; one son, Theodore K. Axline II of Hagerstown; four sisters, Marion Snoots and Nora Coates, both of Knoxville, Md., Alice McDade of Jefferson, Md., and Kathleen Bartgis of Mt. Airy, Md.; one brother, David Axline of Hanover, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Axline, Eugene Axline and Lee Axline.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.

Jack Gertzog
SMITHSBURG - Jack Gertzog, 63, of Smithsburg, died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at his home.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. I. Gertzog.
He was a 1956 graduate of Yale University. He attended Yale School of Graduate Studies. He received a Research and Teaching Graduate Assistantship as well as his master's degree from the University of Rochester.
He retired from the Food and Drug Administration in 1995. He was the director of the Extramural Scientific Advisors and Consultants Program for Biologics and Drugs. He also owned and operated a small hardwood tree farm and was active in trying to re-establish the North American chestnut tree. As a young man, he prospected for gold in the Yukon Territories, and spent three summers working for the Forest Service in Montana and Colorado.
He was a member or active in a number of scientific, population and ecological preservation and other professional organizations. He authored and gave numerous professional papers in various fields.
He is survived by his wife, Rita McDaniels Gertzog; one daughter, Wendy Gertzog Bair; one brother, Irv Gertzog of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Gertzog and Harold Gertzog.
A memorial service will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Pennsylvania Avenue, Smithsburg. The Rev. David Bumbaugh will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the service at Chewsville Community Center, Whitehall Road, Chewsville.

Gladys E. Mikesell
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gladys Elizabeth Mikesell, 87, of 12083 Gehr Road, Waynesboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1908, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late J. Harry and Addie Peiffer Mikesell.
She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1926, and graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa., in 1930 with a bachelor of arts degree in math and language. She then received her permanent certification from Shippensburg State College and her guidance certificate from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. She also did graduate work at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
She was employed at Waynesboro Area School District from 1930 until retiring in August 1974. From 1957 until retirement she was head librarian at Waynesboro High School, served as cooperating teacher, and as the Blue and Gold Adviser and Student Adviser.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, and served as church librarian for a number of years. She also served on the Christian Education Committee of the church.
She also was a member of Waynesboro Historical Society, Friends of the Library in Waynesboro, National AARP, Franklin County Retired Teachers Association, and the Pa. Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by a nephew, Dr. Richard Hess Mikesell, of Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Mikesell, John Mikesell, and H. Orville Mikesell.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Richard A. Seako will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery, near Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
The family wishes the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
William W. Zacharski
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - William W. Zacharski, 82, of Route 3, Hedgesville, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at his home.
Born Nov. 21, 1914, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Wojcik Zacharski.
He was employed in physical medicine at Veterans Affairs Medical Center near Martinsburg, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and attended Snyders Chapel.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
He was a member of NARFE; Berkeley Post 14, American Legion; the Sierra Club, Berkeley Springs Chapter 77, O.E.S.; DeFord Lodge 88, A.F.&A.M. in Berkeley Springs; and AARP.
He also was a member of the 14th Degree Lodge of Perfection, the Rose Cruix and the Clarksburg Consistory. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Osiris Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Ethelmae Hines Zacharski, whom he married Aug. 19, 1944; and two sisters, Dorothy Parrott and Leona Pearce, both of Baltimore.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Zacharski; and two brothers, Joseph Zacharski and Leonard L. Zacharski.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. G. Edward Grove, the Rev. Kenneth L. Reed and the Rev. Joe Mercer will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens Cemetery in Martinsburg with masonic graveside services conducted by DeFord Lodge 88, A.F.&A.M., Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Berkeley Springs Chapter 77, O.E.S.
All Master Masons will meet at the Lodge Hall in Berkeley Springs at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Edward S. Tomlin
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edward Seymour Tomlin, 62, of Cattail Road, Charles Town, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 26, 1934, in Loudoun County, Va., he was the son of the late Willard W. and Ruth C. Wagaman Tomlin.
He retired after 21 years of service with the Jefferson County Department of Highways.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dorothy L. Painter Tomlin, at home; one daughter, Dorothy DeHaven of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four sons, Charles Tomlin, Franklin Tomlin and Douglas Tomlin, all of Charles Town, and Joseph Tomlin of Martinsburg; one sister, Dessie Rodis of Martinsburg; two brothers, David Tomlin and William Tomlin, both of Charles Town; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Tomlin.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Assembly Pentecostal Church in Millville, W.Va. The Rev. Joseph Fraley and the Rev. David Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens Cemetery in Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
