Mary M. Shaw

SHARPSBURG - Mary Magdalene Shaw, 74, of 17420 Millers Sawmill Road, Sharpsburg, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 3, 1922, in Antietam, she was the daughter of the late Otho Lester and Hattie Virginia McCoy Burgan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob William Shaw, in 1983.

She attended the Burnside Church of God in Sharpsburg.

She was a member of Brunswick Moose Lodge 1582, Brunswick Eagles Club 1136, Antietam Post 236 Ladies Auxiliary and AARP.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth L. Shaw, at home; one sister, Ethel I. Miskell of Dargan; three brothers, Floyd Richard Burgan and Garvin Wayne Burgan, both of Antietam, and Everett E. Burgan of Dargan; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leoda V. Crampton and Alice T. Lohman, and one brother Charles L. Burgan.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Burnside Church of God, Mills Road, Sharpsburg. Pastor Ernest E. Witmer will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open Thursday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sharpsburg Area Emergency Medical Services, P.O. Box 307, Sharpsburg, Md. 21782, or the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 297, Sharpsburg, Md. 21782.

Paul F. Holton

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Paul Frederick Holton, 56, of Falling Waters, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996, at his home.

Born Sept. 21, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was the son of the late Peter A. and Vera Wilcox Holton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member the Lions Club in Riverdale, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Irene Grey Holton; one daughter, Sandra J. Wheeler of Martinsburg, W.Va; four sons, Edward P. Holton of Gaithersburg, Md., Jeffrey P. Holton of Fairfax, Va., Steven F. Nichols of Hyattsville, Md., and Edward W. Holton of Falling Waters; two sisters, Lois Larson of Grand Rapids and Glenna Thompson of Naples, Fla.; three brothers, Keith Holton of Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., Earl Holton and Michael Holton, both of Grand Rapids; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 8300 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Md.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Ralph J. Yingling

ORBISONIA, Pa. - Ralph J. Yingling, 89, of Woodland Retirement Center, and formerly of Three Springs, Pa., died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996, at Woodland Retirement Center.

Born Sept. 1, 1907, in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, Pa., he was the son of the late Ephraim and Josephine Rupert Yingling.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Pa. The Rev. John Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Hustontown.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Eugene B. Garland

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Eugene B. Garland, 72, of 325 S. First St., died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1996, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pa.

Born Feb. 12, 1924, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Blair and Lessie Bard Garland.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by Fulton County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Roy L. Davis

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Roy Lee Davis, 83, of Martinsburg, and formerly of Glassboro, N.J., died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1996, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born July 18, 1913, in Uniontown, Pa. he was the son of the late Walter Burton and May Ella Stackenwalt Davis.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 220 S. Queen St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Stained Glass Window Fund, 220 S. Queen St., Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401; or Martinsburg Rescue Mission.

Roger D. Tedrick

BIG POOL - Roger Daniel Tedrick, 87, of 11408 Tedrick Drive, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at his home.

Born July 6, 1909, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Daniel H. Tedrick and Louise Kathryn Shank Tedrick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Spielman Tedrick, in 1992.

He was a lifetime farmer and orchardist.

He restored the stonework at Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool.

He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Big Pool, where he served as treasurer for more than 50 years.

He served on the board at Southern States Co.

He is survived by one daughter, Janet L. Bowers of Hagerstown; two sons, Thomas N. Tedrick and William M. Tedrick, both of Clear Spring; one brother, Marshall E. Tedrick of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Big Pool. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Shanktown Cemetery, Big Pool.

The family will receive friends at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, Tedrick Drive, Big Pool, Md. 21711; or Virginia Tedrick Scholarship Fund, c/o Rick Tedrick, 14637 Blairs Valley Road, Clear Spring, Md. 21722.

Goldie Gardner

Goldie Gardner, 69, of 429 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 1996, at Avalon Manor, Hagerstown.

Born June 10, 1927, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Cora Myers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Albertus "Bud" Gardner, in 1984.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Mae Magaha of Hagerstown; three sons, Allen Leroy Gardner of Smithsburg, Thomas Wayne Gardner of Hagerstown and Ronnie Herman Gardner of Big Spring; one sister, Elizabeth Crum of Hagerstown; one brother, Leroy Myers of Williamsport; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, May Paul; and two brothers, John Myers and Albert Myers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.

A. Louise Price

A. Louise Price, 92, of 522 Reynolds Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 24, 1903, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Ella S. Lushbaugh McClain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando Price, in 1950.

She was employed by Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Md. She also was a seamstress.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

She was a member of Maryland Deaf Association, National Deaf Association and Washington County Deafnet Association.

She is survived by three nieces, Wilhelminia M. Smith of Hagerstown, Doris M. McFaddin of Gable, S.C., and Mary Katherine Krell of Bloomington, Ind.; and one nephew, Douglas V. McClain of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette McClain, Catherine Hess and Vivian Helm; and four brothers, Lawrence McClain, Charles McClain, Arthur McClain and G. Vincent "Mac" McClain.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Thomas L. Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
