G. Francis Shaffer
KEEDYSVILLE - George Francis Shaffer, 75, of 4103 Trego Road, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1921, he was the son of the late John Rohrer and Mae Shaffer Rohrer.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a school bus driver for 23 years.
He was a member of Boonsboro Bible Church.
He was a charter member and president of Rohrersville Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his wife, Edith H. Long Shaffer, whom he married on Feb. 4, 1942; two sons, George F. Shaffer Jr. of Wheaton, Md., and David L. Shaffer of Keedysville; one sister, Marion Smith of Boonsboro; one brother, John D. Rohrer of Braddock Heights, Md.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph Downs will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Alben L. Deneen
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Alben L. Deneen, 40, of Warfordsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, as a result of an automobile accident near Hagerstown.
Born March 7, 1956, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Donald W. Berkstresser Sr. and Lena Belle Stahle Berkstresser of Needmore, Pa.
He was a 1974 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, Warfordsburg.
He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Satricia Woodal and Trecila Ward, both of Warfordsburg, and Danya Berkstresser of Frederick, Md.; two brothers, Lubrent Deneen of Berkeley Springs and Donald Wayne Berkstresser Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md.; three nieces; and four nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Buck Valley Methodist Church, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Frank Teeter will officiate. Burial will be in Buck Valley Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m.
Jane P.P. Snyder
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jane Porter Post Snyder, 77, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born March 19, 1919, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Porter and Sally Morgan Hodges Post and stepdaughter of the late Dr. H.G. Tonkin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Snyder.
She was a 1936 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a volunteer for Kings Daughter Hospital Cripple Childrens Clinic.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by an aunt, Mary Hodges Bowers of Florida; and a close friend, Dr. D. Ewell Hendrick.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today one hour prior to the service.
H. Glenn Rife
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - H. Glenn Rife, 87, of 279 E. King St., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at his home.
Born June 19, 1909, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wilbur Nusbaum and Ruth S. Rife.
He was employed in sales by Chambersburg Motor Parts for 20 years and retired in 1975. He was formerly owner and operator of Atlantic, Shell and a Tydol gas stations. He also was a taxi cab driver.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Odd Fellows, formerly in Chambersburg, and the former Good Will Fire Co., Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, M. Blanche Gipe Rife, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1930; two daughters, Barbarba Summers and Darlene Stiver, both of Chambersburg; one son, Robert G. Rife of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two half-sisters.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey L. Roth will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Harvey W. Gehr
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Harvey Wayne Gehr, 98, of 11520 Gehr Road, and formerly of Fredericksburg, Pa., and Bradenton, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at the home of his niece, Catherine Gembe, with whom he lived.
Born March 26, 1898, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harvey J. and Sudie Shockey Gehr. He lived his early life in the Waynesboro area.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther R. Bordner Gehr.
A 1916 graduate of Waynesboro High School, he attended Lebanon Valley College and graduated from Ohio Northern University with a degree in engineering.
A veteran of World War I and World War II, he was a captain in the U.S. Army. He served in China and helped to build the Burma Road.
He was employed by Pennsylvania Department of Highways for more than 35 years as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1968. He also was a self-employed contractor in the Reading, Pa., area and was an adviser for the construction of bridges and highways in a number of states.
He was a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. After moving to Florida, he became a member of the United Brethren Church in Bradenton. After moving back to Waynesboro, he attended Trinity United Church of Christ.
He was a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge 226 Free and Accepted Masons, Lebanon, Pa.; Harrisburg Consistory; S.P.R.S. 32; Zembo Temple, Harrisburg, Pa.; and National AARP.
He is survived by one brother, Samuel R. Gehr of Sykesville, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Gehr; and two brothers, Ralph E. Gehr and John S. Gehr.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., Waynesboro. Pastor Kim L. Blocher will officiate.
Services also will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, Southwest Shirksville Road and Pa. 343, Fredericksburg. Pastor Timothy Heitz will officiate.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to each service at the churches.

Chester I. Domer
WILLIAMSPORT - Chester Ivan "Jack" Domer, 87, of 17105 Miner Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 1, 1909, in Funkstown, he was the son of the late George Washington and Florence Domer.
He was a life-long farmer.
He also was employed with Pangborn, Fairchild and retired from Bester and Long.
He was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Domer; one daughter, Ruth Ann Cunningham of Williamsport; one half-sister, Geraldine Chaney of Hagerstown; one half-brother, Robert "Boots" Domer of Hagerstown; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m.
