Alpha J. Tay
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Alpha Josephine Tay, 88, of Falling Waters, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at the home of her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Frank M. and Terri L. Snodgrass.
Born Dec. 2, 1908, in Picayune, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Cooper Flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Tay.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Rose Jensen of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Ayesha Flowers Anderson and Athene Flowers Roark; two brothers, Wiley J. Flowers and Wilber C. Flowers; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

A. Grayson Phelps
MYERSVILLE, Md. - A. Grayson Phelps, 79, of Main Street, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at the home of his son, Richard A. Phelps, Myersville.
Born Sept. 16, 1917, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Albert Rudolph and Anna Pearl Sheets Phelps.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine A. Miller Phelps, in 1992.
He was employed for more than 20 years by Sealtest Dairy, Frederick, and retired from Fairchild Aircraft, Gaithersburg, Md.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Myersville, and Men's Sunday School Class.
He is survived by two sons, Jack Phelps of Frederick and Richard A. Phelps of Myersville; five grandchildren, Rick Phelps, Jean Phelps Delauter, Greg Phelps, Tommy Phelps and Carol Phelps; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Parrard; and one brother, Oliver Phelps.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville. The Rev. Norman D. Kemmerer will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Juanita C. Bushman
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Juanita C. Bushman, 90, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at the Extended Care Facility of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born Jan. 17, 1906, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Lottie L. Spring Clingerman.
Her husband, Robert L. Bushman, died in 1980.
She attended Cedar Point School and Mount Nebo School, both in Great Cacapon, and Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, W.Va.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Church of Christ.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by three daughters, Louise M. Keiter and Thelma Ann Swaim, both of Berkeley Springs, and Lois Jean Swaim of Hagerstown; one son, James K. Bushman of Charles Town, W.Va.; one brother, Blaine C. Clingerman of Great Cacapon; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Bushman; and two brothers, Kermit B. Clingerman and Kenmore Clingerman.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Edwin Floyd, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Nebo Cemetery in Great Cacapon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Mary E. Custer
Mary E. Custer, 64, of 715 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Feb. 14, 1932, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Barnhart Bowers.
She was employed as a nursing assistant at Garlock Memorial Convalescent Home in Hagerstown from 1969 until her retirement due to disability in 1982.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn M. Custer, whom she married June 1, 1951; one daughter, Lucille Souders of Hagerstown; one sister, Bertha Lee Helmick of Hancock; two brothers, Paul Bowers of Black Oak, Pa., and the Rev. Gerald Bowers of Williamsburg, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David G. Custer; and one brother, John Bowers.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. Joseph H. Helmick, pastor, will officiate. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
There will be no viewing, but the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

William O. Frank
BOONSBORO - William Oscar Frank, 85, a resident of Reeders Memorial Home, died Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1911, in Westmoreland County, Va., he was the son of the late James and Mary Frank.
He had been employed by Pan American Airways, Fairchild Aircraft and Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Friendship Lodge 84, A.F.&A.M.; North American Rod and Gun Club; and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by one daughter, Corniela Susan Weyhe of Dunedin, Fla.; one son, Donald S. Frank of Moore, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
Private memorial services will be held at his birthplace in King George, Va.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Vivian M.L. Moats
TEHACHAPI, Calif. - Vivian Mae Larson Moats, 75, of Tehachapi, formerly of Pennsylvania, Norfolk, Va., and Utah, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at her home as a result of cancer.
Born Nov. 29, 1921, in Preston, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late Elnar and Avilda Larson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Moats, in 1988.
She attended Virginia Intermount College on the Virginia/Tennessee border.
She assisted her husband in the growth of his accounting practice in Norfolk.
While in Utah, she was a service leader for the women's auxiliary of her congregation, coordinating meals and assistance in times of sickness, need and bereavement.
She is survived by four children, Duane Moats of Tehachapi, Patricia Sampson Chappell of Loa, Utah, Susan Kirgan of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and William Moats of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Skinner Pederson; and one brother, Robert Larson.
Services were held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Tehachapi.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, at Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Pa. Duane Moats and William Moats will officiate.
Local arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa.
Josephine Andrejko
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Josephine Andrejko, 85, of Route 2, Box 148A-34, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born July 16, 1911, in Winber, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Andrejko.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Andrejko and Frank Andrejko.
Services will be Saturday at noon at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. David Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
