Evelyn Roberts
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Evelyn Roberts, 76, of Quincy United Methodist Home, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at the home.
She was the daughter of the late Roy W. Sheckells and Charlotte Pumphrey.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Winters of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Patricia Wilson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four sons, Richard Elliott of Widber, Pa., Larry Roberts of Hagerstown, Garry Roberts of Fayetteville, Pa., and Gregory Roberts of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sisters, Ruth Griffith and Doris Sheckells, both of Brunswick, Md., and Mary Grubb of Morgansville, Md.; one brother, David Sheckells; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Sheckells; and one brother, Roy W. Sheckells Jr.
Private graveside services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in Brunswick.
Memorial donations may be made to Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa., or the American Cancer Society.
John E. Pike
John Edmund Pike, 69, of 524 Jefferson St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 23, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ira and Helen Jackson Pike.
He retired from TriState Roofing.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of North American Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Doris M. Pike; one daughter, Elaine Keener of Maugansville; one son, John E. Pike Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Shirley Lum of Smithsburg; two brothers, Robert S. Pike of Hagerstown and George W. Pike of Spotsylvania, Va.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Jennie M. Smith
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jennie M. Smith, 77, of 75 W. South St., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Dawson, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Clara Jones Jones.
Her first husband, Charlie W. Jones, died in 1974.
Her second husband, Morris Smith, died in 1995.
She was employed as a laborer at Knouse Foods in Peach Glen, Adams County, Pa., for 23 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Amos Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Mummasburg, Pa., where she was founder and church mother.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary B. Livingston of McKnightstown, Pa., and Gayle J. Jones of Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Mattie W. Simmons of Hartford, Conn.; three sons, Willie C. Jones, Elbert L. Jones and George W. Jones, all of Chambersburg; 30 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church of Christ, 145 S. Franklin St., Gettysburg, Pa. Bishop John T. Trammel will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Chambersburg.

Getha H. Ketchum
RANSON, W.Va. - Getha H. Ketchum, 78, formerly of Ranson, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 7, 1918, in Waverly, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ida Pease.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Ketchum.
She is survived by one son, Marlo Deane Ketchum of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Floyd E. Ketchum, Charles C. Ketchum and Wayne Ketchum.
Services and burial are private at Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, N.Y.

Raymond R. Koontz
BOONSBORO - Raymond Reed Koontz, 80, of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Ravenwood Lutheran Home, Hagerstown.
Born June 26, 1916, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late George Joseph and Minnie Dorothy Straitiff Koontz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glendora Long Koontz, in 1989.
He was employed by the R. Paul Smith Power Plant in Williamsport for 35 years, retiring in 1976.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of Improved Order of Redmen Tribe 84, Williamsport, where he served as past sachem. He also was a member of Quarter Century Club of Potomac Edison and AARP.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Jordan of Sharpsburg; one stepson, Russell Rhinehart of Hagerstown; three sisters, Virginia Hause, Florence Giffin and Ann Myers, all of Hagerstown; two brothers, Harry Koontz and Phillip "Buck" Koontz, both of Hagerstown; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Geneive Gossard; and three brothers, George W. Koontz, William "Bill" Koontz and Paul Koontz.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of the family and friends, the funeral home will open at 9 a.m. today.

Marinus Heymering
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Marinus Heymering, 96, of 227 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 11, 1900, in Pekalongan, Java, Indonesia, he was the son of the late Sebastiaan Geerloff and Bertha Scherer Heymering. He lived his early life in the Dutch East Indies.
He served in the Dutch East Indies Militia in 1921.
He graduated from high school and moved to the United States in 1926 to further his education in mechanical engineering. He was a 1934 graduate of University of Cincinnati.
He worked as a tool and machine designer for Lodge and Shipley Co. in Cincinnati, then Herald Machine Co. of Worcester, Mass. He then worked for Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. in Cincinnati. He moved to Waynesboro in 1944, and was employed in the engineering department by Teledyne-Landis Machine Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1966.
He was a member of the Southern Engineers of Hagerstown; Washington County Museum of Fine Arts; Hagerstown AARP; and was a charter member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro, for which he was the first treasurer. He bowled with the Senior Citizens Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Wood Heymering, whom he married on April 15, 1944; two sons, Marinus Heymering Jr. of Salt Lake City and Henry Wood Heymering of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; one sister, Ena Kuyl of Pretoria, Republic of South Africa; one grandson; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Guuja Blank and Bertha Heymering.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 112 E. Second St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Stephen D. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Utica, N.Y.
There will be no public viewing.
The family will receive friends in the church social room following the service.

Jackson K. Ringer
TOWSON, Md. - Jackson Kenneth Ringer, 81, of Towson, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Stella Maris Hospice, Towson.
He was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Maryland.
He was the former owner of Ringers Home Laundry, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis LaRue Hepperie Ringer; two daughters, Patricia LaRue Doering of Fallston, Md., and Jacqueline Lee McCosh; one sister, Agatha Schaffer of Fort Loudon, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hagerstown.

DAMASCUS, Va. - Tom McNeil, 84, of Damascus and formerly of West Jefferson, N.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at his home.
Born July 14, 1912, in Ashe County, N.C., he was the son of Kirby and Ellen Faw McNeil.
He is survived by his wife, Altha Faw McNeil; five daughters, Tommy Jean Cook of Pennsylvania, Rebecca Hensel of West Virginia, June Mumma and Mary Stover, both of Maryland, and Kimberly McNeil of Damascus; one son, Barry McNeil of Leitersburg; three sisters, Edna Parsons, Ola Greer and Bell McNeil, all of West Jefferson; five brothers, Quincy McNeil and Iron McNeil, both of West Jefferson, Wint McNeil of West Virginia, Eugene McNeil of Wytheville, Va., and Oscar McNeil of Marion, Va.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Badger Funeral Home Chapel, West Jefferson. The Rev. Don Lasley and the Rev. Wayne Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Calloway Cemetery.
