Janet P. Lung
Janet P. Lung, 74, of 13609 Overhill Dr., Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Edna G. Nufer Wishard.
She was a 1943 graduate of Frostburg State Teachers College.
She was employed as an elementary school teacher at Cascade, Winter Street and Broadway Elementary Schools.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as a member of the Alter Guild, Trinity Lutheran Church Women and was principal of the primary Sunday school.
She also was a member of the Washington County Historical Society and the Washington County Retired Teachers Association.
She served as a volunteer of the Community Reading Room and with the Heritage room of the Fine Arts and Memorial Committee. She served as a guide at the Miller House and the Beaver Creek Elementary School.
She is survived by her husband, Harold P. Lung; two sons, H. Douglas Lung of Miami Lakes, Fla., and Timothy A. Lung of Hagerstown; one sister, Lucille W. Smith of Hagerstown, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of N. Potomac St. and Randolph Ave. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Dorothy M.H. Coulter
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dorothy Marie Hess Coulter, 70, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at City Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1926, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry Tate and Minnie Reah Lippencot Lewis.
She retired as a nursing assistant from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, after 27 years of service. She also had been employed by Perfection Garment Co.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy M. Coulter; one daughter, Christine Michael of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one son, Kelly David Hess of Bunker Hill; two brothers, Scott Lewis and Lodge Lewis, both of Martinsburg; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Eugene Hess Jr. and Mitchell Eugene Hess, and one brother, Elmer Lewis.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Louise Barrett and the Rev. Paul C. Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roland C. Long
FREDERICK, Md. - Roland Clyde Long, 81, of Bethel Road, Frederick, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at Citizen's Nursing Home.
Born April 27, 1915, in Loys Station, Md., he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Sadah Lewis Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Virginia Compher on Jan. 22, 1982.
He farmed in the Bethel area for 50 years.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed bus trips.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Bell of Clear Spring; three sons, Kenneth L. Long, Robert R. Long, both of Charleston, S.C., and Ronald W. Long of Mt. Airy, Md.; four sisters, Helen F. Farnwald, Margaret M. Hines, Nancy L. Eyler, all of Thurmont, Md., and Joyce M. Keiholtz of DeLand, Fla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, M. Virginia Motter and Betty R. Motter, and two brothers, Roy A. Long and David W. Long.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Muriel Heichler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jefferson, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Aleda M. Ecker
Aleda M. Ecker, 81, of 11901 Sun Valley Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at Ravenwood Retirement Center.
Born in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer F. and Marian P. Lizer Shepley.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was the organist at St. Ann Catholic Church for 10 years.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Ecker Jr.; three sons, Jerold A. Ecker and Jeffrey L. Ecker, both of Hagerstown, and John A. Ecker of Baltimore; one sister, Ruth Ardinger of Hagerstown; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jerome A. Ecker; one sister, Mary Shepley; and one brother, Clarence F. Shepley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. George Limmer will be celebrant. Private burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Myersville.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggest memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Nellie E. Poffenberger
Nellie Estelle Poffenberger, 99, of 10142 White Hall Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at her home.
Born June 23, 1897, in Ellerton, Md., she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Routzahn Poffenberger.
She was a homemaker and well-known quilter. She was featured in the book, "Maryland Album of Quilt Making & Traditions, 1634-1934."
She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Beaver Creek, where she had been a pianist for the Sunday school.
She is survived by one sister, Florence Higman of Smithsburg; two brothers, Charles C. Poffenberger of Hagerstown and Kenneth Poffenberger of Smithsburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary C. Scott, and two brothers, Roger F. Poffenberger and Paul R. Poffenberger.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Gary T. Bilbie will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.

Tom McNeil
DAMASCUS, Va. - Tom McNeil, 84, of Damascus, and formerly of West Jefferson, N.C., who died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Smith McNeil in July 1976.
Memorial services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate.
John T. Brown Jr.
BOONSBORO - John Telison Brown Jr., 82, of Reeders Memorial Home and formerly of 503 S. Hammonds Ferry Road, Linthicum, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 12, 1914, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Telison and Lena E. Baker Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred V. Lumm Brown, on Oct. 18, 1995.
He retired from the Maryland Economic and Community Development Agency, where he had held the position of a marketing development specialist.
He was a member of Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men.
He also was a 50-year member of the Glen Burnie Lodge 213, A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sharon Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery, Glen Burnie, Md.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Ave., S.W., Glen Burnie.

Alice A. Osbaugh
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alice A. Osbaugh, 74, of 1153 Leisure Drive, and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Chambersburg, where she had lived for the last month.
Born Jan. 13, 1922, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elsie M. Stoner Atherton.
She retired from the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg. She had last been employed by the Antrim House Restaurant, Greencastle.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church near Greencastle.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William R. "Bill" Osbaugh; one son, Roger A. Osbaugh of Chambersburg; two sisters, Jean Deavor and Vesta Fox, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, Robert Atherton of Chambersburg and Donald Atherton of Orrstown, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church. The Rev. Glen A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
