Norma R.S. Hill
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Norma Rebecca Schriever Hill, 65, of Route 2, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 20, 1931, in Amaranth, Pa., she was the daughter of Beatrice C.F. Engle Schriever of Warfordsburg and the late Andy H. Schriever.
She had been employed as a seamstress by London Fog for 32 years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Hancock Ward.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Elmer L. Hill, whom she married Aug. 23, 1950; one daughter, Adonna Reba Norma Hill Iverson of Orem, Utah; one son, Henry Oren Paul Hill of Provo, Utah; four sisters, V. June Bohlman of Hancock, Ruth Anna Oakman, Dorothy Mae Turner, both of Warfordsburg, and Nancy B. Hiatt of Brighton, Colo.; two brothers, LaVearl Schriever and Ralph Schriever, both of Warfordsburg; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Hancock Ward. Bishop Larry Hartman will officiate. Burial will be in Jerusalem Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and at one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert E. Smith
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Robert Edward "Smitty" Smith, 63, of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Oct. 18, 1933, in Pocahontas County, W.Va., he was the son of Charles L. and Ella G. Jeffrey Smith.
He retired as a mechanic from Jim's Auto Service, Ranson, W.Va.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna Marie Smith of Rockville, Deborah Ann Bird of Tacoma, Wash., and Diane Carrie De-Mar of Frederick, Md.; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home. Pastor Jack Meikrantz will officiate. Burial will be in Pocahontas County Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Janet P. Lung
Janet P. Lung, 74, of 13609 Overhill Drive, who died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, was a member of the Christian Women's Club of Washington County.
She was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Dorothy L. Fiery
Dorothy Louise Fiery, 83, of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.
Born June 7, 1913, in Walkersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Allen and Maude Creager Hahn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Fiery, in 1995.
She was past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter 3. She was a former officer of the Hagerstown Art Club.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Carlton Fiery of Williston, S.C., and Dr. Hubert Leroy Fiery of Cambridge, Md.; one sister, Lynn Dressel of California; one granddaughter; two adopted grandsons; one niece and one nephew.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Anna E.B. Knepper
MARION, Pa. - Anna E. Besecker Knepper, 75, of 115 Kennedy St., and formerly of Hagerstown and Chambersburg, Pa., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at her home.
Born Dec. 23, 1921, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George F. and Mary C. Diehl Besecker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Knepper, in 1971.
She was employed by J. Schoeneman Co. in Chambersburg as a seamstress for 32 years. She retired in 1986.
She attended Marion First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Rotz of Chambersburg and Sharon M. Walck of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, James H. Knepper of Chambersburg; two sisters, Evelyn Hess of Greencastle and Mary Waltrick of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Guy W. Camp III will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Gerald W. Kintzel
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gerald W. "Tippy" Kintzel Sr., 59, of 629 Foulger St., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Mercy Haverford Hospital, Haverford, Pa.
Born Jan. 27, 1937, in Tremont, Pa., he was the son of the late Horace and Esther Carl Kintzel. He was raised at Quincy Orphanage.
He was a 1954 graduate of Quincy High School.
He was employed as a baker by Quincy Orphanage for a number of years and then was a machinist for Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, for 21 years. He retired on disability in 1985.
He was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church and Men's Bible Class. He served as a greeter and sang with the church choir.
He volunteered at Mont Alto Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche A. Russell Kintzel, whom he married on July 4, 1956; two sons, Gerald W. Kintzel Jr. of Mont Alto, Pa., and Franklin C. Kintzel of Waynesboro; two sisters, Eleanor Bettinger and Barbara Ruddy, both of Tremont; two granddaughters; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Quincy United Methodist Church, Quincy. The Rev. James C. House and the Rev. John L. Rauch will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

John S. Beatty
NEEDMORE, Pa. - John Scott Beatty, 64, of RD 1, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pa.
Born April 3, 1932, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Orville R. and Virgie Gress Beatty.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of Needmore Bible Church.
He was a charter and lifetime member of Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of Needmore Grange.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Hendershot Beatty, whom he married on July 23, 1955; three daughters, Jackie Porterfield of Harrisonville, Pa., Kelly Miller of Needmore, and Deidre Ritz of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two sons, John R. Beatty and Todd B. Beatty, both of Needmore; two sisters, Mabelle Evans of Harrisburg, Pa., and Mary Jane Conte of New Cumberland, Pa.; one brother, C. Edward Beatty of Harrisburg; 11 grandchildren; and one stepgranddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Needmore Bible Church. The Rev. Douglas Poffenberger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be at Needmore Bible Church Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior the service. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
Florene C. Helman
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Florene C. Helman, 93, of ManorCare Health Services, and formerly of 26 Clover Circle, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at ManorCare.
Born Aug. 9, 1903 in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Viola Kuhn Gift.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Helman, in 1971.
She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ for more than 75 years. She was a member of the Golden Link Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Stafford of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons, J. Edwin Helman of Chambersburg and Thomas R. Helman of Carlisle, Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald R. Moul will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
