George Zeleznik
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - George Zeleznik, 76, of 5408 Charlestown Road, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born April 15, 1920, in Carteret, N.J., he was the son of the late John and Julia Dolgas Zeleznik.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Weed Zeleznik, in 1988.
He retired from the federal government in 1972 after 30 years of service. His last position was director of maintenance at Fort Meade, Md.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517; Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241; and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1790, all of Mercersburg.
He is survived by two sons, Peter Joseph Zeleznik of Mercersburg and George Michael Zeleznik of Columbia, Md.; one sister, Elizabeth Kleban of Sewarren, N.J.; and three grandchildren.
A wake and prayer service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Joseph L. Stahura will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Aleda M. Ecker
Aleda M. Ecker, of 11901 Sun Valley Drive, Hagerstown, who died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, was 64 years old.
S. Louise A. Breig
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - S. Louise Atkinson Breig, 102, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at the Extended Care Facility of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born Jan. 13, 1894, at Meadow Farm, Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late P.W. and Margaret L. Thompson Atkinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Vincent Breig, in 1980.
She attended Mount Saint Agnes School in Baltimore, where she studied music.
She was a homemaker, seamstress and avid quilter.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Moose Lodge 1311, Berkeley Springs.
She is survived by one daughter, E. Marie Clark of Huntingdon, Pa.; two sons, Paul V. Breig of Millville, N.J., and John W. Breig of Indian Head, Md.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Atkinson, Isabel DuPuis and Teresa Michael; and one brother, Robert Atkinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 116 S. Washington St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. John S. Ledford will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. The funeral home will be open Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

F. Sidney Cushwa
F. Sidney Cushwa, 94, of 1158 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at his home.
Born Jan. 30, 1902, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Victor M. and Susan Fechtig Cushwa.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown.
He is survived by one sister, Sarah J. Lyon of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. The Rev. George Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Prayers will be offered at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
Donald C. Haugh
WILLIAMSPORT - Donald Cover Haugh, 89, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of 1411 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, and also formerly of Clear Spring, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996 at the home.
Born Dec. 4, 1907, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late George Baxter and Nannie Cover Haugh.
His wife, Helen Louise Haugh, died in 1995.
He was a graduate of Towson State University and Western Maryland College.
He began his teaching career at Four Locks Elementary School and later taught biology and driver's education at Clear Spring High School.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
He was a 32nd degree mason with Medary Lodge.
He is survived by one niece, Jennifer Haugh Boward of Hagerstown; one nephew, Lawrence Carroll Haugh of Columbus, Ohio; three great-nephews; and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Haugh.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery near Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Dale A. Carson
BALTIMORE - Dale Andrew Carson, 92, of Baltimore, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Heritage Park Care Center, Dade City, Fla.
Born July 23, 1904, in Dayton, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Mae Porter Carson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Carson, in 1984.
He was employed as a furnace operator for 25 years by Rever Copper and Brass, Baltimore.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Carson of Hagerstown and Ray Carson of Dade City; one sister, Freda Jewart of Dayton; and one brother, Roy W. Carson of Rural Valley, Pa.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Lukehart, Edna Bailey and Maxine Carson; and one brother, Ross Carson.
Services were held Friday, Dec. 27, at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Rural Valley. The Rev. William N. Headley officiated. Burial was in Glade Run Cemetery, Wayne Township, Pa.
Richard E. Wade
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Richard E. Wade, 58, of 543 Broad St., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at his home.
Born Feb. 5, 1938, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John W. and Edith C. Myers Wade.
He was employed at one time by Nitterhouse Concrete in Chambersburg.
He attended Grace Evangelical Free Church, Chambersburg.
He is survived by one sister, Tressie Seville of Chambersburg; and three brothers, Paul C. Wade of St. Thomas, Pa., Alvin L. Wade of Chambersburg and Ralph W. Wade of Caledonia Manor, Fayetteville, Pa.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas. The Rev. J. William Kesecker will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mont Alto, Pa.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday one hour prior to the service.
John C. Smith
BRUNSWICK, Md. - John Clifford Smith, 58, of 220 Third Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at his son's home in Walkersville, Md.
Born Dec. 28, 1938, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late John Robert and Laura Elizabeth Albright Smith.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Smith; one daughter, Bonnie Gravley of Hagerstown; two sons, Clifford Smith of Walkersville and Howard Smith of Boonsboro; two sisters, Catherine Croson of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Nellie Hawes of Winchester, Va.; one brother, Robert Smith of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren; six aunts; and four uncles.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Community Center, Jefferson, Md. The Rev. Dan Fraley will officiate.
