John P. Holton
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John Philip Holton, 64, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at his home.
Born Aug. 14, 1932, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Francis and Roxie Neville Holton.
He was a retired carpenter for Paul Gregory.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Kretzer, Linda Holton and Jeanette Merryman, all of Martinsburg; two sons, Wayne Harvey of Berryville, Va., and Joseph Smith of Martinsburg; two sisters, Frances Stotler of Emmitsburg, Md., and Becky Plotner of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, Charles Smith of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; and a close companion for 22 years, Barbara Smith.
He was preceded in death by one son, Martin Smith; and three brothers, George I. Holton, Ringold W. Holton and Bobby Holton.
Robert R. Wyand
SARASOTA, Fla. - Robert Rice Wyand, 89, of Sarasota, and formerly of Keedysville, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996.
He was born Nov. 9, 1907, in Keedysville.
He was the owner of an appliance store in Maryland and upon retirement relocated to Sarasota.
He was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church and Lay Leader of the church in Keedysville and a Sunday school superintendent and men's class teacher. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church and past president of Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class in Sarasota.
He was a past member of Antie-tam Masonic Lodge 197 A.F.&A.M. of Keedysville, a past grand inspector of Grand Lodge of Maryland, and a 50-year member of Boonsboro Lions Club.
He also was a member of Olive Branch Chapter of O.E.S. of Keedysville, a member of the Washington County Historical Society, and a life member of the Baltimore Conference United Methodist Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife Ruby A. Wyand at home; one son, Stephen E. Wyand of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Paul L. Harbaugh
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Paul L. Harbaugh, 69, of 4380 Buchanan Trail West, died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996.
Born March 26, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Guy S. and Ethel Cordell Harbaugh.
He was employed in quality control and engine testing by Mack Trucks, Hagerstown, until his retirement in 1986 after 24 years of service. From 1947 to 1963 he worked at the Frick Co., Waynesboro, Pa., and following his retirement from Mack Trucks was employed by D.L. Martin Machine, Mercersburg, Pa.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.
He was a member of First Methodist Church, Greencastle, where he served as a church trustee.
He also was a member of the Golden Bulldogs, Hagerstown; Mercersburg American Legion Post 0517; the Greencastle AARP Chapter 3025; and the Greencastle High School Class of 1945. He was an avid camper and enjoyed camping at Saunderosa Camp Ground near Mercersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy B. Barnhart Harbaugh; two daughters, Nancy Lyter of Middletown, Md., and Cynthia Myers of Marion, Pa.; two brothers, Clarence Harbaugh of Rouzerville, Pa., and Earl Harbaugh of Greencastle; one sister, Ruth Woller of Greencastle; two granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville.
There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of First United Methodist Church, 45 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225; or to the Blood Bank at Hershey Medical Center, 500 University Dr., Hershey, Pa. 17033.
Floyd F. Gladhill
HANCOCK - Floyd F. Gladhill, 75, of Hancock, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Valley View Nursing Home, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Aug. 31 1921, in Millstone, Md., he was the son of the late Daniel R. and Lela V. Rosenberry Gladhill.
He was a retired house painter.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Post 26, Hancock.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie E. Snyder Gladhill; three daughters, Sue Staubs of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Diane Golden of Warfordsburg Pa., and Linda McClanathan of Clear Spring; three sons, Dale Gladhill, Robert Gladhill, both of Hancock, and Rick Gladhill of Needmore, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home.
Deidra L. Moore
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Deidra L. Moore, 14, of 2204 Sollenberger Road, Chambersburg, died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at her home.
Born Nov. 27, 1982 in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of Johnny Paul Moore of Chambersburg and the late Carla A. Gardner Reid.
She was an 8th grade student at J. Frank Faust Junior High School in Chambersburg. She played basketball at the school.
She attended Bethel Assembly of God Church and Christian Life Assembly of God Church, both in Chambersburg.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her step-mother, Robin R. Moore of Chambersburg; maternal grandmother, Pauline Elliott of Chambersburg; paternal grandfather, Charles Gardner of Chambersburg; three brothers, Jonathan P. Moore, Joseph L. Moore and Jeremy D. Moore, all of Chambersburg; four step-sisters, Larissa Reid, Alexis Moore, Crystal Bard and Amber Bard, all of Chambersburg; and three step-brothers, Johnny Paul Thomas, Lorrence Reid and Jordan Moore, all of Chambersburg.
Services will be Friday, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa. The Rev. Elmer T. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
There will be no viewing.
Carla A. Reid
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Carla A. Reid, 36, of 2204 Sollenberger Rd., died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at her home.
Born Nov. 23, 1960, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Charles W. Gardner of Chambersburg and Patricia Fox of Burlington, N.C., and the stepdaughter of Barbara J. Gardner of Chambersburg.
She was a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College.
She was employed for three years as a nursing assistant by South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa. She also was employed part-time as a nursing assistant by Piney Mountain in Fayetteville, Pa. and a nursing home in Gettysburg, Pa.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she is survived by one daughter, Larissa Reid of Chambersburg; four sons, Jonathon P. Moore, Joseph L. Moore, Jeremy D. Moore and Lorrence Reid, all of Chambersburg; and four sisters, Darla L.A. Marsh, her twin, of Babenhausen, Germany, Dixie L. Frederick, Lisa M. Gardner and Sharrie L. Miley, all of Chambersburg.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg. The Rev. Elmer I. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Mary J. Parkinson
CLEARBROOK, Va. - Mary Jane Parkinson, 78, of Clearbrook, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville, Va.
Born Oct. 7, 1918, in Jones Spring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Curby A. and Myrtle Everhart Parkinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Irvin Parkinson.
She was a member of the Stephenson United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Benner of Clearbrook; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert A. Parkinson; one grandson, Terry Benner; two sisters, Almara Parkinson and Elsie McKinney; ane one brother, Jess W. Parkinson.
Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Douglas Paysour will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel Cemetery, Ganotown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Richard L. Hummer
ZULLINGER, Pa. - Richard L. Hummer, 70, of 11962 Scott Road, Zullinger, and P.O. Box 124, Greencastle, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, in the emergency room at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 6, 1926, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Luther R. and Ethel M. Mackey Hummer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lou Anna Sites Hummer, who died April 15, 1986.
He was employed as a hydraulic mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot, near Chambersburg, retiring in 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greencastle, Pa.
He was a past member of Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion of Greencastle, a member of Mercersburg Sportsman Association, and a member of Mount Pisgah Lodge 443 Free and Accepted Masons of Greencastle.
He also was a member of Harrisburg Consistory as a 32 degree mason, South Penn Scottish Rite Club, a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club of Williamsport, and a life member of Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319 V.F.W. of Greencastle.
He is survived by one daughter, DeVonne I. Hummer of Zullinger; one son, Richard L. Hummer Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Sarah I. Scott of Zullinger, and Grace Abbott of New Brighton, Pa; one half-brother John E. Leberknight of Chambersburg, one granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Brian H. Triller will officiate.
Graveside military services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599 of Chambersburg, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Military memorial services will be held today at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home by Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. and Masonic memorial services will be conducted by his lodge at 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
