Douglas A. Orr
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Douglas A. Orr, 87, of 112 Coldspring Road, Fayetteville, formerly of Florida and most recently of Southern Pines, N.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, in Chambersburg.
Born Aug. 24, 1909, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late James Orr and Malvina Coutier Orr.
He graduated in 1927 from Dearborn High School, in Dearborn, Mich., and attended Wayne State University in Detroit.
He was the former owner of Conocodell Golf Club in Fayetteville. He became a professional golfer at Dearborn Country Club in Dearborn. He was retired.
He was a member of Professional Golf Association, and on staff at several clubs, including the Colonial Country Club in Harrisburg, Pa.
He also was a member of Elks Lodge, Southern Pines, N.C., and a former member of Elks Lodge 600 in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife Mary Evelyn Clarke Orr, whom he married Oct. 16, 1937; two daughters, Mary Kathleen Gardner, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Louise Evelyn Orr of Raleigh, N.C.; one son, James Douglas Orr of Fayetteville; one sister, Jean Hackenbruch of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held Friday, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Thomas R. Brenner will officiate.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Anna A. Breakall
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Anna Alta Breakall, 78, of Rt. 1, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.
Born April 24, 1918, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Lula Broadwater Caldwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband George H. Breakall who died Dec. 24, 1964.
She was a baker for Weavers Restaurant in Hancock.
She was a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Hancock.
She is survived by three daughters, Josephine Spade of Hancock, Linda Stuard of Burkhill, Ohio, and Judy Swain of Needmore, Pa.; four sons, George Breakall of Elizabeth, Colo., Lester "Boone" Breakall, Carl Breakall and Chad Breakall, all of Warfordsburg; two sisters, Lois Caldwell and Maxine Caldwell both of Hancock; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, three brothers and one great grandson.
Services will be held Friday, at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. will officate. Burial will be in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, in Needmore, Pa.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Howard C. Ware
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Howard Coleman "Jack" Ware, 81, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born May 21, 1915, in Kabletown, W.Va., he was the son of the late John C. and Nora M. Mummua Ware.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hulda H. Ware on Jan. 2, 1991.
He attended Charles Town High School.
He was employed as a clerk/cashier by the West Virginia ABC Store, Charles Town, until his retirement after 35 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.
He was a member of Kabletown United Methodist Church.
He was a former member of VFW Post 3522, Charles Town; Henry Kyd Douglas Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans; and a member of the Senior Citizens Center, Ranson.
He is survived by one brother, Charles E. Ware of Martinsville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Snyder and Mary C. Baker and one brother Logan R. Ware.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home. The Rev. Kathleen Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ettie V. Starliper
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Ettie V. Starliper, 91, of 7489 Robinson Road, Mercersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Aug. 8, 1905, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Robinson Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Starliper who died June, 1994.
She attended Clayton Memorial Church of God in Mercersburg.
She is survived by three daughters, Gladys L. Kaiser and Mabel M. Keefer both of Mercersburg, and Lula C. Clark of Greencastle, Pa.; one brother, Clarence Thomas of Fort Loudon, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, in Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Walter G. Lyons
Walter G. Lyons, 93, of Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1903 in Nashville, N.C., he was the son of the late William Ruffin and Mary Hilliard Lyons.
He was a member of the Hagerstown Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his wife Ethel S. Lyons; one step-daughter Lalar Milberry of Steelton, Pa.; two sisters, Julia M. Alston of Nashville, and Madeline Lyons of Washington, D.C., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hagerstown Seventh Day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown. Pastor Tim Roosenberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.

Lillian V. B. McDonald
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lillian V. Biss McDonald, 90, of 105 Garfield St., and formerly of R.D. 2, Cherry Tree, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born June 13, 1906, on Hillsdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer A. and Nancy Gromley Biss.
She married her husband, Flory A. McDonald in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She was a 1926 graduate of Cherry Tree High School. She attended Indiana State College, Indiana, Pa., and Juniata College, Huntington, Pa.
She taught elementary school for over 30 years in Green Township School District. She retired in 1967.
She was a member of the former Salem United Methodist Church, Clymer, Pa., until it closed in 1990. She had also been a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren; the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class of the church, and the sewers and quilters group of the church.
She also was a member of the South Chapter 2977 AARP and the National AARP.
She is survived by two brothers, Eugene Biss of Woodburn, Ore., and Theodore Biss of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McDowell Cemetery, Grear Township, Indiana County, near Cherry Tree. The Rev. Brent K. Driver will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Donald C. Haugh
WILLIAMSPORT - Donald Cover Haugh, 89, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of 1411 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, and also formerly of Clear Spring, who died Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, is survived by a nephew, Lawrence Carroll Haugh of Columbus, Ohio.
Anna R. Gerholt
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna R. Gerholt, 93, a resident of the Quarters of the Shook Home in Chambersburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at the home.
Born Sept. 25, 1903, near Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Amanda R. Wolf Gerholt.
For 35 years she worked as a housekeeper for the Alvin Witter Family in Mercersburg, and also other families in the Mercersburg area.
She was a member of Faith Temple Church in Cearfoss, and had been attending Brandt's Church of the Brethren of St. Thomas, Pa. for the past ten years.
She is survived by two nieces Ida Clark of Anderson, S.C., and Daisy Zeigler of Greencastle, Pa.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. She is the last of her immediate family.
Services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. W. David Kent, Rev. Sterling C. Keeney, and Rev. Rick E. Hostetter will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
