Mary L. Kershner
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mary Louise Kershner, 80, of 697 Leitersburg Rd., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa.
Born Nov. 6, 1916, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Elsie Showalter Helm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Kershner Sr. on Aug. 22, 1995.
She helped her husband in the operation of the family farm.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.
She was a former member of the Senior Women's Club of Greencastle and a former member of the Good Sams Camping Club of Chambersburg, Pa. She was an avid gardener.
She is survived by two sons, Charles W. Kershner Jr. and Robert L. Kershner, both of Greencastle; two sisters, Elva Martin of Quincy, Pa., and Edna Hem of Waynesboro, Pa.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Corine Beaver.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Donald M. Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Hattie V. Malatt
DOWNSVILLE - Hattie Virginia Malatt, 77, of 8601-A Downsville Pike, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 19, 1919, in Downsville, she was the daughter of the late John Eli and Minnie Hutzell Cline.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Malatt in 1993.
She was a member of the Williamsport Assemblies of God.
She is survived by one son, Roger L. Malatt of Downsville; one sister, Betty J. Bloyer of Williamsport; one brother, Harold T. Cline Sr. of Halfway; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one niece whom she raised, Eileen Rhodes of Martinsburg, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Malatt and Larry Malatt; one sister, Martha Williams; and four brothers, Wesley Cline, Raymond Cline, Kenneth Cline and Vernon Cline.
Services will be held at Saturday at 11 a.m. at Williamsport Assemblies of God, Falling Waters Road, Williamsport. The Rev. Daniel A. Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
Gertrude Greenawalt
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gertrude Greenawalt, 90, of Menno Haven, and formerly of 1614 Edgar Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at Menno Haven.
Born Aug. 28, 1906, in St. Thomas Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late N. Miller and Mary Hawk Greenawalt.
She was employed as a legal secretary for 60 years, first for Sen. D. Edward Long and later for attorney J. Glenn Benedict.
She was a lifetime member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
She is survived by four nieces, Charlotte L. Foster of Long Beach, Calif., Janet S. Myers, Elaine Harris and Barbara Kann, all of Chambersburg; and five nephews, Richard G. Stuff of Houston, Donald F. Stuff, Carl O. Stuff, Rodney G. Stuff and Michael C. Stuff, all of Mercersburg, Pa.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey L. Roth will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Susan E. Dobrosky
DERBY, Conn. - Susan Elizabeth "Bo" Dobrosky, 36, of 194 Olivia St., died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at St. Raphael's Hospital.
Born Feb. 27, 1960, in Fort Monmouth, N.J., she was the daughter of Barbara Manter Barrett of Pennsylvania and the late Herman R. Barnett.
She was a 1979 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for the past 10 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, John J. Dobrosky; four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dobrosky, Kelly Ann Dobrosky, Sarah Ann Dobrosky and Kiernan Ann Dobrosky, all of Derby; three sisters, Teresa Dumpe and Sandy Barnett, both of Hagerstown, and Jennifer Barnett of New Jersey; and one grandmother, Marian Coonley Mosteller of Maine.
Services were held in Connecticut.
Arrangements were by Celentano Funeral Home, New Haven, Conn.
Rowland A. Hammond Jr.
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Rowland Armstrong "Army" Hammond Jr., 91, of Billmyer Road, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Sept. 11, 1905, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Rowland A. and Mable Lee Miller Hammond.
He was a self-employed farmer for many years in Shepherdstown and Kearneysville, W.Va.
He was a member of Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church.
He was the oldest member of Shepherdstown Fire Department.
He is survived by one sister with whom he lived, Mable Lee Hammond; nieces and nephews; and a great-niece with whom he lived, Heather Dick.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ann Ruth Watson, Emma Hammond, Edith Hammond, Mary Baker Jones and Hester Hammond; and three brothers, Thomas Hammond, Harry "Piney" Hammond and Edgar Hammond.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Randall Tremba will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret C. Toms
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Margaret C. Toms, 89, of Washington, D.C., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at the home of her daughter.
Born March 5, 1907, near Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Columbus W. and Anna Flook Haupt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grayson E. Toms in 1982.
She was a member of Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church.
She also was a member of the International Sunshine Society, Daisy Branch, of Howard County, Md.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived, Barbara Ann Gray and David Gray, of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Paul G. Haupt of Silver Spring, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, Md. The Rev. Norman D. Kemmerer will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.
Vittoria M. d'Ecclesiis Garrison
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Vittoria Maria d'Ecclesiis Garrison, 68, of 510 Cleveland Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1928, in Naples, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Adelina dePalma d'Ecclesiis.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Harland Lawrence Garrison, whom she married on May 20, 1953; two daughters, Victoria V.A. Plume and Rosemary L. Kourliouros, both of Waynesboro; one son, Harland L. Garrison Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa.; one sister, Vincenza Miller of Canton, Ohio; one sister and two brothers in Italy; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing.

Margaret V.W. Snoots
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Margaret Virginia "Marge" Webber Snoots, 74, of 609 Valley Road, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at her home.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd A. Webber and Annie Porter Webber Daugherty.
Her husband, Arthur A. "Bud" Snoots, preceded her in death.
She retired after 30 years with International Ladies Garment Workers Union AFL-C10, and was last employed at Ross Garment in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Knoxville Church of God.
She also was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Steadman-Keenan Post 96 American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, and Women of the Moose Lodge 660, all of Brunswick, Md.
She is survived by one daughter, Kaye Deener of Knoxville; two sons, Lloyd A. Snoots of Benson, Ariz., and Boyd R. "Buddy" Snoots of Phoenix; one sister, Mary E. Cooper of Frederick, Md.; three brothers, Arthur "Ott" Webber of Hagerstown, William "Bill" Webber of Cascade, and Lawrence Webber of Smithsburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis L. Webber.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Douglas May and the Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Reformed Cemetery in Knoxville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
