Anne M. C. Maddran
BOONSBORO - Anne Marie Capkovic Maddran, 80, of Reeder's Memorial Home, and formerly of 133 Lakin Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at the home.
Born May 17, 1916, in Allentown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Augustovic Capkovic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Kenneth Maddran, on Jan. 18, 1990.
She was a retired seamstress and had been employed by Legilon, Londontown Manufacturing and Yvonne Kay.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Rodenhiser of Boonsboro; three sisters, Mary Marth of Coplay, Pa., Eleanor Baer of Allentown and Frances Papas of Longmeadow, Mass.; two brothers, William Capkovic of Fullerton, Pa. and Edward Capkovic of Cogan Station, Pa.; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Capkovic and Robert Capkovic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Boonsboro. The Rev. Jack Fullen will be Celebrant. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Mildred M. T. Welty
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Mildred Mae T. Welty, 81, of Carroll Lutheran Village, and formerly of Union Bridge, Md., died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.
Born Feb. 7, 1915, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Howard B. and Minnie Ann Dorsey Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Stoner Welty, in 1990.
She graduated from high school in Williamsport. She attended Frostburg Normal School and Towson University.
She was employed as an elementary school teacher at Elmer Wolfe, Union Bridge, retiring in 1975 after 15 years of service.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge.
She also was a member and twice past matron of Plymouth Chapter 41 Order of Eastern Star, Union Bridge; a member of the local and state retired Teachers Association; and a former secretary of the Union Bridge Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one daughter, M. Catherine Vincent of Clear Spring; one son, Russell S. Welty Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Delauder of Hyattsville, Md., one brother, Kenneth W. Thomas of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport. The Rev. Richard L. Michael, the Rev. Gregory Martin and the Rev. Doris Doub will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, Md., where an Eastern Star Memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends also may call at the church from noon until the time of the service.

Joe R. Taylor
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joe R. Taylor, 73, of 307 Crestwood Dr., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born March 23, 1923, in Edenville, Pa., he was the son of the late James and Anna Rhodes Taylor.
He was a 1942 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot, DESCOM, Chambersburg, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Prior to working at Letterkenny, he was employed by Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown, and with his wife, owned and operated Chambersburg Travel Lodge for a number of years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II as a staff sergeant with the 33rd Carrier Squadron.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.
He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599, VFW, Chambersburg; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; Landis-McCleaf Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Chambersburg; member of the National Association of AARP and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, E. Louise Stake Taylor, whom he married on March 8, 1947; one daughter, Sandra Taylor-Furst of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two cousins who were raised with him, Ray Patterson and Jack Patterson, both of Chambersburg; three stepsisters, Janet Grubbs of New Castle, Ind., Mary Lou Sedlacek of Monticello, Ky., and Lois Pisarek of Penn Hills, Pa.; one stepbrother, James Taylor of Monroeville, Pa.; and one grandson.
He was preceded by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Ray and Florence Patterson; one sister and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial, with military graveside services conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599, VFW, will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.

Charles L. Gray
DUFFIELDS, W.Va. - Charles Levi Gray, 88, of Duffields, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born May 10, 1908, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Daisy Boyd Gray.
He was employed by C.L. Robinson Orchards, Jefferson County, retiring after 40 years of service.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary E. Gray Gray; two daughters, Etheleen Watson of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Daisy Nicewarner of Duffields; one son, Charles W. Gray of Orlando; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Abbie Gaynor, Laura Popkins and Eliza Boyd and four brothers, James Gray, John Gray, Warner Gray and Robert Gray.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. John Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Marshall F. Arnold Jr.
DALTON, Ga. - Marshall F. Arnold Jr., 70, of Dalton, and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, at his home.
Born Oct. 17, 1926, in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Marshall F. and Adelaide Russler Arnold.
He was a 1944 graduate of Martinsburg High School. In 1952 he received a business administration degree from Shepherd College.
He was employed by J.C. Penny Co. for 30 years. He began his career in Martinsburg, and after several transfers, retired as manager of the Dalton store in 1981. After his retirement, he returned to the Martinsburg area and was the night manager of the Shepherd College Student Center. In 1990 he returned to Dalton, where he became a licensed real estate agent.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific from 1944 until 1946.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Naomi White Arnold; one daughter, Charmagne Wallace of Chatsworth, Ga., and one son, Frederick Marshall Arnold of Dalton.
Services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Raynard E. Mackey
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Raynard E. Mackey, 60, of 723 Maple St., died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in Boonsboro.
Born June 4, 1936, in Lemasters, Pa., he was the son of the late Donald E. and Ethel M. Keyser Mackey.
He was employed by Frey Quarries, Mercersburg, Pa. He also was employed for 38 years by Martin Marietta Quarries, Boonsboro, where he was a foreman at the time of his death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Korean War.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Eagles Club Inc.; Waynesboro Fish and Game Association; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, all of Waynesboro; and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Seilhammer Mackey, whom he married July 1, 1967; one son, Donald L. Mackey of Waynesboro; one brother, Richard Mackey of Mercersburg, Pa.; one niece and one nephew.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Wayne P. Lupolt will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Sunday at the funeral home.
L. Rose Hollis
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - L. Rose Hollis, 76, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born April 4, 1920, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Rose Anderson Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Trammell H. Hollis.
She was a 1939 graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She was the owner and operator of Weller's Tavern for more than 50 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sisters, M. Lorraine Davis and Frances Yurish, both of Martinsburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Burman Davis and one brother, Steward Davis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Pearl M. Alexander
FRONT ROYAL, Va. - Pearl Mae Alexander, 80, of Front Royal, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
Born March 25, 1916, in Upperville, Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Lizzie Smedley Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Alexander Sr., on Dec. 31, 1990.
She was retired.
She was a member of Strasburg Christian Church, Strasburg, Va.
She also was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge, Strasburg.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Preston of Front Royal and Nellie Miller of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lillian Riley, Carrie Edwards, Helen Dodson, Polly Hall and Hazel Dennis; and two brothers, Fred Hall and Herbert Hall.
Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. David C. Derby will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
