Frances Auzine Foster
Frances Auzine Foster, 71, of Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 19, 1925, in Fort Valley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ollie Ritenour Shipe.
Her husband, William J. Foster Sr., died in 1984.
She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
She is survived by one daughter, Doris A. Francis of Hancock; three sons, Richard Amos of Helendale, Calif., William J. Foster Jr. of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Robert G. Foster of Hagerstown; one sister, Mildred Price of St. Louis; one brother, Philip Shipe of Salisbury, Md.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy L. Lane; two sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, 17426 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate.
Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

Charles R. Wishard Sr.
SMITHSBURG - Charles R. "Chub" Wishard Sr., 47, of Pondville Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1949, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Crawford A. and Lillian I. Woodring Wishard Sr.
He was owner and operator of Wishard Garage in Smithsburg.
He was a member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club in Smithsburg, and Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie C. Daymude Wishard; one son, Charles R. "Chuckie" Wishard Jr. of Smithsburg; four sisters, Pat Bender of Chambersburg, Pa., Helen Adams of Greencastle, Pa., Doris Baer of Mercersburg, Pa., and Cindy Wishard of Mont Alto, Pa.; four brothers, Crawford Wishard Jr. of Mercersburg, Pa., Paul Wishard of Waynesboro, Daniel Wishard of Greencastle, and Dick Wishard of Hagerstown; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Wishard Daymude; and one nephew.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.
Bryan R. Bailey, minister, will officiate.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

G. Pauline Rotz
FORT LOUDON, Pa. - G. Pauline "Snook" Rotz, 78, of 12154 Main St., died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Fort Loudon, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Gertrude Kahn Nelling.
Her husband, Joseph L. "Boots" Rotz, died in 1969.
She worked as a teacher's aide in the Tuscarora School District for a number of years.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Fort Loudon, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years.
She was a life member of Fort Loudon Community Center.
She was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara A. Hurst of Fort Loudon; five sons, Joseph S. Rotz III, John L. Rotz, Richard N. Rotz, William D. Rotz, and Carl E. Rotz, all of Fort Loudon; two sisters, Thelma Miller of Fort Loudon, and Maxine Garner of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, one brother, and a great-grandson.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Fort Loudon.
The Rev. Barron P. Barley will officiate.
Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery in Fort Loudon.
Visitation will be held at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mildred Uhler
Mildred "Deanie" Uhler, 85, of 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 30, 1911, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Gordon and Lydia Elizabeth Shatzer Uhler.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one sister, Martha E. Embly of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Isabell Fisher, Olive Martin, Grace Gossard, Hazel White and Erma Russell; and one brother, George G. Uhler Jr.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Charles E. Napple
SMITHSBURG - Charles E. Napple, 80, of Smithsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born May 10, 1916, in Fairmont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary E. Dillon Napple.
His wife, Ellen W. Napple, died in 1987.
He was employed with N.O.L. in White Oak, Md., retiring in 1973.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by one daughter, Katherine D. Thoenen of Germantown, Md.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Monticello Memorial Park in Charlottesville, Va.
The Rev. William Bice officiated.

Charles A. Jankowitz
Charles A. Jankowitz, 89, of 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Stanley and Magdalene Sprorack Jankowitz.
He retired from Western Union.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard for four years.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was the last of 13 children, and is survived by nieces and nephews.
Prayer services will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Jack Fullen will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Leona D.M. deQuillfeldt
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Leona Delores McGehee deQuillfeldt, 71, of 162 Tabernacle Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 7, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Paul Anderson and Leona Mabel Turner Leggett.
Her first husband, Thomas A. McGehee Sr., preceded her in death.
She was employed with Letterkenny Army Depot during World War II, and with Randeb Plastic Co. in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.
She was a member of Hope Guild in Amityville, N.Y.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Wood deQuillfeldt of Falling Waters; three daughters, Robin S. Tosten of Hagerstown, Bonnie L. Rice of Alvaton, Ky., and Jennifer B. Castro of New York; one son, Jeffrey L. McGehee of Livingston, N.J.; one brother, Paul Leggett of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas A. McGehee II; and one grandson.
Services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 p.m. until the funeral service.

Esther Zimmerman
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Esther Zimmerman, 103, formerly of 3599 Lemar Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, in the Brethren Home of New Oxford, Pa.
Born Sept. 27, 1893, in Markes, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Nancy Yeager Hollar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Ray Zimmerman, in 1961.
A homemaker, she lived at the Lemar Road residence for 100 years prior to entering the home.
She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Williamson, Pa.
She taught Sunday school for 50 years in the primary department of the former Trinity Lutheran Church of Lemasters, Pa.
She was a member of the Lemasters Homemakers Association, and a member of the Fort Loudon Senior Citizens Center.
She was active in Republican politics in Peters Township, Franklin County, Pa., and served on the election board for more than 50 years.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Garnet L. Zimmerman of Waynesboro, Pa.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Steve E. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, Pa.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
