Florence E. Liller
FAIRPLAY - Florence Elizabeth Liller, 86, of 9121 Jordan Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at her home.
Born May 9, 1910, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Howard and Neva Pearl Rieger Wilson.
Her husband, Melvin Bointon Liller, died in 1984.
She was a member of St. James Brethren Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Neva Kathleen Martin of Halfway; two sons, Richard Nelson Liller and Vernon Earl Liller, both of Fairplay; four sisters, Josephine MacMannis of LaVale, Md., Esther Welsh of Buffalo Mills, Pa., Dorothy Murray of Fairplay, and Gwendolyn LaCasper of Cumberland; one brother, Earl Wilson of Wellington, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Edward O. Liller; two sisters, Rosalie Brown and Catherine Wolfrum; three brothers, Donald Wilson, Joseph Wilson Jr. and David Wilson; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. James Brethren Church, 17718 Lappans Road, St. James.
The Rev. Brian Moore will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will open at 9 a.m. today.

Alberta F. Miller
MARLOWE, W.Va. - Alberta Fay Miller, 86, of Marlowe, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1910, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William A. and Lucetta Canby Miller.
She was a 1928 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She also was a graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing.
She retired from the Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital after 30 years of service.
She was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II and served in the European Theater.
She is survived by five sisters, Bernice Miller and Fern Miller, both at home, Waunita Dellinger of Hagerstown, Gladys Sprinkle of Kensington, Md., and Wanda Maske of Hyattsville, Md.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Miller.
Services and burial are private.

Virginia L. Hunter
Virginia Lee Hunter, 80, of 21834 Black Rock Lane, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1916, in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late David L. and Bert Chambers.
She was employed by Washington Adventist Hospital, Tacoma Park, Md., retiring after 28 years of service.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Hunter.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jon Robert Hunter.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Hagerstown, 11507 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown.
The Rev. Tim Roosenberg will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Glen R. Faith
CLEAR SPRING - Glen Rich Faith, 73, of 14712 Mercersburg Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 16, 1923, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late James and Nellie Trumpower Faith.
He was a retired constable with the Washington County SPCA.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Timmons Faith; one daughter, Nellie E. Atherton of Mercersburg, Pa.; three sons, Richard E. Faith and Glen Michael Faith, both of Clear Spring, and Henry L. Faith of Hancock; three sisters, Mildred Faith of Fort Loudon, Pa., Catherine Jones and Rita Clark, both of Clear Spring; one brother, Earl Faith of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Ingram and Hazel Repp; and three brothers, Guy Faith, Fred Faith and Carl Faith.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring.
The Rev. Robert E. Timmons and the Rev. Jeff Hawbaker will officiate.
Burial will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.

Alma L. S. Toms
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alma L. Shockey Toms, 83, of ManorCare, and formerly of 22 Mount Vernon Terrace, Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born May 21, 1913, in Washington Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Guy and Mary Pearl Barnhart Shockey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Russell Toms, on Dec. 6, 1984. They were married on Jan. 7, 1933.
She was employed by the Waynesboro Shoe Factory; Wayne Manufacturing Co., Waynesboro and Connie's Sportswear as a seamstress.
She retired in 1978.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.
She also was a member of the national AARP and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Post 1758, Waynesboro.
She was a talented cook and craft person.
She is survived by three daughters, Susie Rook and Joan M. Shadle, both of Waynesboro, and Lois Ann Thompson of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Pauline Staley of Waynesboro and Dolores Sleicher of Mont Alto, Pa.; one brother, Charles E. Shockey of Mont Alto; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel M. Kendall; and two brothers, George A. Shockey and Guy P. Shockey.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
Pastor Roger E. Keech will officiate.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Charles J. Clowser
WINCHESTER, Va. - Charles James Clowser, 79, of Hilltop House Home for Adults, Winchester, and formerly of Front Royal, Va., and Oakton, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, at Hilltop House Home for Adults.
Born Jan. 31, 1917, in Mount Williams, Va., he was the son of the late Leslie Ernest and Oneta Dare Stotler Clowser.
He earned his teaching certificate from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
He was a teacher at the Posey Hollow School, Morgan County, W.Va.; the principal of Paw Paw (W.Va.) High School; and was a teacher at Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School.
In 1955, he moved to Fairfax, Va., where he taught at Hammond High School and owned and operated the Westwood Motel.
He worked as a real estate appraiser in Annandale, Va., during the 1960s.
He owned and operated motels throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia during the 1970s.
He last worked as a check processor at George Mason Bank, Fairfax.
He retired and moved to Winchester in 1994.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Arlington Temple United Methodist Church, Roslyn, Va.
He also was a member of Deford Lodge 88, A.F.&A.M., Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Thelma M. Mauzy Clowser; two daughters, Boneta G. Paynich of Great Falls, Mont., and Debra L. Powell of Front Royal, Va.; one son, David L. Clowser of Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond L. Clowser, on March 20, 1987.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.
The Rev. Glenn F. Stevens Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ungers Store, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary A. Spurgas
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mary Ann Spurgas, 44, of Nashville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at her home.
Born Dec. 2, 1952, in Manchester, N.H., she was the daughter of Marjorie Dunham Spurgas of Berkeley County, W.Va., and the late Joseph S. Spurgas Jr.
She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, Lexington, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in sociology.
She was employed as a personnel management specialist by the Veterans Affairs Administration Center, Nashville.
She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Nashville.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one sister, Sandra L. Grove of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two brothers, Joseph R. Spurgas of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Richard T. Spurgas of Cleveland; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rhoda M. Z. Frank
WOODRUFF, S.C. - Rhoda May Zecher Frank, 81, of Woodruff Health Care Center, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997, at B.J. Workman Memorial Hospital.
Born in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Martin F. and Nora L. Delauder Zecher.
She was a 1933 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 89, Morris Frock Post 42; American Legion; and Republican Club, Hagerstown.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Weyhe of Donnedin, Fla.; one son, Donald S. Frank of Moore, S.C.; one brother, Lyndon B. Zecher of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held later at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spartansburg, S.C.
