SMITHSBURG - Claude Durbin Smith, 97, of 11908 Seminole Drive, who died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, was preceded in death by two sons, Claude D. Smith Jr. and Robert W. Smith.
Karen M. Cordell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Karen M. Cordell, 48, of 934 S. Fifth St., died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 9, 1948, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence O. and L. Mable Nuckels Miller.
She was a 1966 graduate of Chambersburg High School, and was co-chairperson of the class' 30th reunion.
She was a homemaker.
She attended King Street United Brethren Church in Chambersburg, and the Breon Sunday School Class.
She was past president of the Chambersburg Little League Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Cordell, whom she married March 7, 1968; two daughters, Ginger R. Cordell and Heather M. Cordell, both of Chambersburg; one son, Robert D. Cordell of Chambersburg; one sister, Joan L. Miller of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Patrick B. Jones and the Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Leo J. Plante
WILLIAMSPORT - Leo Joseph Plante, 77, of 10916 Donelson Drive, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Woonsocket, R.I., he was the son of the late Eugene and Melvina Beaudoin Plante.
He was employed as an accountant by Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa., retiring in 1981.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Infantry Division as a second lieutenant.
He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Williamsport, where he served as a past elder and treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve R. McCusker Plante; one sister, Lauretta Pauline of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; one brother, Roland Plante of Plainfield, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Hancock.
The Rev. Mark A. Sandell will officiate.

Arlene D. Meck
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Arlene D. Meck, 55, of 415 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at her home.
Born Feb. 7, 1941, in Everett, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Fannie Mack Shauf.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Philip R. Meck, whom she married March 28, 1959; four sons, Clyde W. Meck and Troy L. Meck, both of Fayetteville, and Phillip W. Meck and Trent D. Meck, both of Chambersburg; four brothers, David Shauf of Chambersburg, Charles Shauf of Rochester, N.Y., Glenn Shauf of Worleytown, Pa., and Walter Shauf of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death four sisters and one brother.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
The Rev. Ronald L. Cook will officiate.

BOONSBORO - F. Annett Davis, 80, of 8507 Mapleville Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1916, in Douglas, Wyo., she was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Myrtle M. Vandiver Wilson.
Her husband, Cecil E. Poole, died in 1986.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Fahrney Keedy Chapel.
She also was a member of Women of the Moose, Chapter 342, and the College of Regents.
She is survived by her husband, Irvin L. Davis; three sisters, Mildred R. Alstrup of Media, Pa., Edna J. Westmoreland of East Hartford, Conn., and Juanita M. Winchell of Hudson, N.Y.; two brothers, Harvey G. Wilson of Hagerstown, and Donald L. Wilson of Torrington, Conn.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
A memorial service will be held at Fahrney Keedy Chapel Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ada Braithwaite Geiger, 71, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, in Jacksonville.
Born in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Singleton Braithwaite.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Hess Geiger.
She is survived by two daughters, Effie Phillips of Asheville, N.C., and Jenny Miller of Jacksonville; one son, Capt. John Lockhart of the U.S. Air Force in Phoenix; two sisters, Marion McIver and Ellen Keegan, both of Liverpool; and six grandchildren.
Services will be announced at a later date.

Dorothea S. DeShong
BALTIMORE - Dorothea S. DeShong, 92, of Baltimore, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, in Baltimore.
Born July 18, 1904, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Oakman and Bertha Sipes Oakman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. DeShong, in 1976.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Alverta Mordan of Baltimore; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and four sisters.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa.
The Rev. David Reams will officiate.
Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m.
Claire L. Olsen
Claire Lenor Olsen, 56, of 14005 Broadfording Church Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1939, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Grace Spinney Lewis.
She worked with the San Mar Foster Care Program as a health care provider and foster parent.
She was a member of Williamsport Church of God, Williamsport.
She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
Pastor Dale C. Cosden will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the memorial service Saturday.
