Donald G. Mauck, Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Donald G. Mauck, Sr., 70, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at his home.
Born June 4, 1926, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Eva Brown Mauck.
He retired from Schmidt Baking Co.
He was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where he served for 50 years as head usher.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anna Dunn Mauck, at home; one daughter, Gwen A. Frazee of Martinsburg; one son, Donald G. "Mike" Mauck Jr. of Martinsburg; one sister, Wanda Sankbell of Martinsburg and four brothers, Eugene Mauck, Charles Mauck, Gerald Mauck and Gary Mauck, all of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Mauck.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
The Rev. Robert T. Wellman and the Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate.
Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lawrence A. Trace
Lawrence Allen "Larry" Trace, 54, of 11723 Peacock Trail, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at his home.
Born Feb. 11, 1942, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Maxine Ellen Jones Trace of Williamsport and the late Glenn Wilson Trace.
He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1960.
He retired from the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C., in August 1996.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1984, retiring as a senior chief petty officer.
He earned the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He was a former president of Valley Little League, a member of the Funkstown American Legion and a member of the former Moose Lodge 212.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Monica A. Fish Trace; one daughter, Kathy S. Pepple of Greencastle, Pa.; one son David A. Trace of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Glenda L. Austin of Hagerstown and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Edward H. Heim officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Josephine P. McFerren
Josephine P. Snider McFerren, 84, of 1303 Hunter Hill Apartments, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, in the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born July 4, 1912, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Mamie Stewart Snider.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. McFerren, in 1983.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for Miller's Furniture Store in Waynesboro and worked with her husband at the Famous Furniture Store in Waynesboro.
She retired in 1977.
She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro.
She is survived by one brother, Joseph Snider of Yardley, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Services will be Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Roger K. Myers officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Charles R. Ganoe
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Charles Ray Ganoe, 73, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born Sept. 28, 1923, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Charles Sterling and Mary J. Wachter Ganoe.
He was a retired machinist-inspector for Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.
He served in the U.S. Army, Company B, 50th Armored Infantry Battalion, during World War II.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of technician fifth grade and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the American Theater Service Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26, Hancock.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sarah Ellen Exton Ganoe; one daughter, Sally Ann McCumbee of Berkeley Springs; one son, Ray Lee "Pee Wee" Ganoe of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Kenneth "Cockey" Ganoe of Winchester, Va., and Eugene Ganoe of Colorado; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Vaughn Ganoe; and one brother, Aphas "Abe" Ganoe.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.
Jack and Shirley Hiles, pastors, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, with full military graveside honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Paul W. Apple
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Paul Washington Apple, 87, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at his home.
Born April 27, 1909, at Orleans Crossroads, W.Va., he was the son of the late Julius C. and Mary Elizabeth Norris Apple.
He retired in 1974 after 50 years as an engineer with the B&O Railroad.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers 934.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pauline Virginia Wachter Apple; two daughters, Donna Jean Corbett of Hancock and Sylvia A. Schetrompf of Berkeley Springs; one son, Paul William Apple of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Delores Foreback of Berkeley Springs and Amanda Apple of Baltimore; two brothers, Vernon Apple of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Willard Apple of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Davis; one brother Howard Apple, and one granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 S. Union St., Berkeley Springs.
The Rev. Ralph H. Funkhouser will officiate and Pastor Wayne Frum will assist.
Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

Charles M. Dodd Jr.
FREDERICK, Md. - Charles Moss Dodd Jr., 77, of 600 Taney Ave., died Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 18, 1918, in McKaig, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Moss Dodd Sr. and Rosie Masser Dodd.
He was employed at Frederick Trading Co. as an architectural hardware consultant.
He was a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.
He also was a member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 684 and the Doors and Hardware Institute.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Abrecht Dodd; two daughters, Susan D. Urban of Frederick, and Sally Dodd Burdett of Walkersville, Md.; two sisters, Marie Clem of Walkersville and Myrlee Burtner of Middletown, Md.; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne G. Funk officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Alcesta F. Clever
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Alcesta F. Clever, 70, of 3500 Mountain Road, Mercersburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at Chambersburg Hospital, in Chambersburg Pa.
Born Dec. 28, 1925, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Bliss and Elizabeth Pine Lynch.
She retired in 1988 from Corning Glass in Greencastle, Pa., after 27 years of service.
She was a past president and trustee of the Ladies Auxiliary Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 of Mercersburg and held all elective positions of the auxiliary.
She also was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Wesley Yeager American Legion Post 606 of Fort Loudon, Pa.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta I. "Bobbie" Walker and Nancy L. Peck, both of Mercersburg; one sister, Catherine Pittman, of Mercersburg; one brother Lloyd Lynch of Mercersburg; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mt. Tabor Brethren In Christ Church, Punchbowl Road, Mercersburg, with the Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. and the Rev. Alvin E. Goetz officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
